I took my tire to Used Car World and in less than 10 minutes, I was on my way with my tire repaired. The second time, there was an object in the middle of the tread and not having learned my lesson, I went to the large chain again. This time the hole was too large but they would be happy to sell me two new tires...I took that tire to Used Tire World as well and again, I was on my way in 10 minutes or so. Now anytime I have a flat, a small leak, or even a question about my tires, I take it to Used Tire World. And they don't do repairs if it might be a safety hazard. Once I took a tire with a slow leak to them and they showed me how low my tread had become. They recommended I go and get new tires. This time recommending new tires was justified! The large chains no longer plug tires but that means tires that are repairable cannot be repaired. I've heard all the talk saying a plug is a temporary fix and a patch (used by most large chains including the one I visited) is the best way to get a long term repair. But it is limited in size and placement and sometimes you don't want, or can't afford, to have to buy new tires. And at 60 years old, I have not have a plug fail (knock on wood!). I trust Used Tire World to tell me if a plug would be a hazard to my safety and they are my go to-tire repair business!

They greeted us when we walked in and even though it took awhile to speak with someone, they thanked us for our patience and told us someone would be with us momentarily. Those types of things are very important. After speaking with someone about an issue I had with another tire store, they even apologized for my negative experience. I also noticed, the store was well kept, bright, and inviting. Just based on my customer service experience alone, I would definitely recommend Discount Tire.

It was shockingly expensive to replace two headlight bulbs on my Rav4. They charged me $194.31 to replace two halogen bulbs. It took them 5 minutes to do this. I called Toyota the next day and they would charge $134.27 for the same thing, before my discount. So, I called Performance Tire back and asked them if they made a mistake. Nope! So, they are higher than Toyota and would not match them. They explained that the shop rate was .75 hours for the installation which was $109.00. Nothing they can do about this. Oh, and I went there because of Costco recommendation.

My car began to malfunction, and trusting them, I brought it in. Before I even reached the counter, I overheard someone from the garage scream, "Here comes an opportunity." Red Flag. Once the diagnostic was done, I was told repairs would cost upwards of $10,000. I'm no mechanic, but I know manipulation when I see it. I asked for a print off of the required repairs and was told that "they don't do that". Feeling uneasy, I sought a second opinion. In the end, the repairs cost me $200. All I needed was a couple of hoses, and some spark plugs. It was crystal clear that Pep Boys was trying to take advantage of me. What's worse, I overheard a manager berating an employee for not "getting more" out of a customer. They didn't think I heard, but I did. On top of that, I was told by someone else that while they visited the shop they overheard a district manager discussing with their team how desperately they need to repair their customer relationships because so many people are coming forward about being swindled too. I'm sharing this to warn anyone considering Pep Boys, do not trust them. There are honest auto repair professionals out there. The people at Pep Boys, however are nothing but crooks. They do brakes and oil changes. That's it. They aren't mechanics. I learned from a former employee of theirs that the reason they charge so much for repairs that because they outsource the work to actual mechanics, then overcharge so they can get their profit. Let my experience be your cautionary tale. Don't trust them.

As I walked to the front of my car, I got down on one knee to ensure they had replaced all of my trim clips on my splash guard.( I did this because in time past they were not all replaced) As I bent over, I noticed oil pouring out from around my splash guard. I jumped up and ran to cut the car off. One of the techs looked over and asked, whats wrong? I told him my car is pouring oil out. Andrew was inside the building looking out, so I went in and explained to him what the problem was. At this time one of the techs got in the car and was going to start it to take it back in the shop, and the other tech yells at him. "Dont start that car up". Andrew went outside and had a dicussion with them and they pushed in back into the shop. Later he, andrew, came to me very apologetic and professional saying the oil filter was not tighten properly. I was frustrated, and dissapointed in what had just happened. I simply said, this could've been very bad if I had not looked under my car and drove off. He agreed and still apologetic. I told him its not your fault and I know you want things here done right. I hope this will serve to them as a learning tool to pay attention to detail. I will continue to take my car there because I trust them, however, I will contine to be very observant of what they are doing and check to see that job is done correctly. So as soon as we got off work we went to the place she bought her battery to get a diagnostic reading which stated "bad charging system". Luckily, we were next door to Tire Discounters so we rushed over to see if they could replace her alternator that night because she lives almost an hour from this area and didn't feel confident she'd make it home. We walk in with a new alternator and ask if they can replace it. One guy said they could replace it but it wouldnt be tonight since it was about 5:15 and they close at 6pm. We understood but felt so defeated. I asked if they thought she'd make it to Scottsboro with a bad alternator and one guy said not likely. the other guy, Jacob, said he would go check her output to see what the reading was to help gauge whether or not she should attempt the long commute. once Jacob got the reading he began looking for her alternator to see how hard it would be to get to. After he assessed everything he said he wanted to go ask the other guy a question real quick so we followed him inside. After Jacob spoke to the other guy, he came to the counter and said he was going to put the new one on and said it will be done around 6pm. Jacob went above and beyond to make sure my friend made it back home that night. He was kind, courteous, and fast. Jacob didn't have to do what he did, especially being as close to closing time as it was, but he took great care of us! GO SEE JACOB!
