In general I try to avoid Boots because it's way over priced for a lot of brands. For example I…read morebought some Manuka honey sweets here in the winter, then as I was passing the nearby Natures Way store I decided to check if they had it also. It was over 2 EUR cheaper than Boots. However, swings and roundabouts, I am a fan of is the Boots own brand hand cream, which is very reasonable and goes on lovely. I was here today because I couldn't find what I was looking for in Dunnes, so I checked boots and they had it. As for this store, it's well laid out. This Boots is better than the one on Grafton street, but only because it's got more space. They do have a great selection of all your usual pharmacy fare. It's bright and clean. Staff are generally friendly and very helpful. But as a rule, I try to shop in a supermarket or in your run of the mill chemist down the road, but as a last resort Boots is reliable

This is a fantastic Boots - of course it has all of the usual boots offerings but the pharmacy…read morereally sets it apart. There are two pharmacists and both are really great. They offer really good advice and I usually go in here before I decide to visit the doctor. A perfect example was last month when I had a really sore throat. They now offer a "Sore Throat Test and Treat Service" so they took a swab from my throat and were able to tell me in a few minutes what the cause was. As it was not bacterial (Strep Throat) they told me i could treat it with over the counter medicines. If it had been Strep Throat they would have sent me to my doctor to get antibiotics. It only cost me €7.50 and saved me the time and expense of visiting my doctor. On many occasions they have given me really helpful advice about the medicines I was taking and they are very friendly and approachable.

Open until 10pm you probably won't find a later opening pharmacy in the area, and because of it's location on O'Connell Street near O'Connell Bridge you would find yourself passing it reasonably often. Location brings other things too, like the constant feeling that the security people are going to jump you if you move too close to anything in the shop! And price are a little higher than the more suburban pharmacies, but I guess you can't complain when the location and opening hours probably make that necessary.

One more thing worth mentioning is that it has a digital photo machine that prints and does enlargements.

Let's be absolutely clear: this is not a terrible pharmacy. In fact, given that it's located inside…read morethe hospital I'm going to say they're operating to a higher standard. But while this is not a terrible pharmacy, it certainly isn't late night either. My mission for cold medicine at 9.45pm led to the grounds of St James Hospital - my iPhone Yelp app tagged it as an option (hey, how great is that?). Once in, a quick quiz of the porter on duty at the hospital entrance drew an understandable deep sigh. "This hasn't been a late night pharmacy in five years. Why do they* keep sending people here?" As I discovered, 24 Hour pharmacies seem to be rare on the level of philosophers stones and faberge eggs in Dublin. For those in need of cold remedy after hours your best bet is to search for an open Spar or Centra (the larger the better) and hope they've got what you need behind the counter. In the case that this pharmacy changes its name I'll gladly change my review -nothing makes one feel more like a grinch than labelling a hospital resource with one star. *"They" being an unnamed directories enquiry service that isn't too swift on updating listings.
