Love this shop in Carytown. It's a perfect place to find a unique gift. While it can be a bit pricey, there is something at every price point. The employees are always really kind and I love that they have a lot of items we wanted to purchase while in Paris but had no room for. This is a cute shop! I don't know that I've ever personally purchased anything on any of my visits thus far, but there's a wide range of options for gifts. They do lean on the more expensive side. This is a fun store to stop in if you're already in the area - they have their own dedicated parking lot since it's in a fairly large strip mall - it's ALWAYS busy on weekends and hard to find parking but they do have some additional in the back, street parking and public parking garages around. This store is, as expected, French themed. They have some nice home goods, mostly kitchen items. Some beautiful coffee-table and high quality books inside as well as a few art pieces and outdoor things. The staff aren't really friendly and welcoming but that's fine with me as long as they aren't outwardly room. But they don't go out of their way to greet you or ask if you need help either. Beautiful home decor and storefront but the woman working made me and my partner feel extremely uncomfortable while shopping. She continuously followed us throughout the store and repeatedly asked if we would like to take items we were holding for purchase up to the counter as if we were thieves and not paying customers. I was very disappointed in her behavior and couldn't bring myself to continue shopping. read more

I strolled into Creme De La Creme on a whim and was immediately drawn to the abundance of french country homegoods that encompassed the store. This place was filled with trendy and unique little trinkets for your home. Each item I came across was more stunning than the one before. Think french porcelain signs, unique vinyl tiles, posh design books and festive holidays candles. They didnt just name this place Creme de La Creme for nothing, it is pricey. How pricey you ask?? Well for starters a candle cost almost 50 bucks just to give you a frame of reference. This store has some very nice items in it. However that's the only positive thing about it. The snarky old woman with glasses greeted other patrons with enthusiasm and always loud about it but didn't even return my hello. She watched me the whole time as if I would steal. I'm not a thief and I could buy anything in that store if I wanted to. They chose to discriminate against me because of my race. You know when you are being discriminated against. I will never return to this place and I will tell everyone that I know about my experience there. read more

I hadn't realized until closer investigation, that this was not only home devote, but a pet store. They have mice in their display windows. In fact, the entire wing is infested, poop in the display. Better not chance bringing home Stuart Little and friends from this establishment. read more

I stumbled into this shop while in Carytown today and LOVED it. For a shop in Carytown, it's huge and full of gorgeous, cute housewares with an eclectic "Anthro" vibe. Most items are priced fairly, not cheap but not breaking the bank. I was obsessed with the owl paper placemats and glass catch-all trays, as well as the animal rugs and super cute Christmas ornaments. It was a Saturday and busy, and I didn't really see who was an employee and who wasn't, but honestly I didn't care about being greeted or anything because everything was so cute, I'd shop here anyway. Also I'm not the kind of person who cares if I'm greeted in a store as long as I can find help if I need it. I didn't buy anything today but made some mental notes and will def be back!!!! read more

I really love the merchandise in the store but the no cash policy means I will no longer be shopping there. I understood it during Covid but now that Covid is over there is no reason for it. My 15 year old daughter wanted to buy me something there as a gift (we were shopping together and she went to buy me something while I was shopping) but could not because of the no cash policy and my 15 year old doesn't have a credit card. Also, sometimes I go out with a certain amount of cash to "fun spend" in a store like that without using my debit or credit card. Frankly it's a bit snobby. I hope they change the policy or change owners to a small business I can support- and who isn't discriminatory to young people or people who don't want to use plastic. Ni worries though, your loss is another small business's gain. read more

I stumbled upon this place one day last year and thought it was so cute. I've since been back a few times when I'm in Carytown, and I just love the cute things they sell. Only downfall is that things are very pricey, not for everything but a lot. So I have to be selective when I'm shopping here! They do have a day in July when they give 30% off one item, which is France's Independence Day. It's a French themed store, so yea. I'm glad I was in there to find out about that as I was eyeing a front doormat that has a black cat on like mine :) I'd definitely recommend this place of you are looking for some unique gift ideas and for something just yourself! I spent over an hour browsing this store and enjoyed every moment of it. It's filled with all kinds of treats and treasures and is absolutely perfect for picking out unique gifts for people. It has a lot of homegood items: ceramics, dish sets, table clothes, soaps, posters which are all very high quality and reasonably priced. The shopkeepers were all super pleasant and very helpful with explaining the products and helping me pick out items. I highly recommend stopping in and supporting this business. read more

The person working did not greet me only said "Can I help you find something"? I said "No thank you I am just browsing, but HELLO." She says, "Oh yes HELLO" I begin to look around and she began to follow me around the store. I went to the other side of the store, and then another customer came in. She immediately greeting the customer with "WELCOME!" IF YOU ALL DO NOT WANT BLACK PATRONS OR ARE SO WORRIED ABOUT THEM STEALING JUST PUT UP A SIGN THAT NO BLACKS ARE ALLOWED. It would make life much better. I am a registered nurse, have been for 10 years, i specialize in behavioral health, this was not just my imagination, but a professional opinion. Stumbled across this place because of the name; it's very French inspired and is loaded with stationary items, soaps, kitchen utensils along with gift items.
