#1 - It would seem they need to break out these reviews between the Parkway store and the University store since almost ALL of the bad reviews are for the University drive store. I have used the Parkway store for several things not just brakes for about 4 years now and the service and price have always been exceptional. Once the job was going to take several hours and when I said I would get an Uber home, the manager put me in his car and drove me home. I should have read the reviews. I went in needing rear brakes. I didn't want to put them on myself and being lazy, I thought I would take the easy way out. Wrongly decision. They took my car in and said it would be about thirty minutes. A few minutes later they can back with a string of issues that I know did not exist to include missing lug nuts. I had all lug nuts on my car. The quote for new brakes was $100 before I came in. After the inspection it was $958. I politely asked for them to put my car back together and I would do it myself. That being said, three people came in after me. All were given inspections that resulted in expensive and exorbitant repairs. That being said, I'm not a rocket scientist but I'm no dummy either. ABSOLUTELY THE WORST experience I have ever had at ANY auto shop-EVER. tech had no clue what he was doing. truck was not ready on time. asked repeatedly for up front pricing & was not given any. called me several hours after dropping off to ask for a socket to get wheels off (my wheels do not require a special socket). the worst part is the price was WAY TO HIGH. almost double what it should have been. rude employees & a"manager" who doesn't care one bit about happy customers or being honest. THEY TOTALED MY TRUCK!!! Long story short, I just brought brand new tires and drive about 5 miles to Budget Brakes to get an alignment. I walked across the street while the alignment was supposed to be done. I get a call about 20 mins later saying that they took my truck out for a test drive, and the technician got ran off the road and my truck was totaled! I wouldn't have left this review because I understand things happen, but how does a business total someones truck, and not offer them any type of compensation for there out of pocket expenses. This place is a nightmare, and I can assure you this isn't the 'people only post on Yelp if they have a bad experience' thing, either, this place is dishonest, shady, and basically takes advantage of anyone who comes in, to the point where, I have to ask, where is the 'budget' in Budget Brakes? Here's my story: in Spring 2015 I went in because my car shook when I stepped on the brakes (this was my first car, a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire, and I'd neglected the brakes for two years because I knew 0 about vehicle maintenance). I brought my car in, thinking it would be a simple fix, and then they said that I needed my brakes as a whole replaced (i.e. calipers, rotors, brakes, brake pads, etc.) on both the front and back end, saying it'd be $450 for the back and $378 for the front, saying that they couldn't in good faith let me leave on the brakes I was on. I only had money for the back brakes (which they said were the worse off of the bunch, and that I'd be able to get by on them for a week or so, but that I'd have to get the front brakes replaced ASAP). I took my car to NTB at the suggestion of someone at work, and they told me that not HALF of what Budget Brakes told me needed to be replaced actually did need replacement. I got my front brakes fixed there for about $70. I was livid. Now, it's two years later, and I moved to an apartment that's on a steep hill, so I need my parking brake when I park. BB didn't reconnect my parking brake, which is a $150 fix at NTB because the wheels need to be removed in order to fix it. So I took my car to BB to have them fix what they'd messed up, and they said they'd do it for free. Well, in reconnecting my parking brake, they put my right rear wheel on wrong, to where the wheel kept notching closer and closer to the car body, causing heat spots in the brake and making it to where the car had to fight the wheel because it was so tight against the body of the car. I took it to NTB when I noticed my right rear brake squeaked when I stopped; they took me out to my car which was on a lift, and spun my right left tire, which kept going and going, and the mechanic said, 'It's not supposed to do that; you should get four or five rotations at most.', then they tried the right rear tire: the mechanic couldn't turn the tire without putting his all into it. Every time I'd been stopping, my car had been fighting this locked up wheel. Angry, I called BB and demanded they fix it. I went in and they 'fixed' it for free, but all they did was remove the wheel, remove a piece of debris they'd left on the wheel that was causing the wheel to lock up, and then slapped the wheel back on, without checking my wheel alignment or replacing the brake, which NTB said was damaged due to the heat spots produced by stopping. Now my right rear brake is squeaking again when I stop, and I know it's almost certainly because of this messed up brake, and I'll probably have to call BB again to replace my back right brake, and I also have a gut feeling they'll screw this up, too, and I'll just keep going back so they can fix their screw ups. And that's not all: after all this trouble, I thought about complaining to the Better Business Bureau, but guess what, they aren't accredited with the BBB. And I can see why. These people take advantage of people who can't afford car repairs, people who don't know much about how vehicles work, and come up with BS so they can charge people an arm and a leg to sub-par quality work. While waiting, I've seen men smoking out in the garage around engine oil and fumes (not that engine grease is flammable, right?). I also spoke with the manager of NTB and learned that the head mechanic here is a reject employee from NTB: the guy said, 'Yeah, I know how to fix cars!', and then he messed up three consecutive jobs before he was fired. So if you come here, remember: these guys couldn't even cut it at NTB, so why would you trust them with a 2,000 lb. machine that could break down and harm you or others? This is completely ridiculous, 0 stars for dishonesty, shoddy work, and appalling workplace practice and ethics. TL;DR: This place will take advantage of you, charge you for things you don't need, and screw you over repetitively. 'Satisfaction Guarantee' doesn't mean jack if you have to keep coming back to fix a mistake they made during the previous time you went there. Go to NTB, or ANYWHERE ELSE for all I care, but just don't come here, you'll get screwed. read more

Took my car in because brakes were making a noise. Couple In the lobby said they were in for the 3rd time , and that should have been a clue. All I asked was To look at my brakes and before I knew it according to them I needed front and back brakes, because they were worn out and an axle , coming to over 600. I took it to another shop for a second opinion. The brakes were not worn out at all , one back break had an issue causing the noise and was fixed in less time then it took this crappy business to try to scam me. Oh , and the axle was fine. .
