You sit very close together in a small cave and the dancers are inches away from you. I realize this is not just some romantic dance but a powerful way of communicating strong emotions. The dancers are incredibly talented, emotive, precise, energetic! They playfully interact with the audience, one of the performers taking the hat off my head and improvising a dance with it-- incredible! The level of physical skill required is breathtaking, like the fastest tap dancer you've ever seen you wonder how they can move their feet that fast. This cave located in the Sacromonte area of Granada, known as the gypsy neighborhood, was recommended to us for a flamenco show. We came only for the show however they also have a dinner + show option. The ticket price ~20€ per person, included one drink, alcoholic or non-alcoholic. Soon after we arrived and checked in with the host we were taken to our assigned seats. Our beverage order was then taken and the drinks were quickly brought out to us since they stated we needed to finish the drink before the show started. I must admit this was a bit rushed. The show lasted for ~1 hour and it was good. Those flamenco dancers are impressive, so much emotion in their faces, such intense and fast footwork, it's quite the endurance workout with each dance. There were three female and one male dancers. They each got their turn to do a dance a couple of times around. We were sitting very close to where the dancers were sitting and those lights directed at them were really hot! We were sweating, I can't even imagine how hot they must have felt. Yes, it may be a bit touristy as others mentioned, especially if you're visiting in high season, but who other than tourists would go to a flamenco show? If you're visiting Andalucía, where flamenco originated, I'd definitely recommend going to a flamenco show but especially if you're in Granada since being in a cave adds a bit more drama to the ambiance. read more

What a fantastic place! I was solo and they treated me like family. I booked the combo dinner + show, which I recommended. The menu was a nice selection. I enjoyed a thicker version of gaspacho with small bits of ham and the grilled dorada. Dinner is in a cave with caring staff. No rush too as dinner is served 90 minutes before the show. The show was in the next room/cave and the patrons sit around the small stage. The dancers were very talented, smiling accompanied by a great singer and a skilled guitarist. Irrespective of other place, I could take pictures (no flash). A memorable night! read more

I've been here twice: once in 2005 and again in 2016. As far as I could recall, the show had not changed a bit and it's the best Granada has to offer as far as flamenco if you ask me. For 20 Euro/person (one drink included), you will be entertained for at least a solid hour and will definitely leave feeling as though you got your money's worth. They do ask for a credit card in advance to reserve your seat, which is understandable considering each of the two rooms they separate the crowd off into gets packed. Each room probably seats 50 people and they do at least 3 shows per night. Those poor flamenco dancers must be muy cansado by day's end. They also serve tapas if you arrive early enough. They recommend getting there 15 minutes ahead of time. The hake fish was delicious and probably one of the best tapas I had over the course of a 10 day trip to Spain. Warning: the seats are very, very tiny and crammed right up against the person to your left and to your right, so if you're claustrophobic, this is probably not the place for you. My back also started to get sore into the hour, but my neck probably got the worst of it trying to keep my eyes on the dancers. read more

My advice seems to concur with others - if you come, just come for the show and drink (20 euros). I did not try the food, but honestly, there is so much good food in Granada, that I would probably go to those instead. The major con of this place is that a lot of tour groups come here (we were packed with a literal busload full of Japanese tourists), so can really feel extremely touristy. However, the dancers are very professional and excellent. A little out of the way (we walked, and it was a bit of a trek uphill), but experience was overall good. read more

I was researching if/which Flamenco to attend, and when I saw Michelle Obama came here, I was sold. I mean, if it's good enough for Mobama, it's good enough for me, right?! I set my expectations for a touristy experience, and while it was at least based on the attendees, I absolutely recommend it. One dancer in particular, a younger woman in black and white, was so beautiful and almost sadly expressive my eyes started watering with emotion. We sat a few chairs back from the front, which I thought was perfect for an up-close-and-personal experience: watching the mastery of their feet right in front of you is quite fun. Just mind your own feet: they really pack those chairs in and there's not much wiggle room. The live musicians and singers complete the immersive experience. The ticket includes a drink (sangria, beer, wine, water, or soda). The drink ordering and delivery was an exercise in speed and efficiency with rapid-fire impressiveness. If you don't want to get the dinner package, you can still eat on the terrace, which is probably a better option if you want flexibility; you'll just have to deal with the crowds as one group funnels out and the next group is waiting to enter. We cabbed up, given there's a modest incline and we wanted to make sure we found it and arrived on time. Afterwards we walked back, and it was a lovely stroll despite some very narrow sidewalks and passing cars. Enjoy the illuminated Alhambra as you pass by the Paseo de los Tristes. read more

There are a few of these places but went with this one based on the reviews. They are pretty accurate it's pretty amazing! They tear up those floors! It's awesome. I believe they have different package deals like they can pick you up, dinner, and show for like $60eu. We just showed up on our own and got lucky go squeezed into 1 of the shows.. They do book very quickly it is better to reserve if you can. I paid $20 for the show only. Only reason for not giving it a 5 is the seats are very tightly squeezed in so your pretty much all up on your neighbor or vice versa. read more

We took a bus to the cave or cuevas de Sacromonte, where the gypsies live for a flamenco show in the cueva. It was magnificent! The ride up the hill, the beautiful flower (in pots) adorned houses and great people! Granada is truly a magical place! The show is definitely catering for the tourists, but we got a chance to experience real gypsies dance flamenco and simulate a wedding. They served beverages during the show and brought some of the guests up to dance. It was amazing!!!!! read more

Definitely geared towards tourists, but if FLOTUS came here, then I had to check it out. There are 2 half hour shows, with different performers each set. With the first group, I was completely distracted by two of the dancers who looked bored out of their minds. Yes, the dancing was impressive but having gone to a show where you can truly see the passion in the dancers' faces, this cheapened the set for me. Our second half was much better because the performers actually smiled and looked like they were enjoying themselves. People with stage fright, be warned - they will get members of the audience to dance with them. They certainly got people in the mood though because after we left, even my super conservative mother started dancing on the street! Would've like to see how the Zambra María la Canastera, which is also well known and just a bit up the hill from Cueva, compared, but we did not have enough time in Granada. read more

Not the best place for food unfortunately. We came with a tourist group of about 35 people and they sat us down with tapas and then an "entree" which was still just little bites. Pork slider, pork loin drenched in a cheese sauce, a few pieces of fried calamari and a veggie pork kebab. Kind of a strange combination altogether. Afterwards, they took us into the room next door for the Flamenco show. It lasted about an hour and the dancers were good. Something to see but food to forget. read more

WONDERFUL experience! Guided tour: A bus picked us up at the hotel and we proceeded to head to the Albaicin district where we had a 40 min walking/guided tour or the entire region La Cueva: The live flamenco show was in a cave that was formerly occupied by Arabs during the late 1300's. Very cozy space. The package included one free drink (water, juice available for those who don't drink) and an hour long show featuring a variety of male and female flamenco dancers. The performance will have you watching in awe. Interesting fact: There were pics of famous Spanish bull fighters and politicians that visited the Cueva on the wall. I was surprised to see a huge picture of Michelle Obama during her visit to La Cueva on the back most wall of the cave. Enjoy! read more

This was one of the most amazing things I saw while in Spain. It's not a regular flamenco show because trust me I saw one in Seville and was bored to death as it was slow. I realize md that this is a different kind of flamenco called Zambra and it's done by the gypsies in the Sacramonte caves for tourists as it was in the olden days for the gypsies to make money. I did it through a tour and was driven up into the hills with a large group. Groups go in and out of here every hour. The tour came with One drink which the Waiter's brought in and out all of these people very seamlessly. A bunch of people are crammed into a long cave like room and the dancers dance right in front of you. He singer who and musicians who were reminiscent of the gypsy kings did the background and were amazing. If you're claustrophobic this so probably not a good idea you but it's so worth it to be so close that emotion and passion that all these dancers embrace. Unlike the other flamenco shows that I saw it's not sad and slow. These dancers were truly a master of the aircraft and I enjoyed every minute of it. At the end they pull up some of the audience to dance with them which was so fun. I definitely recommend this is an experience that you won't forget. If I had to do it again I would take a taxi up there myself and spend some more time in the restaurant and maybe see the show twice. read more

This was incredibly disappointing - sort of the epitome of the mass herd tourist trap experience. We knew we had made a mistake when we were literally the only people there not on an Asian tour bus. Which we were ok with until our fellow guests displayed little interest, and failed to clap and a couple of them fell asleep. The dancers were nice people with a good attitude and a passion for dance but not top professionals and they were overworked. Also the wine we were served was literally undrinkable and in a country where you can get a great glass of wine for 3 bucks, there is no reason for that. Where was the Spanish pride? read more
