Actually if I could give less than one star I would. This used to be a fun place to stop for a rest break of shopping and food. This place must have new owners or new management. Now they charge $3.00 to use the bathroom! I was put off by the aggressive demands of those running the place. If you are headed north go to Buffalo (25 miles). If you are headed south go to Belle Fourche (46 miles). DO NOT waste your time or money at this place. read more

Oh my we found a diamond! On our way to Madora North Dakota from Spearfish South Dakota.... Very strong winds shut us down driving so we pulled in! Owner Susan Miller and Chef Ron welcomed us, parked the RV plugged in and had the most amazing Tomahawk steak and shrimp private dinner with amazing wine from their wine room. Amazing food and even better company! This place is a true rustic gem! read more

New owners and brand new kitchen :) We stopped for a burger and a BLT and also left with some local wine & pickled beets as gifts. We didn't ask their names but the two new owners said they have been in there only 3-4 months. They've redone the kitchen and will serve breakfasts now, too. Great place for a coffee, milkshake, or a bite to eat. Friendly, family-run place. Worth a detour.

On a -15 degree night my semi gelled up and thankfully I was able to make it to Crow Buttes Mercantile. While I waited for my wife to come and get me....an hour and a half wait....the owners tried to help me get the semi running. No luck, but they made me a delicious burger and let me stay inside the warm building. I can't thank them enough for all their help and hospitality. I will stop here every time I'm going that way! Got the semi going the next day and made it home once again...... read more

Love this store and its people, it is always clean and friendly . We were staying out of Belle for a few weeks visiting our son. So we got to visit almost daily. The collection of souvieners is awesome, and very reasonably priced. There is something there for everyone and if you can't find it just ask, they usually have it somewhere. We love this store,and being from California we make a point to see everyone before we leave, you leave knowing you will be back. Thank you for being in the middle of NO where. read more

We stopped here on the way from Rapid City to the Teddy Roosevelt National Park. The mail address is Belle Fourche, but Crow Buttes Mercantile is a looooong way north of Belle Fourche. The store has a good selection of everyday needs, clean bathrooms, and friendly personnel. They also advertise burgers and shakes, but we did not partake. If we'd been hungry, we would not have hesitated to order some. They also sell gas. read more

We had some car troubles the day before Thanksgiving and ended up being stranded here for the majority of the day until we could get picked up. We were able to sit inside and relax in a clean, welcoming environment. Mary was so nice and understanding and we are extremely appreciative of her and this facility. The prices are extremely reasonable for a small business miles from the closest town, and the food is excellent! read more
