This past May, I went to England.
A few days into the trip, we headed to Brighton where, upon arriving at our first cafe and enthusiastically biting into my first toasted panini, I broke off my front tooth. (On a side note, this tooth is actually a fake from my childhood, and, I suppose, since it's been in my mouth for some 26 odd years, having broken off before on beer bottles and coffee cups, it just finally gave up under tomatoes and cheese-filled toast.)
We promptly launched into crisis communications mode. The Emergency Dental Clinic couldn't take me that day so recommended the Dental Health Spa a few blocks away on Queen's Street.
Being that I am from North America, I had no idea what a "Dental Health Spa" was and sort of half-expected to get some kind of face massage with my dental work. To my pleasant satisfaction, the doctors at the Spa are real-live dentists, all very professional and courteous. The Spa part comes from the fact that they also do 'over lunch' whitening treatments and other keep-up-your-smile appointments on top of regular dentistry.
After making an appointment and waiting embarrassed in the lobby, a very good-looking Dr. Peter took me into his office to have a look at my sudden British-esk tooth. I explained that he could just glue the old piece back on, but after looking he said, "I'm just going to rebuild you a new one. The old one isn't going to stick anymore." So for the next 45 minutes Peter delicately rebuilt my smile while I marveled at his blue eyes.
After examining the new tooth - and getting over my 45 minute crush on a British dentist - I expected to pay some hundreds of pounds for the work. However, to my delight, I was charged only £120 (about $200) allowing me to avoid travel insurance claims.
I highly recommend the Dental Health Spa on Queens Street in Brighton - if you happen to need a quick whitening or have weirdly broken off an entire front tooth on a soft sandwich - the facility is clean, bright and welcoming (and the doctors easy on the eyes).
