Since then I've had some work done and certainly recommend them. The dentists, assistants and office staff are sympathetic as well as nice. I was lucky really as, if like me, the thought of major dental work makes sweaty and light-headed, the staff here are fantastic and really do put you at ease. I ended up having a bridge/veneer thing done which after several different dentists had told me I'd have no choice than implants (costing £5k plus each and involving surgery) I was pleased when my dentist here offered me the option involving the least amount of pain and expense. Believe it or not, I first discovered Surrenden dental practice via a Groupon offer. It's a completely private surgery but I'm yet to discover what benefits NHS dentists hold - they still charge a fortune and my experiences have always been bad. Anyway, I went along for a full consultation and set of x-rays. Since then I have had one extraction, one root filling and two crowns! Yes, my teeth were in rather a bad way (due to clumsiness not poor hygiene I must add!) but now they look 100 times better - note to self, remember to put hands down first when falling, don't land on your face again (I've done this twice!) My dentist, Mr Ed O'Toole, is caring and professional. He fully explains everything he is going to to and gives a variety of treatment options dependent on budget. Best of all, he manages to do virtually all his treatments without causing me any pain - I know, its a miracle!! If anyone is looking for a dentist in the local area I can't recommend them enough.

No-one likes going to the dentist but I would recommend this one as they are professional and do seem to get straight to the job. So many times I have had someone digging around my mouth for 10 minutes in pointless areas which I have already said are fine. On the 1 bus route if you have no transport and with 2 pubs next door to get a strong shot of whiskey or 10 before entering this is a winner.

For a mere 75 pounds you can get a "consultation for cosmetic treatment including study models". What are study models. Do the NHS have them too? Are they people? Or plaster? This cosmetic dentists surgery is for the more serious tooth lover. They obviously do the bog standard treatments you'd expect from a dentist. But take a look at their website. They obviously have money to burn.

A couple of years ago it was a guy who said the same thing at every appointment while I dribbled in empathy. He retired early. I won't be. Anyway, there's a new crew in town and (hey!) crazy name, crazy guys! I see an Eastern European chap who is extremely competent. Brutal but very competent nevertheless..... They work at NHS rates and treat you like a private patient. My kinda place. At my last visit I got the equivalent of a 10,000 mile service. How ironic that my East European friend was to hand, by the time he'd finished & I'd inspected my gnashers in a mirror, I looked very much like one of his compatriots. Dracula. Post Kill. Oh well.
