A bottle of delicious red wine and the most spectacular view of the Alhambra.
    Adam K.

A wonderful dining experience with an amazing view of the Alhambra lit up in all it's magnificence. Great wine offerings at fair prices and a somewhat Moroccan inspired menu. Home baked olive oil bread was delicious. We had two delicious salads, one with Arugula, pomegranate, pears, walnuts and cheese with a refreshing vinaigrette. The other was a tomato salad with ham and foam of potato- very interesting. Main dishes included a Moroccan lamb over couscous with raisins and pine nuts, a chicken pie and a scallop dish with caviar. All were top notch with interesting flavours and textures. You sit an eat in this cozy restaurant with wonderful food, great service and look upon the beauty of the Alhambra right in front of you. It really does not get better than this in dining! So glad we fell in here by mistake because the restaurant across the street was booked. One of top meals in Europe. Btw, a shout out to our waitress (spoke perfect English from her few years living in Pittsburgh) who was just so wonderful.

    Can't beat this view!

This review is solely for its location and drinks which are shockingly normally priced considering this place is the hands down best place in Granada to watch sunset, as it is across from the Alhambra. Wine is about 2 to 3 euros a piece and the servers do not rush you or press for you to order more or order food. It's a cute patio with both chairs and tables, and little sofas.

Exquisite food! Gorgeous view of Alhambra. Excellent service! If you are looking for a romantic evening to watch the sunset and enjoy the view of Alhambra this is the perfect place! Definitely come back to this restaurant.

The amazing view from Juan Ranas

Juan Ranas is a relatively overpriced restaurant with one of the most amazing views of the Alhambra. Context: Midday drink and initial plans for lunch Ambiance: 5/5 The view of the Alhambra is absolutely beautiful and should not be missed. The pictures cannot do it justice. If you come around noon or 12:30, they will be open for drinks (but not food). There'll only be a few people there, making it all the better to soak in the views (with or without company). Service: 2/5 Initially took our order then we had to go up and ask for the check. Didn't check in on us once throughout our 30-45 minutes there. Drink: 3/5 Overpriced beer (6 euros for a grande), but you're really paying for the view. Understandable. The menu looked expensive for what it was (16 or 17 euros for patatas bravas), so I'm glad that the kitchen wasn't open when we visited. It ended up saving us quite a bit of money. In short, come for the views but be prepared to shell out a pretty penny for it! You could just get drinks to appreciate the view and move on for food later if you're on a budget, which is what we did. A must see view, though!

This review is only for drinks, we haven't had their food. Their coffee was among the best I've had in Spain, and their mint tea was absolutely delicious. Most importantly, the view of La Alhambra during the sunset is absolutely unbeatable.

    Sunset!

Of course the view is free just a little way up the road, but get away from hoi polli by stopping here. Here, you can sit, be served, enjoy the sunset, and only pay ten euros. Treat yourself!

Best place to have a drink and see the sunset on the Alhambra. Next to Saint-Nicolas mirador. They have food + drinks. Prices are ok. Friendly service. Very popular place. No wifi. 4/5 visited in October 2016

Best part about this place is the view around sunset. It has the best view to look at Alhambra and Granada as a whole. Drinks are okay. I had the Bloody Mary. Wasn't bad over all. Over all I had good time.

    What a view!

Food was good, service was..... in line with Spanish culture. Relaxed. That's the best way I can say it. But what really earns this place its stars is the incredible view. Just wow. You get a perfect view of the Alhambra. Go at sunset. It's worth it.

We really wanted a lunch with a view and this place opened up shortly after we started looking around. It's more pricey than we would have liked, but the food was delicious. We got the chicken dish and the patatas bravas and split them. Both we delicious. Often places like this are overpriced and have mediocre food and get away with it because of their location. This food did not disappoint and we had a fantastic view.

Sangria and red wine while watching the sunset over the Alhambra. The wine was actually quite yummy.

Didn't actually eat here but stepped inside quickly to take some nice photos of the Alhambra since San Nicolas square was very crowded.

Upon arrival, I told the waiter I waiting for my husband and children and wasn't even asking to be seated without them, yet he acted as though I was inconveniencing him, by asking when they would arrive and then sarcastically pointing out that it had been "more than a minute" a few minutes later. (This was walk in, not a reservation we were late for). Once we were seated, he took his sweet time to come our table, and then, when he saw my 6-year-old had a small sandwich from elsewhere, let out an exaggerated sigh, and told us we couldn't stay. We explained that he's a young child and there was nothing on the menu he would eat, but the waiter was dismissive and inflexible, so we left (politely, not wanting a confrontation). I can't know what was in his mind, but as a South Asian family, the hostility and difference in treatment made the experience feel racist. We were polite throughout and were made to feel completely unwelcome.

Though a restaurant can't rely on views to thrive. We found the architecture of the restaurant is also very special. A Buddha statue greets you at the front. You can have the garden seating or balcony seatings that get the glimpse of Alhambra. We chose the latter with following dishes: Arroz Pulpo, and Bacalao a La Plancha. The pan seared cod was tender and fresh coupled w/ fried pumpkins and beans. To add the flavor, three thin slices of pork belly (fat) were placed on top of the cod. The octopus risotto and octopus in black rice were something interesting. Personally I think the black rice octopus was taster than the risotto, which was too rich in butter and cream. The sangria was not that impressive, maybe the red was too dry and not enough of fruits. If you do go there, please remember to spread some mosquitoes repellent. Because while you dine, they also have their meals.
