I received a warm welcome when I came aboard & they were engaging in conversation & happy to answer my questions. I observed that Hobbes is kept in excellent working order & equipped with the most up-to-date electronics. The upper deck and galley are sparkling clean. Our meal spread was delicious: thank you Karen! The winds were blowing and we enjoyed a nice sail in the Tacoma Narrows. What an amazing day. Our host made us feel welcome.... like part of the family ...from the beginning. Don't need to worry about doing something wrong as they give very clear instructions. Everything went perfect because the hosts are so organized and thorough in their communications. We did the all day sail including a very tasty lunch about which the host consulted with me in advance. You don't need to bring a thing but your personal items as they have beverages, wraps if it gets chilly or anything you might need. Four of the six of us are 80+ and we were able to manage fine maneuvering on, off and around the boat including using the "head". Each experience depends on the tides, wind, currents, weather and other boat traffic, which makes each day unique and they explain about how these relate to the sea life you see and your itinerary. This review is long overdue. This past spring, deep into the pandemic and feeling depressed because we had to cancel yet another vacation, we decided to replace Hawaii with a staycation in Tacoma. That's when we found Cruise Hobbes. I never thought we would be able to charter a sailboat with a crew for any length of time, but Cruise Hobbes's rates were extremely reasonable! On the appointed day, we met First Mate Karen and Captain Frank at the dock in Gig Harbor and after a quick briefing we were soon underway. In our correspondence, Karen found out that we had to forgo Hawaii. As soon as we stepped foot on deck, we were given leis, which was such a sweet, thoughtful touch! Before our sail, Karen asked us about any food allergies, requests, etc. Our snacks and lunch were delicious and in keeping with the Hawaiian theme. It was a BEAUTIFUL day for a sail. Plus, Frank and Karen are easy-going and a pleasure to spend time with. I highly, highly recommend chartering a trip with them. The sailboat is extremely comfortable. My boyfriend and I just returned from a comfortable majestic cruise on Hobbes. It was sooo Beautiful!! You have to try this! I can't begin to describe the wonder...power, majesty and awe of this cruise especially when they unfurled the sails the sails filled with wind and propelled us forward! I was actually cried tears of joy! It was a very moving experience for both of us! The food was delicious and decadent, full of flavor, even with my low carb dietary restrictions that Frank and Karen worked around effortlessly. Our family did an overnight sail down to Eagle Island with Cruise Hobbes, where the seals were everywhere looking upon us with curiosity. The eagles we calling and the wind gave us just the right amount of blow. Karen and Frank made their beautiful boat feel like our own with there welcoming humble hospitality. By the end of the trip it felt like we had been friends for years. Frank mentored our 14 year old son that has been learning to sail for the last few years, allowing him to be actively involved with the sailing. Karen's home cooked meals and charm really made the trip extra special. We were all very comfortable and happy. This was an experience we will cherish for a lifetime.
