Sea Isle City Public Library doesn't offer a seasonal membership, and their annual one is too expensive. Enter the Schiavo, only $25 for an individual and $40 for a family for a YEAR. It's a very small place, but what do you need at the shore? Just a friendly neighborhood place to get some books and use the internet. I mostly got the membership to pick up some books and movies for my kid, and I love the little table and coloring spot for her to play with while we're there. Just a little something extra to do on a rainy day. The only downsides would be that it is closed both Sundays AND Mondays (Monday is the witching day at the shore, apparently) and they charge too much for some things. I had to fax a 7 page contract once, and at $1 a page I found a $7 fax to be pretty ridiculous, especially for a member. Also DVD rentals are $1 for 3 days, and the selection is pretty slim. If you're going to pay $1 for a DVD, you might as well go to Redbox (Ocean City or Avalon) where you'll at least get all the latest titles. Still, this place is worth the membership fee for sure. They also offer a killer book sale at the beginning of the season where books are as cheap as $0.25!

So I plunk down $1.50 in the meter, go inside, and have to leave because my laptop isn't charged. Really, charging for parking? No plug-ins? Unreal.

It's sort of a Swiss Army Knife thing going on with the building housing a common lobby area with wireless internet, the Aquatic & Fitness Center, Arts Center, Museum, Library, Senior Center and a Café. Even without a book sale going on this library has a nice size to it and really offers a broad scope of material. Of course with not being a resident it's a no-go on borrowing but everything is still very bright, open and airy. Back to the book sale. It's a complete zoo where it seems like the whole town shows and up I can see why because they have tons of books, DVD's and yes even VHS's for sale at very reasonable prices starting at a quarter for a book. I know that most people on vacation wouldn't dream of hanging out in a library but if you get a questionable weather day this one is top notch and is great place to spend some time.

There is an ample computer station for children, with 7 computers, available, some of which are touch screen. They have two story times on Friday, one for 2-3 year olds from 10:00-10:30AM and one for 4-6 year olds from 11:00-11:30AM. It's nice that they have the option and separate time for older kids, as that is not common in libraries and most gear their storytimes toward younger toddlers and babies. In addition, they have book clubs for adults and older children, as well as a craft time available for children in the summers on Mondays, (registration required). In the kids area they have toys set up for children, which is a decent but not great selection. Parking is free, but if you do choose to go at a story time plan early to circle for parking, as it can take 10 minutes or so to find a spot. The staff wasn't overly friendly, at least not in our experience. The computer area was a little congested, and they may want to suggest a maximum time per child on each computer. My only other suggestion would be that they take care of the restrooms, as several were filthy.

This library is on the small and cozy side, but it's a great place to hide away on a hot summer…read moreday. It houses bathrooms, A/C, Wi-Fi, a large selection of reading materials, and several seating areas including four comfy armchairs. Best of all, they have a huge selection of DVDs that spans multiple shelves and ranges from older films to ones as recent as last year. There's also a separate shelf for newly released movies that came out this year. Fortunately, we were able to get library cards simply by giving the librarian our IDs and an email confirmation of the place we were staying at. I guess that makes sense when most of your summer clientele are tourists. We come to Cape May once a year, so we'll be hitting this library up all the time.

Which means you can rent from any library in Delaware. Like other progressive libraries, they have a small but very nice collection of books on CD, MP3 books, DVDs, as well as the typical periodicals and hardcover books. What came as a surprise to me is that the library also offers some kind of cool services to library card members; you can print any document to the library's printer and they will hold it for 72 hours. (small fee). You can also fax to and from the library if you need to. You also can download and read books on your ipads via the Internet, as well as reserve books from other libraries to be delivered to the Rehoboth Library using their online website. For a small town this library is simply amazing! Thanks to all those that make this library special!

I am signed up for more upcoming craft classes. They have great online resources and a good selection of books and magazines in the library. The staff is friendly, and they even provide free Oceans of Possibilities tote bags for carrying home your books. A great modern facility that even has a garden with tables where you can relax and read your books!
