I scheduled an appointment, however, you can just walk-in. I gave the name of the person who referred me, signed in, and presented my drivers license and social security card (you must present proof address / ID / proof of SSN). I was amazed and how clean and organized the facility is (as it should be a sterile environment- indeed it was!). One strange thing I found though was that literally every clock I looked at was wrong so if you need to know the time, check your own phone or watch haha! For your first appointment, you'll want to have about 3 hours set aside because you do have to go through prescreening to make sure you are a healthy donor so to speak. They'll have you watch a video about the process, answer questions to make sure you qualify (for example, you can't donate if you AIDS or if you're at high-risk for certain blood diseases like AIDS or hepatitis such as an intravenous drug user. You'll get a little finger prick to test your blood, and a little physical too like checking your heartbeat, lymph nodes, etc. easy stuff. You'll also go over your medication. Next you'll be taken to a super comfy chair for the process. Everyone takes a different amount of time (30-90 mins average). My draw took one hour. It will go through a couple of cycles of withdrawing blood, separating the plasma, and then putting the red blood cells back to you. Super easy. I just laid their with my ear buds in listening to a podcast and scrolling instagram and the time flew by. The staff was so knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. Not only are you saving lives by donating plasma, you're also treating yourself by earning money. You earn money each donation (right now it's $100 per donation (not a gift card!!) for the first 8 donations), you can earn money referring people (contact me if you'd like, I can give you my name and an extra $5 bonus for you!, you can earn bonus money, you can also earn points in their rewards program that you can redeem for a gift card with certain companies like Subway or Home Depot for example). It's a win-win for everybody! After years of contemplating donating, I'm so glad I took the leap and did it. I helped someone else earn money through the referral, I made my $100, and I feel good knowing my plasma is going to be saving lives! I'll be going back again and again. They are very friendly and competent. Going back about 50 years I used to donate to the Red Cross. Red Cross does wonderful things for people in need but I found out that they were charging local hospitals an exorbitant amount for blood. That is why local hospitals approached Unyts which had been an organ donor organization to start collecting blood for them. So all the blood collected by Unyts goes to local hospitals. The Red cross sends much if not all of what they collect to other areas so they can get a good price for the blood.

Haven't had a bad needle prick yet, which is very important when giving blood for me. They take very good care of you from time you walk to the time you walk out. Never long wait times, with or without an appointment. I was a regular blood donor, but recently my iron has been low, the staff has always given me good advice on how to get my iron back up. P.s.they give out great gifts for donations. But don't let that be the only reason you donate. It is very easy to make appointments. Highly recommend if a donor or interested in donating, this is your spot.

I just went to give blood at the Bidwell/Elmwood bus location this morning. After answering a…read moremillion questions about 5 x each, which is the norm, the girl taking the blood stuck in the needled, then she partially pulled it out and repositioned, which was painful. Still not right! she repositioned with the same need 3 times--I told her to stop. I didn't even take a bandaid form this imbecile. I ran from the bus. On the contrary our church had a drive in June and the initial girl knew she couldn't do it, so called the "expert" to do it. Worked fine. No problems. I wish they had listened to me, as I requested the best person to do it. I am NEVER going back to any location, Takes too much of my time to get to the end and have a dummy that can't find the vein.

Serious Safety Concerns and Management Negligence I am…read morewriting this as a long-term, frequent donor (6+ months) to warn others about the declining safety standards and unprofessional conduct at this Octapharma location. During a recent donation, a specific technician's negligence (Ashley) caused a significant blood spill across my arm and the donor bed. Rather than following OSHA bloodborne pathogen protocols or prioritizing donor safety, the technician instructed me to "stay where I was" and remain in the spreading blood. When I expressed concern, her response was a dismissive "it happens," showing a complete lack of accountability for a serious medical error. Due to this technician's repeated passive-aggressive behavior and this specific safety incident, I requested to be serviced by a different staff member during my next visit--a standard right for any patient or donor in a medical setting. Instead of addressing the safety history, the Assistant Manager gave me an ultimatum: submit to this specific technician's care or face a permanent deferral. This was at the behest of the Center Manager (Roxanne), who was not present that day. I have observed a pattern where team members are defended by the managers regardless of the accuracy of their actions or the validity of a concern. This hinders the team's growth by removing the necessary feedback loop required for professional development and accountability. When I stood on principle and requested to speak with the Center Manager to report the prior safety violation, the Assistant Manager refused to escalate the issue and instead called the police to remove me--despite my remaining calm and simply requesting to speak with a supervisor regarding the safety violation. This resulted in a permanent deferral. It is clear that this center prioritizes protecting negligent staff over donor safety and professional ethics. If you value your health and want to be treated with basic dignity, I recommend finding a center that takes biohazard protocols and donor boundaries seriously.

Even the interaction you see among their co-workers tells me that they are genuine! Attitudes and demeanor speaks volumes to me about any company and the staff here are exemplary. Overall better than CSL except for 2 big things. Prometic pays $10-$15 less per donation and has new and unnecessarily strict rules on tattoos. Permanent deferral for a small tattoo design by my ear because it counted as a "face tattoo". This was not the employees fault, everyone I interacted with while there was exceptionally helpful and kind and I wish I could donate here instead of CSL. The new KEDPLASMA management that is taking over should reconsider their discriminatory tattoo policy as it turned away a perfectly good regular donor.

Sometimes you are in and out, other times it takes an hour to just get seated. I've yet to find a slow time so I just mentally prepare each time to be there for a while. The staff is always friendly and there to answer questions. I think that the nicer you are, the nicer they are. Basic customer service stuff! The process itself is pretty simple. I like to use the time I'm donating to catch up on shows that my toddler won't let me watch when I'm home! If someone is looking to make some extra money, meets the qualifications, and have patience for a potentially long wait, this is for you!
