I reviewed and updated My Chart and checked in online, so I didn't have to do it in the office; I only had to pay my co-pay. I had an address correction on My Chart, and after that was done, I waited only a few minutes before I was called back for my appointment with Dr Adrien DiVittorio. After taking my weight, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, the nurse asked the usual questions about changes in medications and issues I've had since my last visit. After summarizing what I needed to discuss with Dr. DiVittorio, I waited until he arrived. Dr. DiVittorio had already reviewed My Chart updates and the summary, so we got right to him asking questions and changing medication to get better results. I was given a sample inhaler to start on and will follow up with the nurse practitioner in four months to see how I do on the new regimen. I like how Diagnostic and Medical Clinic and Dr. Adrien DiVittorio's Office work. Their system is very efficient. The time you have with the doctor is the limitation Medicare gives him, not what the doctor chooses to provide you with.

They performed a moes surgery and he had to wait 30 minutes for the result. It's now 11:00am and he's still waiting for the result. I just spoke to the receptionist to complain and she finally went back. She said he was clear and they are just waiting for a room to stitch him up. He was finally called back to get stitched up. Except for stitch removal, this is the first and last time seeing this doctor.

I arrived at 9:10 am and sat in the office waiting until 10:00 am then got taken back to a office to be seen. After the nurse took my vitals she left and said the doctor would be right in. Twenty more minutes or so passed - still no doctor and I had to leave. The people working in this office are not professional and I get the impression they feel they are doing you a favor by letting you have an appointment. She is dishonest, cold, and completely unfit to work with terminally ill patients. I came to her during one of the most vulnerable times of my life, battling stage 4 cancer. Instead of compassion, I was met with lies, avoidance, and outright negligence. She deliberately gave me false information and dismissed my care needs multiple times -- not just once. She's not only untrustworthy, she's dangerous. Palliative care is supposed to be about improving quality of life. Charlotte Byrd made mine worse. She lied to get out of doing her job, left me without support, and treated me as a burden, not a human being. Her behavior is not only unethical -- it borders on medical malpractice. No one in this condition should have to endure her attitude, her deception, or her refusal to fulfill basic responsibilities. I do not feel safe around her and I fear for any other patient under her care. I have reported her to hospital administration and am filing a formal complaint with the Alabama Board of Nursing. I strongly urge Mitchell Cancer Institute to remove her from their staff immediately. No patient--especially someone in palliative care--should be treated like this. She should be fired. Immediately.
