I am buying my first house and when searching for a home inspector, I couldnt get anyone to call me back or even return an email. Imagine my surprise when Michael answered the phone on the second ring! GBC has a flat fee for inspections (based on square footage) and he had time in his schedule for the inspection within my short time frame. I was impressed with the customer service I received from the beginning. All of my paperwork was provided through email and I had appointment reminders sent to me up to the day he arrived. When I met him on site the day of the inspection, he walked me through everything he found. As a first time home buyer, his willingness to help and answer my questions was a breath of fresh air. I received my inspection in less than 24 hours. The report was 12 pages and had pictures of everything he found, clear notes, his suggestions and it provided a complete analysis of the home. There was a vague allusion to some storm damage from last year's hurricane that never made it here (even though they hadn't inspected anything.) I never got a quote and told them I wasn't interested, then received excuses instead of what I needed and warnings about how hard it is to call my insurance company and file a claim. Without knowing anything about the job a number of $14,000 or so was tossed out after informing them we were not interested. Another company (Mancilla Roofing) did a thorough inspection, climbed up on the roof and listed things they needed to do specifically, gave us materials samples to mull over, and quoted $9,000 for the entire job to include replacing all the roof vents and features, and even running a magnet over the property to find any nails that may have escaped their work area. These guys seem to be locking themselves into potential customers through the insurance company immediately to pretty much name their price and prevent anyone else from competing with them. I didn't get the feeling that any of this was on the level, but I am guessing that if they can overcharge insurance companies enough this way their actual roofing work should be done pretty well and they wouldn't have to cut corners. The other reviewers here who don't seem to understand how their insurance works all gave them 5 stars after all.

Looking amazing, duly upgraded and better than the bad quality stuff I had before. No kidding: The owner and his crew are friendly but they don't play at work, all done professionally, quickly. They take care of the whole process, guiding you through the insurance claim and all. THANK YOU guys. Amazing job! I hope I don't have to replace my roof in a while, this thing looks great and does what it needs to do. But if I do, I know who to call next time!!!
