It was gorgeous! The librarian looked like Judy Blume and was helpful when I asked for a place to study. I sat by the windows which overlooked a lake and got to people watch while charging my phone and laptop. Well lit and warm, I was able to finish some essays easily. Plenty of book selections that I briefly took a look at. Substantial areas for children and teens to spend time reading and hanging out. Computer lab looked incredible and very private so I image if you're trying to get some work done you'll be able to focus in there. The bathrooms were super clean like probably the cleanest I've seen for a public place. They have museum passes here which I love to see. Free Covid rapid tests are available too. Benches outside which would be great in the spring and summer to have lunch and hang out. So sad I don't live around here but I would totally take advantage of all their services if I did!

First things first: the Millville Public Library is a small hometown library. As such, it will…read morenever have the resources of larger libraries. It is, however, part of CLUES, which is the countywide library system. That means the resources available here are those available throughout the county. The problem with the library is that despite its small resources and limited space, the library does not function well. Librarians are not concerned with missing books. Reserving books means nothing. Oh, they may pull the book from the shelf, but they do not e-mail nor do they they telephone to inform one the book is now available. And it takes six months for them to receive a new book and get it available to the public. Those are all things that could easily be improved to make the library an enjoyable experience. Until those things are corrected, the library will continue to receive poor remarks from me.

You can get access to a bigger selection of ebooks if you sign up your library card with the libby app. For those that are here for the summer only and wondering how to get a card, you can bring in a copy of your tax record or I believe a utility bill to apply for a card. This really is a nice library. On the second floor there is a deck overlooking the wetlands and bay which would be a great spot to read and enjoy a cup of coffee. The sea isle city historical museum is also located within the library. Now, the main thing that gets this library 5 stars is the kid's programming. We came here all summer and the amount of programs they have for kids is awesome. The library in my hometown still refuses to do any in person indoor kids programming because of Covid and never brought back out the kid toys. My daughter is only 3 so she has never been able to enjoy our local library (Haverford Township) for basically her entire life. So, the SIC library has been a breath of fresh air this summer. The children's librarian who does story time is great along with all the other the library workers. Thank you to those who run this library for providing great educational activities! It houses bathrooms, A/C, Wi-Fi, a large selection of reading materials, and several seating areas including four comfy armchairs. Best of all, they have a huge selection of DVDs that spans multiple shelves and ranges from older films to ones as recent as last year. There's also a separate shelf for newly released movies that came out this year. Fortunately, we were able to get library cards simply by giving the librarian our IDs and an email confirmation of the place we were staying at. I guess that makes sense when most of your summer clientele are tourists. We come to Cape May once a year, so we'll be hitting this library up all the time.

If you are a Gloucester County resident and have a library card at one of the many participating libaries, you can check out books, movies and CDs here. You can also request them online to be delivered to your own library, but I like to stop in and browse sometimes for the fun of it. Sometimes you don't really know what you want until you see it. The selection here is large and pretty good as well. Things I especially like: the separately designated children's section for early readers, the self-check-out, lots of activities for the kids (see their calendar), the well-organized DVD selections for both children and adults, the abundance of easy chairs, benches etc. But best of all, they are located between both the Amish Market and Grasso Girls Farm Market. If you drive down on a Saturday morning in the summer, you are set!
