Some of the beers on tap
    Kelsey M.

I went to Crue Brew tonight with my husband and we ended up meeting up with two friends as well, around 5:45. Crue Brew is located in a small industrial park, off the main road. There were a decent number of spots available to chose from. When we walked in, there was a food vendor who greeted us. Then a bartender gave us a food menu, told us we needed to order food, and we could sit anywhere available. We chose a table with 5 chairs and sat down. I overheard a table next to myself and my husband asking for a flight so we decided to get a flight too- it doesn't show that there are flights available on their menu though. 4 beers come in each flight. Our first flight was 21 pumpkins- pumpkin / yam beer- 6% ABV, with a cinnamon sugar rim, French toast- brown ale 4.7 % ABV with a cinnamon sugar rim, grandma's cookies - stout, 5 ABV, and old rusty wagon- Belgian dark ale, 11% ABV. All the beers were great! I was surprised that they had a pumpkin beer still available. We ordered food as well - Lou lou's bbq- my husband and I split a Smokey Mac and cheese bowl with hickory smoked pork and cornbread ($10). We did notice that the table next to us had multiple flights and beers and did not order food. The brewery should be paying better attention to this and make customers order food before serving alcohol. The mac and cheese was ok, nothing amazing. It was clearly sitting there for who knows how long being heated. It wasn't hot, barely warm. The cornbread was ok as well, nothing amazing. For $10 it was an alright price, could've done better though. Once our friends arrived we had another flight, ore yo- stout, 6.9% ABV, sexual chocolate - stout, 6.2 % ABV, cb porter- porter 7%, and night Crue- strong ale, 8%. All were good besides the night crue which I hated completely. One of the bartenders noticed my face that I made when I drank the night crue and offered to replace it, but I said that it was ok and my husband would drink it. Overall, cute, local brewery!

    two glasses of beer

Great local brewery with a huge selection on tap- 22 different beers and in the case to go. There are a lot of different choices from NE IPAs, Belgian, porter, stout, ales, fruit ales, shandy, lager and a new house brewed blueberry seltzer. Super friendly & attentive servers. They don't serve food, but do host good trucks. They had south shore bar pizza on Saturday night. It looked tasty with very laced crusts.

Pretty impressive buildout of another brand new brewery in a warehouse space. You walk in and are greeted by a gal behind a counter who checks Id's. It doesnt matter if you a great great grandfather in a wheelchair you will be carded. A nice fellow also at the door told us enthusiastically about the place and the beer. Pretty nice introduction, they are well staffed and the good service will go along way. We were walked over to this wide open space that is the bar area and that area leads into the rear where the tanks are exposed to all with no wall so you really feel like your in a brewery for sure. It's unique. The monstrously large bar is constructed out of wood with beams and I think it will be quite cozy in the winter. It's obvious the owners spent a few bucks here and I think it came out great. Also some tables. Didn't notice any games. One of the assistant brewers who was serving said they were considering having bands come in. That would awesome. They plan to bring in some tv's for the ballgames #Go Pats and a digital menu board for the beers. No food yet but food trucks will be lined up for the busy nights ahead. They are actually looking so if you know anyone... The beer was really good. We got a sampler of 4 and then added 2 more samples to make it 6. Comes a 5 oz pour so definately enough to taste from a start to finish. The Crue has yet to brew a sour though. Not sure if it is their thing? Maybe they would consider partnering or bringing in another brewery for it in an exchange or something. I'm starting to like sours as a refreshing beverage in this summers heat. On the side I got an Equalizer IPA with a 7.8 ABV with a 96.4 IBU rating. IBU's measure it's hop intensity. For those who want to know "The International Bittering Units scale, or simply IBU scale, is used to approximately quantify the bitterness of beer. This scale is not measured on the perceived bitterness of the beer, but rather the amount of iso-alpha acids." ( I love Wikipedia) The Equalizer was perceived by me to be very hoppy as expected and hits you hard at first before it smooths out with subsequent sips. Dog Walk IPA was a 7.6% but much more milder with IBU's in the 50's and I liked it a bit more. Anyways a solid 4+ This will be a 5 shortly with a bit more variety and the tv's, music, food. It's a great addition to the south of Boston brewery scene. I can see the brew-hopping thing more clearly now. I got the route down.

Great new brewery in Raynham MA. It's in an industrial park. Great beers, great vibe. The beers are reasonably priced, plenty of choices. My wife and I both did flights of 4 beers each. I liked the porter the best, she liked the "Raynham Red and the Dog Walk IPA". It was just my wife and I but there were a bunch of families at the indoor picnic tables and playing games like connect 4. I'm told it just open a couple of weeks ago, we will definitely be returning.

After moving out of Boston,…read moreI was looking for some local breweries to replace my favorites in the city, and am happy to say Vitamin Sea is helping fill the void. The brewery itself is spacious with lots of indoor and outdoor seating and your typical funky, industrial tap room feel. There's often really good food trucks, pop-up coffee stands, live music, trivia nights--you name it. You can also grab cans to-go, peruse their merch selection, and bring your pup along (at least if you're sitting outside, not sure about the tap room). Barrel House Z is also right nextdoor, so if you want to brewery hop a bit, that's an option too. The beers themself also don't disappoint. My husband and I are definitely hazy IPA people, and have found something we love each time we visit. If you're not into that though, your options are definitely more limited. They do always have at least one seltzer and mocktail on the menu if either of those are more your speed. Both the staff and patrons here are so nice, it definitely has a community feel to it. I'm quickly on my way to becoming a regular, and wouldn't have it any other way!

No matter, I can say for sure it was great! This one was refreshing, summery, citrusy, and while sweet, not overwhelmingly so. Something I would 10/10 get again, and need to get my tail end over here before it rotates out! I also have a light fascination with blue food - it seems like it shouldn't exist, but I digress. As for their other offerings, I feel that they have an okay selection. Some seltzers, stouts, sours, and non-alcoholic options were all available. However, the menu was also IPA heavy, and while I appreciate that I may be in the minority, I am not an IPA fan. Though, perhaps that may change in the future with Vitamin Sea's help. The staff have been nothing but kind and welcoming. While typical of places like this, the ability to try samples doesn't go unnoticed. Finally, the vibe is open, hip, and communal. There are lots of picnic style tables, and card/board game available to borrow. Thus, a terrific brewery to spend a weekend afternoon or evening at. The place is open to families and friend groups, and food trucks are here often. Lots to try and enjoy; especially for IPA lovers. Brewery fans will also appreciate another favorite: Barrel House Z throwing distance away.

Because that's essentially how we were treated by our server. She was an older woman with brow hair and the coldest demeanor I have ever encountered in a brewery or restaurant setting. It took fifteen minutes to get menus and another twenty minutes until I got up and just went straight to the bar to order our drinks and food. I know--at that point we should have left, but we have been here before and enjoyed the beer. We tried to politely get her attention several times, and I swear each time she would zoom right by us or even take a totally different path among tables. Like I said, I took my business straight up to the bar and the bartender was super sweet and put our order in and brought our drinks in a couple of minutes. The OG waitress came back with the food order and slammed some napkins down on the table and trotted off. My friend and I both just stared at each other and laughed. We were sitting at a communal table alongside a couple and the gentleman said, "She's got a gentle touch, doesn't she?" We had a good laugh, but the couple confirmed that this had been the vibe since they arrived a half hour before us. In that respect, I guess the OG waitress helped to build community last night, leaving us not to wonder, "Did we do something wrong," but rather, "Woof, wonder what's wrong in her world." It didn't last long though. She stopped by once at last call to which my friend immediately declined. The OG waitress then brought the checks for both parties, though oddly, she collected the couples next to us and the folks behind us, but not ours. We watched the couple leave and the table behind us, and again, we watched the OG waitress totally avoid eye contact and literally clear half our table and surrounding trash, but seemed to be adamant about not taking our cards to process. So again, we traveled to the bar to settle up and leave. The OG waitress came up and was talking to the bartender and clearly stated, "Next time, I'm not doing this. I'm going to be behind the bar and you're gonna be running the floor." Boy, we do love a lack of accountability and a poor team player! In regard to the beer, I ordered the Cape House, which was OK and my friend ordered the Vanilla Cream Madagascar which she really did enjoy. We ordered wings and queso. The wings were super dry and came with what was a low quality, store bought blue cheese dip. The queso cheese was really disappointing--it had a pleasant kick to it, but it also had a grainy texture. The tortilla chips that came with the queso were stale! Unfortunately, I will be back here as they also charged my card TWICE last night. Wish me luck!

From crisp lagers to bold IPAs, the selection is solid, flavorful, and well-crafted. Whether you're a hop head or just looking for something smooth, there's something here for every palate. Friendly Staff The team behind the bar is welcoming, knowledgeable, and quick to offer recommendations. Service is efficient and upbeat, which adds to the overall positive vibe. Kid Overload Unfortunately, the atmosphere takes a hit. At 6:00 pm 8:00, the taproom felt more like a daycare than a brewery. Tables were dominated by birthday parties and families with small children eating cupcakes. While some may appreciate the family-friendly approach, it's jarring for those expecting a classic bar experience. If you're looking for a chill adult night out, this might not be the spot--especially on weekends. Final Thoughts Castle Island has the bones of a great brewery: excellent beer and great staff. But the overwhelming presence of kids makes it hard to relax or socialize. If they offered adult-only hours or designated family times, it could strike a better balance.
