Tasting room

Fun architecture, playful atmosphere. We had to visit the Crown & Thieves winery to experience the theatrical winery and speakeasy! The ambience was what one would expect - lots of plush velvet curtains, low lighting and floor-to-ceiling bookshelves stacked with wine. The tasting menu is 5 pours for $15 (waived if you purchase a bottle). We enjoyed the very photo worthy backdrop provided by the building itself and the multiple stories of themed rooms to explore.

Our fourth and final winery of the evening was at Crown & Thieves. This is kitty corner to Truck 59 Ciderhouse. We dropped in on a Thursday evening (around 7:30pm). The moment you walk in, your jaw will drop. The baroque theme is a mix of chandeliers, velvet sofas and doors imported from Israel from the 1600's. Think a bougie, beautifully curated castle. Can't believe there's a speakeasy in the basement (for wine club members). They've gone for an old English pub, prohibition days vibe. You'd think that was it but there's more! There will be a rooftop patio where they'll be serving food. Can't wait to see how that turns out. You can do the tasting inside along the u-shaped bar or else outside on the patio (three tables). Our hostess was friendly and chatty. Interesting that most of the staff here have tattoos. Goes with the vibe. Tasting fee is $15.00/person and includes 4 pours but we were given an extra one. Fee is waived with a bottle purchase. - 2020 Little Nipper pinot gris - citrusy and smooth. We bought a bottle ($22.99) to bring home. - 2020 The winemakers wench - B didn't like this one much as it was sharp and predominantly chardonnay. - 2020 Pinky blinders - rosé had a dry, subtle watermelon note. Juicy but not overly sweet. - 2017 Arch doxy - smokey, more complex cab franc. - 2014 Scoundrels punch - we were given an extra red to try (one of their wine club exclusives). B liked this one too. Juicy with blueberry and blackberry notes. Cool, chic winery at C&T. Will have to come back to try their food.

Fun to walk around and look at each floor. Our server gave more details about the decor and theme. We enjoyed our time there and left with a white and a red. We'd will recommend to friends.

If you are in Kelowna you must come to this winery! The building is unique, the inside is beautifully designed. There is a speak easy downstairs that is super unique, again decor is awesome. We went for a tasting on the outside patio. The server was super friendly and knowledgeable. She knew her wines and how they were made along with great stories for the names. Only giving 4 stars as their selection is limited for whites and I was so so on the reds.

We only tried the red wines, and all four wines were outstanding. Fidlam, Scoundrels Punch, Broken Hearts, and Crybaby were favorites!

Wine tastings are complimentary but they limit you to four pours per person. Bottles are in the $15.90 to 43.39 range. We were a large group so we split our group in half. We were four so should have had 16 total tastings to try. Instead, the pourer only let us try 13 out of 14 on the list. Super lame that we didn't get to try the 2014 Eruption. Interestingly, the other half of our group got to try 6 samples each. So I have no idea what was the issue with that guy. Whites - 2016 Bubbly gewurztraminer - 2017 Rose - 2016 Magma white - 2016 Viognier - 2013 Reserve chardonnay - 2016 Lava white blend - this was the only white I liked. A blend of 6 different whites. Reds - 2015 Pinot noir - 2013 Merlot - 2014 Syrah - 2015 Magma red - the only red that was decent. Another blend of 5 reds. Icewines - 2016 Gewurztraminer late harvest - this was incredibly sweet. - 2015 Pinot noir icewine - not sure how but it was even more sweet than the gewurztraminer. - 2014 Riesling icewine - only icewine that was balanced. Wasn't impressed much with the wines or the service here.

The tasting staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and do a great job explaining their wines. It's also a great place to spend time with friends and family. That said, I enjoy the restaurant experience here even more. The outdoor seating offers beautiful views and is a wonderful spot to relax with a bottle of wine and good company. While the food isn't the main highlight, it's nice to have dining options while enjoying the scenery. Families will especially appreciate the setup. Kids can play in the beach area, and you can also grab food from the café and have a casual picnic on the grounds. I personally preferred their red wine selection and had a lovely afternoon here with my family. If you're visiting the Okanagan with family, this estate offers one of the best overall experiences in the area, with great views, plenty of space to relax, dining options, and a family-friendly atmosphere.

The food, as always, was delicious. The wings were perfectly cooked, Cajun fries had great flavour, beer cheese was delicious and creamy and the beef sliders hit the spot. The wine is an excellent value as they do not mark it up, which is what keeps people coming back. Service is always friendly with great recommendations and warm smiles. I can't wait to go back (in fact, I have already made another reservation!)
