The best beach we've found in Cape Cod. The reason? All year round dog friendly beach, the beach of which at low tide extends for what must be a mile out. People bring their 4x4s here and park and play (but not many of them). Get to South Street off 6A, and then drive, drive, drive to the end of South Street (it's bumpy and gravely and a fun ride) where we can park in a nestle of trees. From there it's a quick hop over the dunes via the path, and endless splashing and playing await. Check the tide times for Barnstable harbour, and head on down for low tide! There's even some rocks to play around on if you do hit high tide.... read more

Terrible place, don't go! No snack bar, no bathrooms, no lifeguards. You have to either walk a mile on a dusty road breathing the exhaust of the Jeep in front of you, or risk scratching the paint on your Volvo, which is probably going to violate your lease terms anyway. When the tide is out, you have to walk another mile to get to the water. Crowes Pasture is full of crusty locals swilling PBRs all day. If you want the real Cape Cod beach experience, head over to Seagull Beach or West Dennis on the warm and pleasant Nantucket Sound. read more

Oh my GAWD. Crowes Reservation is my new heaven on earth. This place is really off the beaten path; there aren't even any signs for it like there are for other beaches, so good luck locating it sans a trusty GPS. The plus side of this is that the average tourist isn't here and the beach is extremely quiet. I probably am doing a disservice by rating it on Yelp, but it is so freaking marvelous it would be wrong not to share it with others. To get to Crowes, you have to drive down a windy, narrow dirt road about as wide as an average SUV and surrounded on all sides by a serene forest. You probably shouldn't attempt this road unless you have 4 wheel drive; there are a lot of potholes, rocks, and sand, making it tough for 2WD cars. There are small parking areas littered along the path, and we had no problem finding a place to park even in the height of summer. Walking along the narrow roadways to the beach and listening to birds chirping in the distance is magical and in a weird way reminded me of places I've visited in Florida (I'm sure it didn't help it was like 94 degrees with 100% humidity that day). There are two beach areas you can visit: East Side and West Side. West side is a marshy paradise with large sand dunes, grass, and sand. When we visited it, there was literally not one other single soul on the beach. We also checked out the East side, which is where most people go as it is more of a traditional sun, sand, and water beach. The day we arrived the tide was way out, and we took a long walk to actually get out to the water.. People had their trucks and SUVs parked on sandbars, playing fetch with their dogs, grilling, and listening to tunes. There might have been 5-10 groups of people on the entire, massive beach. If you have a permit to drive on the beach you can do here, but it is also just as satisfactory on foot as well. And yeah, you can bring your doggies year freaking round. Awesome. There is also an easy, pleasant walking trail loop to explore. We are holding out until the weather cools a bit before we try that, but we are ecstatic to find a new place to explore. read more

Amazing setting...I always park in the first lot and jog to the beach. I pass wildflowers and lovely scrub oaks and grape vines. The birds are always singing a chorus. When I arrive at the fork I jog right and follow the path to the sea. Low tide, there are crowds of 4 WD vehicles on the flats. The oyster farms are present in the distance. I jog west to the next entrance and return. It's a lovely setting. It's perfect for picnics and a simply lovely day at the beach. There is plenty of parking off season and limited high season. read more

This beach is a home run!!! We took the dogs and they loved it. Here's the deal. Use the directions on yelp. This will take you to an intersection of south/sea. Continue toward the cemetery on south and you will hit the entrance to accessing the beach. There is parking immediately when you head down the dirt road. Park if you want to walk about a little less then a mile. Otherwise, drive down and you will come much closer to the water, cutting down on your walk. Parking is free, but you need a pass to drive on beach. Once there, it's wide open. Low tide is ideal because it offers a lot more beach. Dogs are allowed all year long. Most are off leash because there is just so much beach. Water was clean, waves and ideal for a day trip. Bring anything you want, no one bothers you. My favorite beach on the Cape. Like many others I hesitated to even write a review because so few people know about this beach and that is part of what makes it awesome it's literally never ever crowded but as a dog owner I felt compelled to tell other dog people if you're looking to go to the beach for the day and hate to leave your pooch behind like I do then you will absolutely LOVE this beach. Not only is it naturally gorgeous with tons of space what really makes it special is the people that hang out here are almost always dog people themselves and have a very chilled out laid back attitude. Technically your dog is supposed to be on a leash but it's commonly excepted to let your dog run free and where everyone is so friendly it's not a huge deal if your dog runs over and says hello to a group and will probably make a dog friend or two. However I feel like I have to state the obvious if your dog isn't good with all other dogs or doesn't have good recall (coming when you call him) be a good sport and keep him on a leash. Always pick up after your dog and be awesome to keep this place awesome. Cool kids and families only please if that's you then come on down. The road to this place can be a rough ride it's very narrow only one car at a time, it's bumpy and has big holes. It's ideal to be in a vehicle that can handle rough terrain but I made it out to a parking spot in a minivan by taking it VERY slowly and being considerate of people leaving the beach by pulling over to let them pass. It's tough to access in a regular car but not impossible so don't let that keep you from going especially if you're a generally nice and respectful person. I haven't tried driving out on the beach in our truck yet but I can't wait to. An awesome beach where you don't have to do that awful walk loaded up with all your crap from the car to your beach spot in wicked hot weather---pinch me I'm dreaming! The park rangers frequent this place regularly so don't do anything crazy. If you've driven out on the beach there are some rules and they may make sure you're abiding by them. I've never seen them give anyone a hard time and they've all been very nice to me especially my first time there when I wasn't sure about where to park and felt like an outlaw having my dog on a beach during the height of summer. Be sure to check out the tide times for the best beach visit. Low tide is best and if you're driving on the beach you've got to be conscious of the tide coming in to give yourself enough time to turn around and drive out. Happy beaching! read more

I almost don't want to write a review for this beach because even on it's most crowded days there aren't THAT many people and I don't want people reading my positive review and giving it a shot! selfish, you bet, but the other good beaches are overwhelmingly packed! this is my favorite beach; crazy low tides so you can hang out on the flats, not a lot of seaweed(that's huge for me) and most importantly it's dog friendly. you really need an off road sticker so unless you're a Dennis resident you have to shell out $200 for a sticker, but I'd call it $200 well spent. read more

Like the other reviewers, I'm hesitant to share the secret of Crowes... but if you can find it, and make it out there - then you deserve to check out this piece of heaven. Crowes is a unique beach as it is on quivet neck, so it gets super low tides with amazing, neverending flats you can drive/walk out to for ever. High tide is not as fun on the beach side bc of sea grass, but it's the best for the creek side - best swimming in the cape, maybe anywhere in the world. People park right along the creek and set up shop, it's the perfect all day spot. You can bring boats in the creek at high tide, and even cruise down the neck pretty far. The swimming in the creek is liquid peace and happiness. We have permits and are able to drive out to the beach, flats and creek. It's the only way to go! You can, however, access a part of crowes beach without 4x4/permit, just drive down and park in the wooded area and walk out. Crowds are minimal as it's resident only and primarily a 4x4 beach, but you can still enjoy the place without...do yourself a favor and walk to the creek! Dog friendly at low tide, be careful otherwise between high tide and plover restrictions - they will ticket you! read more

After seeing all of the great reviews on Yelp, we had to check it out for ourselves. We were NOT disappointed!!! It was a bit of a walk but well worth the effort. This is a great beach for young kids because of all of the tide pools and sea creatures. I highly recommend that you go at low tide, especially if you have kids. They can run around to all of the tide pools and the water is nice and warm. This is also a great place to bring your dog. read more

Whats better than a very large beach with crystal clear water and a gradual slope so you can walk out pretty far Not much unless you are a surfer. This beach may take a bit to get to by car and then walking at low tide but its worth the trip especially if you have adog that likes the beach. If you have an SUV and an ORV permit its optimal. You will see families there playing volleyball with plenty of space between for privacy.We drove 30 minutes to get there (prime beach time) and were not disappointed read more

Dog friendly (except when it's plover season, then no dogs). Wonderful walking trails with limited parking (see town webpage). I wouldn't recommend getting an ORV pass unless you are at the cape a lot over the year. The town closes the ORV access when the plovers are there with little notice (like this year right before July 4th). Also, access is limited to an increasingly small number of vehicles when it is open. If you're not there early enough you will be turned away. Sunsets are spectacular especially at low tide. Area closes at 9pm. read more

Agreed that the beach is beautiful, but the secret is out. The beach was crowded with cars and there was a line to park in the spaces along the dirt road. It's great that you don't have to pay an access fee and you can bring your dog year round, but we ended up with a longer walk because we had to park in the neighborhood and had to venture far along the shore to find some space. read more

This is a magical place. I went there this past August with my kids and dog. We followed the directions on Yelp, but then made the mistake of parking close to the cemetery, and walking to the beach. It wasn't terribly far, but a bit of a hike for the kids, and I didn't bring anything except something to drink and some cookies. It was nevertheless a fantastic experience. My son was mesmerized by the tide pools, and my daughter ran around and made drawings in the sand. The dog drank himself sick with saltwater but hey, after spending two days in a dog friendly room at the hotel, this was a step up. For newbies to the beach, the cemetery is at the intersection shown on the Yelp map, but if you follow the road into the woods towards the beach (which is fine to drive with a regular vehicle) you will eventually find a smaller parking area closer to the beach. Beware though, because it is quite small, so if you come there on a busy day (weekend) and it's full, you are in trouble. Beyond that point, only trucks and RVs are allowed to drive further and onto the beach. We came on a weekday and would have been fine, but walking back we met several trucks and RVs, with dogs, kids, so I can imagine that it's a popular spot in the summer. I loved it, and hope to come again. It reminded me of Skagen in Denmark; the sand dunes, the wind, the sea, the light - just amazing. read more
