The food was great and the view of La Alhambra is spectacular during the day or at night.

The view here is unparalleled. The food however was very poor. Nothing on the menu except tapas basically and what we did eat was very bland. I loved this place from past experience but I guess all things change. I unfortunately don't recommend it nor will I return. I'm so sad. read more

If you want the same great views of the Mirador de San Nicolas but less people around you, try walking a block down and stand in line to grab drinks at El Huerto de Juan Ranas. There was a line when we went but it did not take long for us to get seated. Of course, it may be dependent on the time of year and the given day. It provided a stunning background as the sun set. It was also beautiful once it became completely dark because the Alhambra is lighted at night. I ordered a café con leche [i.e. coffee with milk or latte]. I am usually very picky with my coffee and only like specialty coffee shops. Although it was not specialty coffee quality, it was not bad. It is also a full restaurant if you want to grab a meal when the kitchen is open. Amazing spot to view the sunset and the Alhambra. However, unless you are a guest of the hotel or have reserved a table and agreed to spend 50 euros per person, you are completely ignored. The prices are high and the food quality it very poor. We couldn't even get silverware after asking a couple of times. The servers only visit the tables with a "reserved " sign on them and you must flag down someone to help. If you don't care about price, quality and your time, it's the place for you. There are several restaurants around this one and I wish we had not been lured by the ambience! read more

This is the best place to eat with a view in Granada. Come at sunset and start with yummy cocktails and move into dinner. We had the salmon and the beef and the nachos with guacamole and it was all delicious! Of we had dessert to keep the experience going and it was delicious too! read more

The highlight of El Huerto de Juan Ranas is the breathtaking hilltop views of Granada and the Alhambra. This bar is located just footsteps away from Mirador de San Nicolás. The wine at El Huerto de Juan Ranas is more expensive than the other bars in Granada and does not come with free tapas, but you cannot beat this view! During our visit we enjoyed some wine and a plate of jamon Iberico while watching the sunset. We managed to grab a section of seats on the terrace without any obstructions so we were able to take some beautiful pictures during our visit. Had we paid for dinner at the expensive restaurant next door I may rate this spot lower, but it was definitely worthwhile paying for a few glasses of wine to enjoy such a magnificent view. read more

A wonderful dining experience with an amazing view of the Alhambra lit up in all it's magnificence. Great wine offerings at fair prices and a somewhat Moroccan inspired menu. Home baked olive oil bread was delicious. We had two delicious salads, one with Arugula, pomegranate, pears, walnuts and cheese with a refreshing vinaigrette. The other was a tomato salad with ham and foam of potato- very interesting. Main dishes included a Moroccan lamb over couscous with raisins and pine nuts, a chicken pie and a scallop dish with caviar. All were top notch with interesting flavours and textures. You sit an eat in this cozy restaurant with wonderful food, great service and look upon the beauty of the Alhambra right in front of you. It really does not get better than this in dining! So glad we fell in here by mistake because the restaurant across the street was booked. One of top meals in Europe. This review is solely for its location and drinks which are shockingly normally priced considering this place is the hands down best place in Granada to watch sunset, as it is across from the Alhambra. Wine is about 2 to 3 euros a piece and the servers do not rush you or press for you to order more or order food. It's a cute patio with both chairs and tables, and little sofas. read more

Juan Ranas is a relatively overpriced restaurant with one of the most amazing views of the Alhambra. Context: Midday drink and initial plans for lunch Ambiance: 5/5 The view of the Alhambra is absolutely beautiful and should not be missed. The pictures cannot do it justice. If you come around noon or 12:30, they will be open for drinks (but not food). There'll only be a few people there, making it all the better to soak in the views (with or without company). Service: 2/5 Initially took our order then we had to go up and ask for the check. Didn't check in on us once throughout our 30-45 minutes there. Drink: 3/5 Overpriced beer (6 euros for a grande), but you're really paying for the view. Understandable. The menu looked expensive for what it was (16 or 17 euros for patatas bravas), so I'm glad that the kitchen wasn't open when we visited. It ended up saving us quite a bit of money. In short, come for the views but be prepared to shell out a pretty penny for it! You could just get drinks to appreciate the view and move on for food later if you're on a budget, which is what we did. A must see view, though! read more

A beautifully picturesque view--seriously indescribable. Prices were reasonable, considering the view overlooking the Alhambra. The views were spectacular, service & food... ehhh... had better. The prices were super expensive. But that didn't bother us. We were there for the moment and didn't have a budget. The staff were incredibly mean. I saw the waiter rolling his eyes when someone at the next table was asking questions about what to order. Really??? Did you just roll your eyes. We paid 17 euros for a tapa portion. But like I said... we weren't there on a budget. But we were surprised of the small portion. Wine was a bit expensive, but that's normal for the location. There wasn't any place to lock in a tripod for pictures. Yes... I come bearing DSLR and tripod. but seriously gorgeous location. The 2 star is because of the mean staff. And the fact it took us an hour to get our bill after asking 20 times. We weren't alone on that. Another table was pretty upset and about to walk out. By Far- the best dining experience I had in all of Spain during the two weeks I was there and I was fortunate to dine here twice while I was in Granada. This place is breathtaking. Tucked on top of the little village of Albaicin, a trip to this little town is a must while visiting Granada. The restaurant itself looks more like a large spanish house. As you enter the back patio that over looks the glorious Alhambra and snow capped Sierra Nevadas in the distance, you are mezmorized by the hanging patio that takes in this view. I had the pleasure of dining inside down below the outdoor seating in a private room with only one other table. The room also had a terrace that displayed the same incredible view from the patio seating. The food was top notch. Signature dishes like cuttlefish ( Fish made into Fettucini like noodles? A-Mazing!), black tomato salad and gazpacho. All were beyond perfect. Even the salad topped with tuna was delicous. The menu is presented in both Spanish and English and the staff was so generous and welcoming. The wine list was extensive and it was a bonus to see their wine cellar stocked with endless bottles of wine. If you are a lover of inventive food and can appreciate a beautiful view, you must go here. It is pricy but worth it for the entire package. If you find that it's not in your budget, atleast check out Albaicin while in Granada- the views, history and culture are truely a great experience. read more

The food is really good and authentic. Being an Arab, I can say that dishes here are authentic Moroccan meals, with the touch of sweet and sour of the Moroccan cuisine. The waiters are always in a hurry and it might take you time to order but that's because it's one girl serving over 10 tables. The portions are big and better to share with friends. The view is superb and probably the best place to take clear pictures of Alhambra from. Prices are way reasonable and there is a variety of dishes between meat, fish, chicken, pork and snacks. read more

This by far was my favorite spot in Granada. You get the best view of the Alahmbra and the entire city from this spot. For a view like that, this place is shockingly affordable. We visited this place both days we were in Granada. We tried the cafe con leche and the sangrias and they were both very good. The sangrias here were for €5.5, compared to €2 sangrias you get in the city center, but clearly it was worth it. Not just for the view but the quality of wine used was so much better. We also tried their cod fritters which were just perfect. The service is damn good and no one pushes you to finish up quick, despite a good number of people waiting to get in. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the city. I probably may not go back to Alahmbra the next time I'm in Granada, but I'm definitely not missing this spot! read more

You can't get any better really. We ordered their salmon and grilled veggies to share. It was exquisite. We also had wine and tiramisu. The environment was lovely and the sunset over the Alhambra divine. We walked uphill through the market streets and it was good exercise. Wonderful restaurant! We came with a group and had the basement three rooms and the service was phenomenal. Polite staff never let our wine or water glasses go empty. We had fresh silverware and plates for every course. We started with a bacalao mousse appetizer with bread service, then a fresh green salad with mango avocado and goji berries, couscous with sautéed veggies and almonds, a Bacalao covered in a tomato sauce with roasted potatoes, pork in a brown sauce with sautéed mushrooms and green peppers, finished with a caramel custard that made you think of heaven.
