I stop in here fairly frequently for things such as soda and lotto scratchers...you know, the essentials...the people that work here have always been friendly and there's some surprisingly good eats and treats here, though I disagree with Mike S about the mashed taters here lol...it's yet another convenient stop in the Old Market for the essentials...however, their prices on certain items can be a bit high, even for being in the Old Market...oh and if you come when the bbq is cooking, you won't be able to resist the urge to buy some lol read more

My husband and I always stop at this cubby's especially during the summer when we are walking around down town and dying of thirst, we grab one of the biggest pop cups and fill it with water and only pay a quarter. They have a deli to pick out different things to much on. read more

Cubby's downtown is nice place if you need something any hour. There is always a sheriff during the late hours to keep things in order for the late night drinkers. I like the deli & produce section, and the new beer area is pretty sweet. They have a wide variety of beer/wine/liquor to choose from, and most of it is already cold. I give two stars for the following reason. The Breakfast bagel sandwiches are second to none. The service, prices, environment inside and out, and the overall lack of service make this place no longer a option for me-even for gasoline. read more

My main impression of Cubby's is that it's way better than you'd think from looking at the outside. The hot food is so-so, but they have decent deli and meat counters, and their selection is surprisingly comprehensive. Since Patrick's opened they've brought in a bit of slightly higher end stuff as well. Great selection of premium beers. read more

Absolutely terrible. The highest prices in town, and I absolutely guarantee you 40% of the items scan wrong, and always in their favor. If something is on sale, it's a guarantee it will scan wrong. The place is a rip off and I think I will be using patricks or wohlners, it's worth the trip not to get ripped off. read more

Yelp reviews (or any reviews) should be positive. We seldom hear great things about places we frequent. Its the negative that finds itself at the forefront. I love Cubbys. Its more than just a gas station or corner store. Its community. But today i witnessed something that went against that. A man (black i think) came in almost out of breath and stood by the counter catching his breath. Another man came in shortly after and through the commotion i realized that the black man chased him down and brought him back to pay for something. The black man laughed and said "That was fun I should get a good Samaritan pass". The cashier laughed and they exchanged smiles and laughter. Until a supervisor with the name Travis began accosting him. Telling him that he wouldnt be getting whatever that was and he should leave. The man said to the supervisor that he should be happy that he did what he did. Then a kitchen guy came up behind the blackman and started in on him too. The cashier that had the walk out came over to defend the man but was shut down n told to stay out of it. "I got this under control" said Travis. "You want something for free here and youre not going to get it." he said to the good Samaritan. The man clearly didn't look like he needed something for free. Well dressed and not looking fi a handout.A Good Samaritan pasred. known as a it but & hi thank you. The kitchen emploee said thank you while the supervisor continued barratinlr hig the man and lierally chased him out of store. I can gine how humiliated that man felt. This is the only grocery store that I can find in the area and prices are very fair. The meat counter serves fresh product and the meat staff is very helpful. There is a lot of specialty product and they will order nearly anything for you if requested. The counter staff is usually reliable and there when I need them. I don't know the night people all that well buy Jexa, Bryan, Jeff, Levy, and Josh are more thn willing to help a physically handicapped guy such as myself get around the store. Very expensive! I am not sure where the other reviewers shop, but their prices are insane. I have been there twice and will never go back. Their meat is almost twice as expensive as no-frills or bag-n-save. Even on your basics, they are at least 30% higher. Though they were the only store in downtown for YEARS so that may explain the inflated prices. Now that Patrick's Market has opened just blocks away they may have come down. I used to always stop at Cubby's for beer after work and sometimes a little lunch to take to work, Of course their prices are high, like any convenience mart. The last year or so, there has been this older "gentleman" manning the registers. I get the feeling that he is an owner or manager, that is just "manning' the registers, to save money. The young kids that were formerly there were great, never had any problems. This guy gets pissed, if you give him a twenty dollar bill. I gave him a twenty, and he spreads my change all over the counter, so it took me a few minutes to get it all together to put into my wallet. Thanks a lot, Buddy...He also doesn't like it when you buy lottery tickets. If they guy didn't have subdued anger going for him, he wouldn't have any emotion at all. So I have a message, "Hey, old guy, if you're that unhappy on the register, hire some kid, who would like to have a part-time job and can at least smile once in awhile. If I was rating you, I would give you minus ten stars." read more

It can be a little shady at times, especially at night. It seems like there are homeless hanging out outside a lot. The food is alright, and there's a decent selection. The prices are kind of high, even for a convenience store. read more

I went to Cubby's on Sunday morning and noted that the cashier was absolutely filthy. He was wearing a jacket that looked like it had been used as a mop rag. In a place where food is prepared, this is absolutely unacceptable. read more
