This is between the Grand Avenue and Clark/Division stations. Inside there's kind of a bad odor and there's a few sketchy people but that's typical stuff around. There's plenty of other stations you can get to from here quickly. Has a shitload of shopping as if you didn't know. It has some fast food like McDonald's if the hipster food is too high brow for your tastes. The best thing about this station is no long waiting.

It serves the Brown and Purple Lines. This is one of the busiest stops. It's a wider platform but it still gets packed. The trains seem to be much less frequent here when it's not rush hour as well. Many people waiting a long time, making this get extra crowded. The best thing about this situation is you can get some good views from here. A few things good, and many bad. It especially sucks when it's cold. The good thing is it's close to the Merchandise Mart entrance and you can find many good restaurants and shops.

Not only was he attentive to the rules of the road. But his level of hostility and consideration was beyond expected. Per my observation, not only did he acknowledge every passenger with a greeting upon boarding, but as they exited he wished them a good night and said be safe. My sole purpose for writing this review is because as human beings we're programmed to focus on and point out the negative especially a negative experience. So I deemed it necessary to reciprocate that by expressing my gratitude and not only should I acknowledge this young man, but your organization (CTA) should as well. His service exceeded my expectation and was beyond satisfactory.

Grand station was the closest to the hotel where we stayed, so we often went to this one whenever we traveled to further neighborhoods in the city. It's a busy station and very reminiscent of the NYC subway.

The platforms really look similar, and are pretty easy to navigate. There is usually a staff member in the help booth and they're pretty nice if you're confused (I had to ask one of them a question the first time I rode the CTA). Overall, I think the number of stops/lines available is pretty good; it's not quite as good as NYC or other countries e.g. Seoul, SK -- but if you're staying downtown for instance, you can get around pretty easily and to/from the airport with minimal walking to get to a nearby station and either connect to or go direct to the airport. I'm very glad the CTA is available as an option for visitors and folks who live here since parking is paid almost everywhere, and definitely limited (especially downtown!).

Being a big city, you might meet an occasional character, but at no time did I feel unsafe. Full disclaimer I usually use Monroe right around rush hour or early evening. The station has a customer service agent in the booth, and is well lit. While it could benefit from a thorough pressure washing, it's not terrible cleanliness-wise. Seating is extremely limited at one bench for the whole station, but that's understandable for a 24 hour underground train stop. Monroe is not accessible, though there are up escalators. The station is also fairly easy to navigate. All this would equal a three star rating. The issue comes with the stairs in the winter. While they were salted, it seems the foot traffic has worn the salt out somewhat. While it wasn't a stair shaped hockey rink, I felt that the steps in winter were at times too slippery for comfort. More salt (or just "salt" more often) was called for.

Take reservation, charge transportation to valid credit card. Then, do not deliver. Customer stranded at night. AmRide not out of pocket for one cent.!!. Wonder how much revenue is taken by AmRide, booked and NOT!! provided. Some customers get discouraged, tired, disgusted and do not follow up for refunds and credit for damages incurred. Silence is their friend in these cases. Obvious AmRide hides behind their email when it comes to doing the right thing, and pay for damages. There are more damages, however we keep our $229 damages minimal. NO email answer from AmRide. In addition, investigation is revealing a troubling pattern of abuse, non concern and denial. Online reviews, clearly indicate deep problems without solutions. BBB website has numerous complaints, with very serious operational problems. Once again, pattern shows AmRide has no customer service. AmRite website gives a much different picture of how customer matters. Sad, however AmRite is the one that has to live with your less than satisfactory actions.
