This is a decent little gas station/convenience store that came in clutch for me while I was staying nearby in downtown Omaha. First thing to know, Downtown Omaha is kind of a grocery store desert - or at least that was the impression I got from my visit. We were travelling with our toddler and while I KNOW she should be 100% off bottles, we are picking our fights and she still enjoys one with her milk in the morning and in the evening. That being said, we only brought two bottles and planned on cleaning them as we went. Our only problem was we forgot dish soap. After asking the front desk where would be the easiest place to find some they recommended Cubby's and they were right! While you pay convenience store prices, it was easy to pick up what we needed and they had a few options which was nice. The store itself has a good variety of food, snacks, odds and ends, and likely serves as a little grocer for anyone who lives nearby. I wouldn't say I loved this place so much I would definitely return, but I will say it was clean, had what we needed, and was conveneint, which really was about all I could ask for in a nearby convenience store. read more

I go to Cubby's fairly often, since it's what we have for a grocery store in the Old Market. Obviously prices are going to be higher here for most things than they would be if you went out of the Old Market. It can be kind of hectic in there sometimes, but staff are nice and keep things going. They have a nice meat counter. Also they serve a large variety of prepared or ready-to-prepare gas-station foods such as chicken, sandwiches, and Godfather's pizza. They also have some nice cheeses and things if you want to be a little more fancy. I like that they have some vintage items from former local restaurants on display. Gives it a unique feel that's appropriate to this historic area. They sell gas here, too. I've never bought it because I have an EV, which honestly is not at all convenient to have in the Old Market; it would be easier to purchase gas here than it is to access a charger in this part of town. read more

I needed ice in a pinch for a function at the river front and thank goodness for cubbys. it's the only convenient store/gas station in the old market area. I was in and out with 5 bags of ice and they even let me take the shopping cart to my cart to load. Very efficient. read more

May 2, 2025, Downtown, Omaha, NE. Surprised to see the store has Casino Slot Machines on one side and a small food market on the other side. The people working there look like they are half asleep and look like they do not want to be there working. How can a town so prosperous not put in a Drug Store like CVS or a decent Food Mart. Even Manhattan, NY has a CVS and lots of Food Marts on every other corner. This was the only place in town to get groceries items. I was staying at a nearby hotel and asked for a recommendation of a place to stop in and pick up some wine and snacks. The hotel desk clerk suggested Cubby's, and wow, it was above and beyond what I would have expected for a convenience store! The wine selection was actually really solid -- the only confusion I had was that the white/chilled wines are in one place and the reds are in a totally different place. So I spent about 15 minutes going, wait, do they only have white/chilled wine? Then I went to check out and found the reds up front. Another bonus - there's actual real food here, not just gas station munchies. So I was able to get some decent cheese and crackers to go with our wine. It was a perfect little hotel snack with friends happy to catch up over a little vino! The only thing that was weird about the visit was that the cashier basically wasn't paying attention to me at all - instead almost profiling another customer and watching him move around the store while ringing up my stuff. Sadly folks, Cubby's is it it you're looking for groceries downtown. Going late at night is always an adventure but you might have to "run the gauntlet" at any hour because crazy people never sleep and they love to hang out at Cubby's. Be forewarned, they lock up at around one AM for half an hour to do some bookkeeping so they're not technically open 24 hours. The produce and meat sections aren't exactly Whole Foods but they're way better than you'd expect at a convenience store. Cubby's - think a combination of an upper-end convenience store and a butcher shop with some cooked items, liquor, fresh fruits and vegetables, and more. Prices, for a convenience store, were actually fair. It is also a gas station and who knows what else. Our flight was canceled and we ended up staying the night in Omaha. We went here to find some things to bring back to our room. We picked up some of their fried chicken, some packaged items, a small bottle of liquor, and some deserts. The chicken was pretty good and the prices were right. If you are in the Old Market, it is the only gas station there. Their meat section really looked good, although we didn't get anything since we couldn't cook in our hotel room. They really have almost everything you need. read more

I really want to make an updated review of Cubby's. I recently moved a couple blocks away and have been going here almost daily for the last 6 months. I don't have a car so it's very convenient for me to walk to.... My main point of updating my review is their meat department. Oh my Lord, it is incredible! I first discovered it by seeing some "today's special" steaks in a cooler .....well guess what? I buy at least a couple steaks a week now. Their ribeyes and New York Strips are absolutely the best steaks I have ever bought. But that's not all! Their bratwurst? Insane. Best bratwurst I have ever store bought. The cheddar brats are FULL of cheddar. They taste amazing. Bacon? They have that too. Anyways, I love everything about Cubby's and their staff. Staff are ways friendly and I have nothing but good things to say about them. read more

Some would consider this a surprising find inside of what appears to be a Gas Station Convenience Store. Yes, it's a shop with a CENEX pump, but what is inside is what sets it apart from other stop and go gas pumps. This location is a mini mart with groceries, and even has a meat counter and deli counter with prepared food by the pound like pasta salads and such. It hosts a number of hot items and a bakery case to boot with cakes and pie by the slices, not just your average stale muffin or cookie. They have a slim but available selection of fresh produce, and frozen and canned grocery items. They also have beer, wine, and hard liquor for sale. Since downtown Omaha does not have any Chain Grocery stores, this fits the need of residents and visitors living in or near the Old Market when they need something quick. There is a fair markup on some items, but I have to say it's not too bad considering the location in the Old Market. read more

A very convenient convenience store in Old Market. It was really nice having this next to our hotel for all the random stuff we ended up needing over our Memorial Day weekend vacation. Cubby's is a little on the pricy side, but not outrageous. There's a deli, groceries, liquor, and your typical convenience store finds. They had coolant for the car (which ended up being crucial on our 100-degree plus visit) and a small stock of sunscreen. It did take two trips to find the sunscreen - we asked a man stocking the beauty aisle if they had any and he pointed us to some expensive full-size options. It turned out he was completely unaware of the travel size options two feet from where he was stocking. My boyfriend noticed it the next day and nabbed a spray sunscreen for about $4. Worth it for our trip to the zoo! There aren't really any other convenience or drug stores in the area that we could find, so I'm happy Cubby's exists for those who find themselves in the neighborhood! read more

Am I really going to review Cubby's? Yeah I guess this is happening. So let's set the stage. It's 11pm, and you need craft beer. Also, maybe corn dogs. Lucky you. Going into Cubby's you might just expect a gas station, because that's what it looks like from the front... and yes, it is a gas station, but it's also much, much more because no other gas station I can remember being in has sold Delirium Tremens and steaks. Since I'm only there intermittently (not being an actual Old Market dweller) I can't comment on the pricing for actual grocery store shopping, but it has things you need. I'm from NJ staying at the Embassy Suites. This was a short walk to pick up some food for the room. I was pleasantly surprised with the fresh food and meat selections. I only have a microwave so no steak for me but I went for the ready to eat and take chicken tenders and was in love with them. So fresh and tasty! I even found Lysol spray on the shelf which doesn't happen often if at all in NJ. They have a great selection of your general grocery needs as well as alcohol. This review was specifically for the deli/hot food section and not the grocery section that I didn't use. Stopped in the evening to grab some dinner after seeing some of the specials online. Got there after 7:30 pm and they were basically out of food. Ordered the baked chicken with pasta and corn, which tasted like it had been sitting out. They have a little bit of everything here -- hot food, cold sandwiches, craft beer, crappy beer, fancy tea/coffee/soda/energy drinks, basic groceries, fresh produce, a totally legit meat counter and gas. All in a prime Old Market location. In lieu of an actual supermarket being located anywhere near downtown, Cubby's, and a similar spot up the street, is about as good as it gets for grocery shopping in the area. Which is all honestly is A-OK with me. Sure, prices are a little higher than say, No Frills, but the fact that you can actually WALK to Cubby's for lunch, groceries or whatever (that is if you live or work downtown) makes it indispensable to the area. read more

Cubby's was my favorite store when I lived in Omaha not long ago. They really had it all. I stopped in when I passed through town yesterday and nothing has changed. Cubbys really is the beary best still. My favorite part about Cubby's is it is open 24/7. It seemed once every other week I would wake up in the middle of the night with a taste for steak. This place sells beef in case you didn't know. A whole lotta beef boys and girls. So, cubby's is where I go to satisfy my late night cravings for some beef in my mouth. 2 ribeyes, a bag of gummy bears and 4 cans of coke to wash it down was my usual order. They also have some really delicious pizza as well. I would say it's a mix between Dominos and papa Johns double cheeseburger pizza. Very tasty. The people that work here are always friendly to me so it really felt like an extension of my own home. All the best Cubby I will see you next time I'm in town. read more

Downtown Omaha is called the Old Market. Do not be fooled by this pseudonym because curiously enough, there ain't a damn place in the area to buy groceries. Cubby's serves a niche based on this lack of grocery access by being either a very large convenience store or very small grocery store, depending on your perspective. I am sure Cubby's is not run by the mafia. How do I know this? Because despite the fact that they have cornered the market on the grocery business downtown, you're not paying convenience store prices for the groceries here. And they could completely and with extreme prejudice violate anyone who chooses to shop here because you literally have to leave downtown to get groceries. For such a small store they have a very large selection of items...from canned goods to freezer items...to wine and beer. Being in the middle of Old Market, they could charge an arm an a leg because there isn't a closer market around in that high rent district. But they don't and their prices are just about the same as a regular supermarket. Other 24/hour stores have higher prices. My hat is off to this store for keeping a very good stock of items on hand at reasonable prices. read more

If you're staying at one of the nearby hotels, Cubby's is insanely convenient just for stocking up on essentials like water, snacks, maybe some fresh fruit if it's past free breakfast time at the Hyatt. It's also great for those of us prone to headaches on those trips where we knew we forgot something and couldn't put our finger on what it was...oh, yeah, I remember. Tylenol. The prices are definitely higher than HyVee, but if you're sans car, it's a lot more convenient. I stumbled in here trying to get cash back not wanting to pay an ATM fee. No go, their computers aren't set up for that. Get with the 21st century! None-the-less, they did have an ATM machine thanks to my relief. The store itself is kind of cutsie. They have a little bit of everything. Have been a loyal customer for years, however, received some atrociously awful service from a man named Larry the other night. He used profanities and screamed and customers. This is an oasis in the Old Market (where you cannot find anything practical). Cubby's has plenty of things that you may need to pick up if you work, live or are just running around in the area (no pet food though!). The deli and hot food station is good and they mix up the selections and keep it interesting for regulars. The produce department has gotten a lot better (I even found blueberries that were on a musicians rider there recently). Having an actual active meat counter in the Old Market is a huge plus, and their frozen food selection is pretty good for those of us working here that need something quick and in and out of the microwave. They have an impressive wine, liquor and beer selection also. The staff is always friendly, and I never know how they keep a positive attitude as they have to deal with quite the variety of people. read more

Stopped in here while running some errands in the market and i have to say its A-Ok with me. They do have some pretty good treats in here and the BBQ is hard to resist , i almost caved but i wouldn't know how to explain the sauce stains on my vegan hubbies dry cleaning :) The employees are quite nice too and i do have to say the prices are a bit high but Cubby's is a very convenient stop in the Old Market. read more

Cubby's has been a staple for me. For things like gum and condoms to made to order grilled cheese sandwiches, this is the only spot to consider downtown. The bad part is, they know that. I unusually go here twice a day during my work week and at least once on my days off. there is one other option downtown and until we get a Hyvee I will continue to give these guys and gals my money. The beer selection is top notch. From IPAs (yum) to BL they have it. Special release bottles? got them too. I am excited to go to one of the wine pairing events near the end of each month. the place gets packed! Special requests for cooked items can be met and served to you with a gracious smile. they all know my name and greet me when I come in. I always thank them by name as well. the only reason for 4 and not 5 stars is the markup on some of the beer is undue. About 25%. With as much as I buy I think they should have a punch card or rewards system. read more
