So there I am 2 months before my boyfriend's 31th Birthday... sitting sipping my coffee trying to figure out a good present to get him. The man has everything. Wow! Seattle Helitours is awesome! We had a great time with our pilot Take! He was very friendly and knowlegeable about Seattle geography. We called a few days ahead to make our reservation and Take helped us. He said he'd probably be our pilot as well. When we arrived the lady at the front desk greeted us warmly and we were there only a few seconds when Take popped around the corner to greet us! We immediately went out to the helicopter and got familiar with it. We took off right on time. Even though the weather wasn't the best (sunny but then rainy/windy over Lake Washington) then sunny again, Take maintained excellent control of the helicopter and kept things very smooth. I have traveled a lot and done a lot of touristy things. So living in Seattle I was definitely looking for something fun and different and this was it! The value is incredible and I can't wait to do it again. We have a lot of japanese speaking clients and I'll be sure to pass along this tour to them as Take would be glad to fly them around for a different view of Seattle! read more

My wife scheduled a 30-minute tour over Seattle for the two of us as my birthday present and it was fantastic. I've lived in Seattle for 14 years, but seeing it from overhead like this was really fun. From the minute we walked in and our pilot greeted us (15 minutes early) and said he was fueled up and ready to go, to the time we landed I had a smile on my face. It's really fun to just walk out the office, through the fence, get a brief safety lecture, and then be flying over Seattle in under 5 minutes. Certainly nothing like flying a commercial jet with hours in line, etc. We got to see Mercer Island, Medina, Bellevue, 90 and 520, the U District and UW, Lake Union, Golden Gardens, Shilshole, Magnolia/Elliot Bay, the Space Needle & EMP, downtown from over the waterfront, the stadiums, the Port & finally SoDo (Starbucks, Tullys, etc) on the way back. A jam packed 30 minutes. Even the most mundane parts of the trip were interesting because you're looking at the roads and houses you've been driving by from 500-1000 ft up. The noise canceling headphones and microphones were fun, and it was even interesting to hear all the chatter from air traffic control (there was a blimp in the sky causing some issues for various other folks, apparently). The only downside of the entire experience is that it was over in 30 minutes and it made me wish I was Bill Gates or Paul Allen and commuted to work by helicopter :-) Also couldn't complete this review without a shout-out to my wife (Angie B) for having the foresight to catch the special on LivingSocial that made this a super awesome deal. Really want to impress someone? I mean rrrreeeaaalllly to step one up on that fancy dinner out. Then take the lady or fella out on a helicopter ride over Seattle! Nothing beats this. Using a Groupon deal we were treated to an amazing ride over the greater Seattle area - it was fun taking a peek at all the grand homes spread out along the ports. Our pilot was fantastic and had the best dry humor! The office really does poorly in scheduling. We had the same small conflict as previous Yelpers - getting scheduled for a different day or no confirmation at all. Seriously is it really that hard to set a schedule or take a message? The whole experience was stunning, fun, memorable, and so worth it! They also do sunset flights with champagne as well!! yum! Don't forget to don your pair of cool reflective aviators while sporting the headphones - it just makes you look all the more cooler! read more

My boyfriend bought this as a groupon as part of our road trip down the west coast from Vancouver, BC to Cannon Beach, Oregon. Sure, we got a fantastic deal, but it was definitely worth paying full price for it!!! The staff was fantastic. Originally we were suppose to fly on Saturday morning, but it was pretty cloudy and looked like it was going to rain. So they suggested that we reschedule. We booked ourselves in for monday afternoon and flew with blue skies! Our pilot Take, was wonderful. And it was great hearing about where he was from and how he ended up in Seattle. One of the most beautiful experiences of my entire life. A friend of mine surprised me with a helicopter ride for my 41st birthday. I think this is the most thoughtful birthday present I've ever received. We started at the small white building which I believe is located at the Auburn airport. The pilot and copilot were very informational very professional and very friendly. I felt a little weird in the beginning but I think this helicopter ride was more smooth than being on an actual airplane. We took off from Auburn flew over Kent in Renton. Over Seattle and then off to Snoqualmie Falls. The pilot and copilot pointed out landmarks and cities and we even flew right along side of the space needle in between the buildings. We flew over several different lakes and bodies of water and the grand finale was flying over the top of the Snoqualmie Falls. The pilot flew around The falls twice the second time we were literally looking down into it. Beautiful experience. This is a definite must and great birthday present and even anniversaries or dates like this experience was one I'll never forget. Definitely recommend trying this one time in your life. Lucky for us, it turned out as one of those clear, crisp picture-postcard winter days we get here once in a while just to break up the gloomy gray skies. Visibility was more than a hundred miles, I'm sure. The Cascades and Olympics were draped in new snow. The city glistened. Our pilot was Amanda and it was clear she loved flying and loved her job. She gave us a great tour. If you're a tourist in town or even a long-time resident or native, don't miss this ride, especially when the weather is nice. We had a friend in town from London a couple months back that we wanted to show a good time, so we used the Amazon Local coupon that I had bought earlier in the year for the 3-person, 30 minute tour of downtown Seattle, We couldn't have picked a more beautiful day to do it...nothing but blue skies and sunshine! Anyways, 2 of the 3 of us had never done the helicopter thing before, so we were both a little apprehensive. The pilot was very friendly (wish I could remember his name), and he put our minds at ease right away. Upon takeoff we flew over my house, so he dipped a little further down so we could take pictures of the house from the sky. He flew us so close to the Space Needle that we could see people inside the needle and also on the observation deck! We also were fortunate enough to get a birds eye view of the Seahawks stadium before heading back to the runway. By the way, the most exciting part of the ride was when we were going in for the landing and had to do this crazy swoop down maneuver right over I-5! Even though I bought this tour at a deeply discounted fare, I think it would be worth the full dollar amount. I'd love to do the longer tour that takes you to Snoqualmie Falls and back, so I think we will be lining that up for next summer. My BF has been in helicopters several times before, and he couldn't get over how great of a pilot this guy was. He said the pilot can make all the difference in it being a good experience or a bad one, and ours with HeliTours was top notch! Just finished a 30 minute tour. Pilot was great. Service was great. I would not hesitate to recommend this business. If I could afford it I would do it again tomorrow. Bought the Amazon deal, upgraded to a 30 minute ride. Pilot made it fun but without needless chatter. Easy to contact, easy to schedule, ran on time, felt like we got extra time. We walked out to the tarmac at 1:00 and were back in the office at 1:45 without feeling rushed or like we missed anything. I purchased this helicopter ride for a surprise for my dad's birthday. The day of the flight they canceled, so I rescheduled for a week later. When we show up to the place they told us that they had us down for the day before and we're not going to allow us to have the flight because they were booked. We live about an hour away from the tours so we did not want to have taken a trip up for no ride. They told us we could wait for one of the pilots to get back from Vancouver and said he would be back in about 30 minutes. We ended up waiting 2 and a half hours. The only think that made the trip worth it was our pilot Dan. He was more than happy to extend his work day and made the ride enjoyable. read more

I bought a Groupon for their 20/30 minute helicopter tour (depending on how many people you bring). I have experienced unfortunately nothing but terrible customer service and have decided to have my groupon refunded because I didn't want to give Seattle Helitours my business. I called over a week ago to schedule a tour and they said that someone would have to return my call to schedule a tour since they were busy at the time. I waited 6 days and no phone call. After calling on Fri 1/28, they said that they were booked until 1/31 and that they would not honor my full Groupon deal since it was after the expiration date. I had explained that I had called a week prior to make an appointment and they said they would call me back but no one called and the woman said "A lot of people have been saying that." I asked if they could make an exception and extend the deal to the first week of February for me since they were the ones who did not return the phone call and she said no. Again she said "someone would call me back." I waited for three hours for their call and spoke with a different woman who also said "someone would call me back" but no one has called. They wanted to only give me credit for $135, what I paid for on Groupon, but I felt that they should have made an exception since they were the ones who would not make an appointment for me nor have someone call me back to make an appointment. I'm sure that the views are amazing and once you get an appointment the customer service is amazing. But it feels like they're trying to make it difficult to use the Groupon by the expiration date just so they can make more money. It's disappointing. read more

there was a slight mixup during my reservation when i called 5 days before to confirm, they said there was no record of me, and they were busy all-day on my original reservation. i was rescheduled and availability was pretty good otherwise- the pilot, take, was really nice, and the views were amazing. the flight was 27 minutes (estimated 25-30), so we were satisfied with what we got. you get one of those noise cancelling headphones and talk through the mic and those were really fun! read more

My girlfriend got me a helitour for my birthday. I was amazed by not only the view but the service. D, the pilot, was not only knowledgeable and accommodating but had a great personality. He also offered us insights into the industry that further enhanced our experience. Prior to take off he gave us a run down of sites to look forward to seeing. We were amazed to discover they did demo flight classes that we definitely plan to take advantage of in the future. The only downside is that we booked our trip on a day when the Mariners were playing so regulations inhibited us from flying closer to some landmarks. Luckily another company hooked me up with a tour, but I do have to say that the staff at classic helicopters were very good and they refunded my deposit without question. A helicopter tour is definitely something everyone should experience whether you're a local or a tourist. I've lived in Seattle my whole life and have always known how gorgeous it is, but having a bird's eye view of different parts of the city is totally different and completely amazing! Luckily it was bright and sunny out. I was nervous that it would be rainy or cloudy since it is only March. The pilot was very friendly and I didn't have any hassle booking the flight for our anniversary. I really enjoyed the whole experience of riding a helicopter and enjoying the spectacular views. As my MO is procrastination--I did not do that this time. A couple weeks ago we used one of the coupons to give our 3 employees a flight over Seattle. These were 3 very excited ladies before they left, and words can't describe what they had to say about their flight after. THEY LOVED IT! Hoping to go again. They have private financing and a very detailed course syllabus so I always knew where I was doing well and where I needed improvement.
