The name says most of what this store contains. On the west wall is a sizeable collection of small pebble-sized crystals and semi-precious stones, with some larger pieces around $10 or $15. On the south and east sides of the shop there are glass cases with larger and more exquisite crystals. I was really impressed with the variety in both locations, and especially the selection and display of their finer pieces. Most stores with crystals really have less than 10 varieties to choose from, but not here. The other half of the store contains a carefully selected section of metaphysical and spiritual books. They had two of Alex Grey's picture books--they are for real here! I saw that they also offer custom made jewelry. This store is not cluttered, but open with more space. The atmosphere and music was conducive to easy browsing for the most part, though I think they could have improved it by lighting some incense and not talking so loudly... I would recommend this store for those who are looking to browse for crystals or books. It is not over the top, too 'far' out, or an imitation, but simply what it is. read more

I'm always so busy looking at men walking by that I never noticed this shop, but recently went in with my cousin and I fell in LOVE with it! The Crystals are absolutely beautiful and I love all of the stones and the jewelry and I found some very interesting pieces. I also noticed candles, tarot cards, books, and other Mystical/Psychic sort of items in this shop. There are also books. I am currently working with a Psychic in El. Cerrito in the East Bay but I would love to bring her in. I believe this shop is very well known and has been around for ages. I feel that this shop is credible and authentic, and flowing with good karma and energy. I believe that Crystal Way also offers an outlet to other services in the psychic realm. We stumbled upon this shop on our vacation and fell in love. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and very kind. I'm not sure what the other reviews are referring to, I got nothing but great vibes from the staff. While we were in the shop we noticed they offered readings, I myself am a skeptic but my wife convinced me to get a reading anyway...I was astounded to say the least. Maria amazed me with her ability, everything she said to me was an accurate assessment of what was going on in my life at the time. To this day I find myself reflecting on what she told me and using that information in my daily life. I wish we lived closer, I would go to her on a regular basis. While I was getting my reading, my wife fell in love with a stone, it was a beautiful piece of Moldavite that she ultimately decided not to get but then changed her mind once we got back home on the East Coast. When she called, the staff member remember her and they were happy to process the order via telephone and ship it expediently...my wife had that stone in her hands in two days. To me, that's awesome customer service. Since that reading with Maria I can no longer say I'm a sceptic, she hit the nail right on the head and knew things I never told her...I can't explain it but I do believe it. My husband and I enjoyed this little shop on Market Street. We bought four Selenite crystals which John and a very nice store clerk took the time to explain their properties, how to use them, etc. etc. The prices are reasonable for San Francisco and the owner even brought more out from the back so I had a wider selection to choose from. We were surprised to find a line outside the door but after going in we learned it was so worth the wait! The staff/owners were super careful about COVID and only allow four people in at one time. They made sure to sanitize our hands at the door so we could touch the crystals, because you need to feel their energy to know what crystals are yours. They were kind and informative, helping us understand what some of the more nuanced properties of the crystals were. The properties of the crystals were rather strong--I was surprised at how much I could feel from them in a storefront, but I think it's because of the calm and relaxed atmosphere of the store, and the purity of the crystals. I have minimal experience in crystal healing and my wife is a novice, so the unobtrusive attention was very appreciated. We ended up getting about a dozen crystals of various sizes and properties, and we will be back. We were so thrilled with our experience and can't wait to go back soon. read more

Nice array of crystals, gem stones, and artsy jewelry, beautiful and unique pieces of art from local artists, ever changing displays and merchandise so there's always something new! I've gone here for years and the vibe has always been healing. The owners are very knowledgeable and helpful. They aren't the type of sales people who are going to jump at you the moment you walk through the door as they try to create a meditative and healing atmosphere (and are successful at this). I really wish my visit to The Crystal Way could have been enjoyable, but it wasn't in the slightest. To start, my younger sister and I walked into the small shop where there were no other customers but ourselves, and the man at the counter messing with a pendulum. ("Will these children buy something?" Probably) He didn't so much as say hello or even look in our general direction. I don't even know what his name was. My sister and I meandered about the shop, taking interest in the decent selection of crystals and tumbled stones, which was the one reason I wanted to visit this shop in the first place. The products were horrifically overpriced, even for being located in the Castro. My sister and I were trying to decide if we absolutely needed the 15$ selenite worry stone when our youngest sister walks in with our aunt, who went and started rifling through the basket of pathetically small crystal animals priced at 7$ apiece. My sister found a green aventurine cat and held it up to look at it. "It's jade! It's a jade cat!" (My sister is 7 and for whatever reason LOVES the jade stone) At this point, we were in the store about 15 minutes when the man finally decides to say something. He looked at my sister and said rather nastily "That's called Green ADVENTURINE" Adventurine. He put emphasis on the wrongly placed d in green AVENTURINE. Usually I don't get this mad about someone mistaking aventurine for adventurine or what-have-you, but this man had already irked me to the point where I wanted to leave and never come back, and he was supposed to know what the hell he was talking about, and he shot down a 7 year old for naively calling it jade. That was the last straw. We bought the damn cat and left. I will never come back to this store. read more

I have to review John Mullin. He has many facets to his gifts from healing, spirit communication which helps unblock my crown so that i can channel spirits he has that effect on many people. I agree with the comments on customer service here. Not a 'warm' place by any stretch of the imagination. So I usually go instead to "Love of Ganesha" in the Haight for crystals and statues, because it's the polar opposite, warm, kind, inviting, and welcoming. And much better prices. Also, I even go all the way out to Spirit Matters in Point Reyes Station for the same inviting experience. I felt the energy flow and was put into a very relaxed state it was amazing to feel that as John was in San Francisco CA and I am in New Westminster BC. Poor quality products for a high price. I had read the negative reviews about the jeweler, but I didn't think I'd have a problem buying a pack of tarot cards. I had been using the same tarot deck for about 7 years and it was getting worn out. I had bought the deck at Psychic Eye (too bad they closed their SF branch). Anyway, I bought what I thought would be the same deck at Crystal Way as a replacement. When I got it home and took it out of the plastic, I noticed it was printed on cheap, thin paper. There's no way this deck would hold up to regular use (it would probably die in less than 2 months). The next step worse would be trying to shuffle paper napkins. I tried to return it and the man refused stating, "the pack's been opened." Ofcourse it was open, there was no other way to see that it was a cheap deck while it's sealed. He replied, "You could have seen samples in the binder, but then again, you can't take the samples out so you wouldn't have known what kind of paper you'd get." Basically, he told me that I was screwed. I asked him point blank, " So I'm stuck with these?" and he replied with a yep and then ignored me. No apologies, no acknowledgment that the product was bad. I refuse to go to a store that doesn't stand behind the quality of its merchandise. Crystal Way struck me as the kind of place that will take your money any way they can. The poor man in front of me before I tried to make my return was buying all these products to help him sleep. If you want to shell out money for delta wave CDs and get advice like put poppy seeds in your chamomile tea, this is the place to go. I got the vibe that this was the Jenny Craig of new age stores. Pay your money and think you're getting spiritual fulfillment with a pat on the back. The guy at the register was all smiles and giggles when he sold all the stuff to insomniac in front of me, but I got the cold shoulder when I was not offering to spend money.** Also, a warning to those sensitive to fragrance. There's a bunch of scented candles and incense. Be prepared for it to stink like a bordello when you walk in the store. **Note: This is only a review about the merchandise in the store. I searched for the right engagement ring at about 15 stores around SF. I couldn't find anything interesting enough in my size. Crystal Way has a lot of unusual and interesting rocks and a jeweler (George- there Thursdays through Sundays) who can make whatever you like for a reasonable price. I paid $225 for a ring made exactly of my own design and with two stones from the shop. He made a wax representation of the ring first so I could check the size, etc and request any adjustments. Crystal Way exceeded my expectations -- I really enjoyed my time in the shop. Linda was so kind and helpful, even as the shop got busy she was smiling with warmth. There is an impressive selection of stones and crystals, and not just all the usual suspects. I found a lovely amphibole quartz and later incorporated it in an energy healing session for a client. The info on this quartz indicates using it to contact angels -- well, the feedback my client gave bore that out even though she did not know the purpose of the amphibole. It was a powerful experience and I am blessed to have this quartz in my collection. CW had a book on creating crystal grids by the authority Judy Hall that I didn't know she had written, and it is now on my shelf. It's a wonderful and ready resource. But I wasn't done yet! I visited The Castro on a Saturday night specifically to visit The Crystal Way. I left the store with several titles recommended me by a teacher at home in Los Angeles. The store seemed inviting and spacious. I would love to take classes here, if I lived closer... I didn't make inquiries about the crystals since I didn't need any. I only needed books. I came here waaaaay back in the day (we're talking many moons ago) and was glad to see this shop still here amidst all the hypergentrification in the Bay Area. They do seem to have the same carpet and the place could use a bit of an update but there's a nice healing vibe, great selection,awesome jewelry, I had a lovely talk with the woman working at the counter who does readings of some kind there and I somehow managed to make us both LOL with my observations about the changes in the neighborhood rather than get depressed. I'm all for change, for real, but the rapidly encroaching, voracious monoculture that is devouring San Francisco breaks my heart, and places like The Crystal Way are a welcome and very much needed respite from that. read more
