Only downside to the experience was the fact that the wines weren't that amazing. Mostly because of the deep freeze that forced wineries to import from elsewhere. Ice wine from Mission Hill is still amazing. Still, the food, service, and ambience made up for this small hiccup! Will most definitely be back and Mission Hill will be our go-to recommendation spot for our friends!

Definitely has a bit of sweet but not so sweet that it was unbearable. This winery is small but it has a lot of charm and history associated with it. I recommend a tasting to have a taste of their wines and learn the history of their owners. We also grabbed pizza and gelato here. Pizza was good, though there isn't a huge difference in spice between the mild and spicy sausage one. Gelato was good. Get a waffle cone and pistachio. It was DELICIOUS

He truly knows his stuff and represents the winery well. Everything I tried was on the drier side. While I typically don't prefer dry wines, I still found them enjoyable. Beyond the wine, the winery itself is a stunning architectural gem. The building's unique design, with its aged and seemingly "falling" pieces, gives it the feel of a hidden kingdom or lost city. Inside, the dark walls contrast beautifully with a red-and-gold ceiling, reflecting the intricate bottle designs they've created. A breathtaking 17-foot-high ceiling features a striking piece of artwork, making the whole atmosphere feel so French. I originally stopped by as part of my wine-tasting journey and wasn't planning to try anything here due to a long day. But I decided to go for it, and I'm so glad I did--definitely no regrets! At first, I had a private VIP tasting, but soon after, a wine tour group arrived, making the experience even livelier as I got to drink with new friends. There was only one other lady that stepped foot in Kalala while we were there. They had some merchandise, homemade jams and a few 2015 vintage bottles on sale. Wine tastings are $3.00 for four samples. They also have ice wines but those were $3.00/sample. Pricey! We decided to share two tastings. The tasting fee is waived when you purchase a bottle. - 2016 Sauvignon blanc - this was my favourite of the whites we tried. It smelled spicy but didn't taste so. More of a full body mouth feel to it. We bought a bottle ($21.54). - 150 Frizzante - 2014 Dostana malbec - Dostana kiran - this was my favourite out of the 8 wines we sampled. Almost like an ice wine but way less sweeter. - 2016 Kalala pinot gris - 2016 Dostana riesling - 2015 Kalala pinot noir - 2008 Kalala pinot noir - more smooth and quaffable than the 2015 pinot noir. Decent wines at KOV. 3.5 stars.

They were kind enough to open up their new sparkling bottle. - 2022 Flirty 3 - equal blends of gewurtz, pinot gris and riesling. Bought a bottle ($20.99). - 2021 La gauche - smoky but smooth. This was our favourite of the three reds we tried. - 2021 Cabernet franc - 2020 La droite - 2018 Late harvest viognier - not too sweet, good mouth feel. - Blanc de blanc - first time they've made a sparkling pinot blanc. Excellent bubbly. We bought a bottle ($37.99). Too bad they didn't have their blanc de merlot bottled yet.

Our pourer (Chantal) was very friendly and informative. - 2022 Akina rosé - marechal foch grapes. Rosé was supposed to be dry, didn't taste so. - 2021 Riesling - smooth, velvety texture on the mouth. Not too sweet. Bought a bottle ($28.61) for home. - 2022 The flirty 3 - blend of three whites. Sweetest of the whites we tried. - 2018 Merlot - light on tannins, a touch smoky. - 2020 Cabernet franc - bolder flavour, but more tannins. Still one of my favourite organic wineries.

Meandering off the main road and down their unpaved driveway, you are greeted by vines overlooking the lake and a sprawling outdoor patio with fantastical art on display. The interior tasting room is casual, a vaulted wooden structure with a library of wine bottles on display. We were instantly greeted and given a cozy corner (6 ft+ from other patrons, appreciate their safety precautions!) to enjoy our tasting. Visiting from California, it was fun to try wines typical to the Okanagan. I especially enjoyed how light and nuanced the Merlots are, since CA Merlots tend to leave me feeling punched in the face. We ended up purchasing a 2017 bottle of The Greatest Love of Mal to bring home. It was divine, with a taste that danced between chocolate covered cherries and a subtle licorice finish... I can easily (and did), keep sipping until the bottle disappears!

The food, as always, was delicious. The wings were perfectly cooked, Cajun fries had great flavour, beer cheese was delicious and creamy and the beef sliders hit the spot. The wine is an excellent value as they do not mark it up, which is what keeps people coming back. Service is always friendly with great recommendations and warm smiles. I can't wait to go back (in fact, I have already made another reservation!)

We didn't have a reservation but the server was nice enough to give us a complimentary tasting of three wines. They were really good! We ended up purchasing a bottle of sparkling rose! THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall tastings will set you back around $30 CAD and the bottle of sparkling rose we got was around $40 CAD. Will definitely be back at this winery when we're in Kelowna.

They are buttoning up for winter so most of the water related activities are unavailable. The outdoor pools are drained and all the out four furniture is stored. No matter. We came here to relax and that is what we are doing. We have a nice space to spread out in. There's a restaurant and bar in the lobby and it looks as if this place hosts gatherings through the year. The property is clean and we have no qualms with the cleanliness of our suite. We have a nice view from the third floor. I can't speak to the cost of staying here but we got the reduced "winter rate". We spend out anniversaries somewhere up here in The Great White North every year. Cheers!
