The service was great, I emailed after I placed the order to ask them to gift wrap the box and they immediately replied saying it was no problem. They have set boxes but I ordered my own assortment based of what I thought our family would like and boy, was this gift a hit! Their meat selection was phenomenal and so good my uncle now wants to order all of their meat from here. My husband wants to take trip back to the UK just so he can try their steaks! I found the prices to be really reasonable for the product you are getting and the service impeccable. I would definitely order from them again and again!

What a disaster!! Then 10 days later a neighbour in the road opposite left the package on the door step (still in the box now covered in blood and full of flies) saying they had been on holiday and only just got back (so much for the driver having proof of delivery!). Only at this point did they offer a refund/re-delivery. Disastrous customer service......Matt you should have offered a full refund and the product for all OUR inconvenience rather that stating how much time YOU had spent on this. There is a fairly comprehensive produce section, and a reasonable meat section. Again, there aren't any counters, however the fresh meat and deli section is reasonable. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the store is on a busy high street so again, services folk who may not have a car. There is a car park behind this Tesco, however, it is pay and display, regardless of whether you buy anything in Tesco. All in all, a good small supermarket.

As you imagine this was very traumatic and due to severely concust she threw up multiple times in a bush that happened to have leaves even though it was winter so it must of been evergreen. Anyway in this time of crisis I was in desperate need of water and tissue and where better to go than tescos down the road. I sprited past the mass of people to retrieve water for my dying friend. The thing about gourmet butchers is they just don't smell like regular butchers. You know, that over-awing smell that, when hungover, you can't even walk past such a butcher without runniing for the nearest bin. James Elliott smells great (for a butcher!), and has such an impressive selection of free-range and organic meats, all beautifully presented. Staff are so helpful, always happy to help you with cooking times, suggested sides to complement a particular cut of meat, etc. Yes, butchers of this calibre are more expensive than cheaper butchers, but really only buy a couple of quid, which I think is well worth it. No argument at all.

Stunning causes the blood to permeate the flesh so i always buy halal meat. They sell everything- even things you might not think were edible including brain, kidneys, tonguethats right even TONGUE of cows which are edible but which ive never tried. other than that its chicken, red meat, mince etc. They prepare the meat in front of you (chop it up or mince it whatever you ask for) and have the meat in a chiller under the counter (but its visible so you can see what you're buying.) Friendly staff and they always joke with me about buying brains (i think they're sheep brains). Try it for something new or just get your usual meats from here. Cheaper than Tescos and nice people. Recommended.

I love this place. I…read morehope to see my dear friend Wayne (slow-food aficionado, butcher, trained and certified chef) again soon. While we have some truly spectacular butcher shops here in the Bay Area, I must say that the charm and authenticity of Hussey's is on a completely different plane. I mean, you do have to actually board a plane if you want to go there, but it's really a destination level butcher. Their sister store, just down the lane a bit, Hussey's Grocery doesn't have a review written yet - but I'll get to it. I was enthralled from the very first - there's a truly Locals Only Pub that serves Sunday Roast with all the Fixin's - one of Wayne's brothers works the bar there and rotates in to Husseys as well. There's a third brother - I don't believe I had the pleasure of making his acquaintance; most of my interaction was with Wayne. First day in - he humored me: let me take video on an actual camera of him breaking down a beautiful cut of meat for my requested Steak Tartare. His knife techniques are surgically precise and beautiful to behold! I also picked up three house made sausages: pheasant and plum, I believe - or perhaps it was pork and plum. Delicious - perfection. They practice whole animal butchery, and will graciously pause to fill a last-minute order/request or head back to the walk-ins from a primal cut. The butcher block is stunning - Wayne says they never stay 'round much because they're sanded down daily as part of their food safety practice of course, and people just queue up to purchase them. When you do pop by Hussey's, you will note that their eggs are pastured and they do not refrigerate them. You can also carry parcels from the Grocery to the Butcher shop and vice versa on the honor system, and they'll ring you up at either spot. I miss it so much!
