The following is my honest review of the Culinary King Indian Restaurant, in North Hobart, about which I can attest you will find a kind family making delicious food; a family who truly care about your experience as their customer; their guest.
I eat out, often. My expectations are high. I have eaten from several Indian restaurants in Hobart, many times over.
Amongst the crowd, Culinary King serves meals that are better than most, and what makes them better is their "homeliness". The food is not perfect, nor is it the very best one can find, however it is decent and tastes good. The portions are plenty and the service is efficient, honest, and warm.
My favourite dish thus far is the Lamb Biryani. Their Mango Lassi is the best I have had, without any exaggeration. Not too sweet, quenching, and rich.
The overall experience at Culinary King is around a 3.5 out of five stars. I rounded my score to 4 stars rather than to 3 stars, particularly because of the outstanding homemade Mango Lassi.
My recommendation to you is to try it, and when you do, ask for the owner's personal recommendation for a genuine Indian meal, and just go with it. Tell them that you would like to experience what it is to eat out in India; that you want the "real deal". read more
