Went here years ago and it was lovely and had a splash area etc, it's at the titans stadium so lots of parking, apparently now it's shut down and bums live there, water is gone and there is nothing for kids. Avoid at all costs. Maybe when they finish the new stadium they will fix it up? Who knows read more

This is a very small city park, but I enjoy it a lot. If you're walking around downtown but want a break from all the noisy tourists, just walk across the pedestrian bridge and there you are, right there in the park. There's a nifty little elevator you can use to get from the bridge to the park too. It's well-lit but a bit dirty/smelly. But it looks cool! They also have outdoor concerts here occasionally. Usually just local bands--the big names are at Bridgestone Arena and the Ryman--but the smaller name bands are often better anyway! No seating, so bring a blanket. There's also a little picnic area right by the box office under the bridge. This is no fancy park with tons of nature, but it isn't supposed to be. It's a great balance between a park and urban life. Once you're ready to get back into the city, just walk back across the bridge and you're downtown again! I love the view of the Nashville skyline from this park too. 100% recommend. read more

This park was okay, the area to walk and see the river was cool. There are a few things/ structures like the climbing rock wall that are unique to the park. Lots of open space. It kind of feels like an underutilized area. But I also understand the allure of an open space to relax a little. I know it depends on the kid, but I don't feel like this park would keep them entertained for much time. It was not busy at all, we maybe saw 2 people while we were walking around mid day. There is a cool amphitheater area that might be fun for an event or something like that. Maybe give it a try if you're nearby, but don't travel here just for the park because it's probably not worth it. read more

Great spot eat lunch, take a break from your phone and just have some socially distant quiet time. There are a few art installations, informational nature signs and historical markers scattered around the park. This park is walking distant to downtown Nashville and Nissan Stadium. BONUS!, you can take the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge back and forth from DT and back to the stadium! Have fun! read more

The scenery was beautiful, but is definitely in the city. I was there on a Saturday, there was a lot of partying. You can walk to this park from downtown, so it's definitely worth the short walk. Beautiful dog park across the river. Definitely a good way to kill some time and catch some views if you are in the downtown area. However, if you have more time I would recommend spending more time exploring a more nature park spot outside of the city. read more

We headed over for a night out and walked through the park a little before heading up to the pedestrian bridge. The view of the city lights and the park is pretty. Founded in 2012, at 12.94 acres, this park has a spray park, an amphitheater, a playground, public restrooms, and picnic shelters. This park is an adorable innovative space, with a trail designed to attract butterflies, a kids' rope obstacle course, and a kids' rock climbing wall. It sits across from Riverfront Park, and hugs the opposite side of the river. There are great different water/river themed accents all around the park, including cloud and constellation patterns. The park has since became home to events such as the annual Jazz on the Cumberland, the Mayor's Field Day, and the annual Ragin' Cajun Crawfish Boil. It has great views of the skyline, and is one of the most innovative parks we have. read more

This place is great. Although I imagine parking would be tough on a game day, on the Monday when we came, there was plenty of free parking close by. The park sits underneath the pedestrian bridge so it is a great combined activity. There are unique photo opportunities and the park a bridge, so nice grounds and of course a playground. There are these turf lined rolling hills that my kids loved playing on. There is also a large slide with multiple lanes that they liked to race down. This is a great space in urban Nashville! read more

A good place to start and end your trip to the downtown Broadway area. Parking was a little sketchy although we didn't know the area very well. The park and accompanying pedestrian bridge offer some excellent photo ops of downtown and the river area. read more

But seeing as I don't yet have kids and have no desire to have Chris Hansen show up on my front doorstep, you'll understand if I leave the splish, splashing to the parents and kiddos and concentrate on looking at Cumberland Park as a venue and not a playground. Thanks for your kindness. Cumberland Park as a venue makes a lot of sense. The location is tops and the topography is really interesting. Located in the no man's land of LP Field/Nissan Stadium, the park is trapped between the touristy nature of Downtown and the it-actually-has-a-name-because-its-a-neighborhood vibe of Edgefield. As Nashville grows, I won't be surprised to see this small enclave grow as well. Who knows. It might even get its own proper name. But all of that's to say, the location is key. The riverfront is right here, the bridge is just over there and the Bridge Building is on property. Before Ascend Amphitheater opened up, Cumberland Park was the defacto free amphitheater for all your live music needs. It's a locals park that allows enjoyment of the tourist perks of the city. This is, largely, accomplished by the interesting topography. Cumberland Park boasts hills, dales and trails that allow for some expert Nashvilling to take place. The hillside peak and band structure affords an eagle eye view of whomever is playing at the park, whoever's playing across the river and whoever's playing at Ascend (until the Trump wall is erected to block out the freeloaders; USA! USA!). The lower levels of the park are surprisingly long. The dales involve water, kids and future registries for non-parents. But then there are the trails. Sidling up from the parking lot (ahh, Lot R; the locals best friend) and curving around from the start of the bridge, Cumberland Park offers a grassy view of the river as well as a hidden respite to the goings on of the hillside. Follow the concrete-brick road to find out more. Given its location, it's so odd that more people don't know Cumberland Park exists. As much as the only child in me doesn't want to share, if you call yourself an urbanite, you really owe it to yourself and the city to spend some quality time at the park. This park, located on the East Bank of the Cumberland River just South of the Titans Stadium and South of the Shelby Street Bridge, is a much needed addition to the City of Nashville. We went to the opening this weekend and were complete amazed at all the fun amenities. The view of the city is spectacular! You can walk over the river on catwalks and down to the river on the docks (where you can get your feet wet). You can take the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge over the river into downtown Nashville. So I had a couple of friends who were driving cross country on a road trip and were going to only have two hours in Nashville on a Sunday afternoon. What the heck was I going to do?! So I ordered sandwiches from Mitchell's Deli and texted them directions to Lot R at the Titans Stadium. Lot R is right next to the river, right next to the foot bridge and right next to Cumberland Park. It was perfect! They got off the highway, parked free of charge and we ate our picnic on a park bench over looking the river. Then we meandered through Nashvegas for a little bit. Perfect mini tour! All free and easy to find from the highway. I really liked this park, I'm so glad that the city is taking interest in it's water front. Seriously we're so lucky!!!!!! read more

It's a great option to walk the pups at this little park that overlooks downtown from across the river. I like to walk at a slow pace and give the pups all the time to do their business. If I am ever in need of a break from a walk this is always a good option from walking long distances. The park is always clean and seems to. be safe enough to walk alone during the day. The park can sometimes be a little tuff to access when game days are near so be aware. Parking is usually not an issue. The views alone are worth the trip. read more

Splash pad good. Unattended children running at full tilt into people on the dunes not so good. Parents didn't pay, have no vested interests in keeping their kiddos in check. It's a park so there's really no lifeguard or anyone at the pad keeping order. They're around, but usually over the hill. Kids running and screaming = (fun time) or (creepers) both happen. Slides somehow are hotter than the sun. Need a shade source. Parking is a major issue and I never know when they're going to claim that it's $20 to park - I went down there several hours before an event and was told it was $20 to get into this empty lot that nobody was going to be there for another two hours for. Was also informed I could not drive my kids and wife to the park, drop them off, and go to free parking (walking distance for me, not for the kiddos). I've wasted two trips to be turned away with an empty parking lot. Fix the above and it's pretty fun. read more

This park's cool. I enjoyed exploring it. It's like a super mini Central Park. There are people hanging out and reading and playing with their kids. It's pretty dead during the day. I just wish it was cleaner in terms of dog poop. Regardless, the view from the bridge is sick, whether at night or day. They have events too, like Wine on the River. read more

Last summer, my parents took my family to visit the Louisville Riverfront Park for the first time, the primary feature of that place is this massive water-play area with spurts of water, various built-in water toys, and terraced seating for family to watch. Having visited that place, I was sad that Nashville had nothing quite like it. Sure, there's Wave Country: but that's closer to a full water park with large slides and a wave pool. This was for the kids, and had little appeal for teens. So when I learned that Cumberland Park opened, I was excited. My kids LOVED Louisville's Riverfront Park, and even though I knew this water play area was somewhat smaller, there was no way it would be a disaster. And, of course, it was pretty great. That play area is large enough to handle several dozen kids, the water spurts are high and provide a lot of splashing fun, and the non-water play is quite nice, too. It has a pretty awesome see-saw, a nice-sized sand pit, a rock wall and twenty foot slide, and a gorgeous grassy area with a nice covered stage/pavilion. My one major issue with the play area is that after about thirty minutes of water fun, the water spurts turn dead off, and then intermittently turn on and off. Kids rush from spout to spout try to get to the water to play in, only for them to shut off again within a minute. It comes off as a real tease with no real explanation. And I need one. Once it starts to get boring and frustrating, the spouts resume full-blast, but it seems too bad that they stop them to begin with. My boys and I stayed for two hours, and they never got bored. All three of us got some nasty sunburns, which might be a first for my in April, but that's not the park's fault. The location is nice, the layout is really attractive, and once stuff like the concession stand opens, the place is probably going to be one of those places that are ALWAYS packed. Get there while it's merely crowded now. read more

So I really was stuck on where to review. Was Americanarama at Riverfront or Cumberland Park? Turns out Cumberland Park includes Riverfront...so this should be the right place. Anyway...the highs are high and the lows are way low. I absolutely loved the large lawn and excellent acoustics. I did hear it was hard to hear on the hill, but we claimed a great spot on the lawn on had plenty of room to stretch on our blanket and had a great view of the stage. There were people of all ages around us, including families with small children. It also seemed like everyone was there for the music, which was awesome. On to the lows. The lines were atrocious. Also, there was no indicator of where to find the line. Perhaps that is because it wrapped from 1st and Demonbreun around the block to 2nd and Broadway. After we got to 1st and Demonbreun, we were disappointed to see that it snaked around 3 times before getting to a tent. What was that tent? Will call and day sales. Uh, what?!? Turns out, if you had a ticket, you could just walk right up and go straight in. Would've been great to know that in advance. Also, it was a good thing that I was trying to not drink much, because there were only 4 beer tents for the thousands of attendees and the lines were the longest I have ever seen...and I have been to a ton of concerts and festivals. Food lines were also long. Thankfully the soda line wasn't bad, so I had a few Diet Cokes. While I had more to say about the bad than the good, I still feel it is worth three stars as it is a really large outdoor venue that can attract larger acts. The location is also beautiful. It was reminiscent of Grant Park in Chicago with the skyline in the background. read more

This park deserves 5 stars if only because my 3 year old nephew J was wiped out and crashed hard. We searched for water features in nashvile to check out on a Sunday afternoon. We decided on Cumberland Park and headed that way. It is a little odd as as had to go through LP Field property, I think. Parking was what is usually for Titans games. As soon as we walked in there is a big sand area with a jump pad and seesaw. We were there for the splash pad, so we headed that way. I had expectations in my head of something yucky and crowded and thought we would be there a half hour tops. Right when we walked over the bridge I smelled chlorine, which is always a good sign. J was intimidated, so I got wet as well. There were a lot of people out, but no where near crowded. Everyone was having fun, from the confused toddlers, to the kids chasing the water, and grandparents sitting back enjoying the day. When we were there a park employee came by with more chlorine tablets. We wound up playing over an hour, including snack breaks on the grassy knoll area. There were lots of splashing action from nozzles, rain fall from bridge, and wading area. After we finished playing, we set out to explore. We came upon a rock wall, ropes course, slides, and more. We decided to take the elevator up to the bridge and check out the view. Of course it didn't disappoint. This is a park that would be great for an all day outing. There is a lot to do, as well as plenty of tables for picnics and a concession stand that I noticed sold icees. read more

This place is awesome for children of all ages! I have a 2 & 3 year old and they love it! There is a splash pad, a neat hilly area that's has play stuff, a sand box. There is a climbing wall, a net to climb on and places to eat. There is plenty of parking, as the park is in LP Field's shadow. They are also expanding the park as I write this. It's suppose to have an amphitheater and all sorts of other stuff to make the riverfront a lovely place to be. read more

Not sure what to say about this park except that people are not picking up their dogs poop.. Does the City of Nashville have employees that do that? Does anyone do that? Convenient to the river and LP Field. plenty of free parking in Lot R. Just look down when you walk around or allow your children to frolic on the grass. read more

I love this park. I took my four and two year old cousins here yesterday in 80 degree weather. We took Korean Vets, turned left at the first entrance before the gas station, another left at the stop sign and a left down at the river. Plenty of free parking available. We stopped in the restroom which was very clean and had touch-free sink, soap, and dryer. There is a guest information booth, unopened concessions (but coming soon), and a very nice SnoCone booth ($2 for cone, $3 for bowl). We hung a left and immediately came upon the kids area. The sandbox is closest and the dino bones attached to the bottom are more than a good foot down. It felt good to struggle a little to reach them. We ran all over the AstroTurf hills they have, but definitely wear shoes--it's hot. The four year old launched himself into the water area and tried to sit on every spigot at least once. They also had a double waterfall feature off the bridge which was more subtle. The drains for the very slightly sloped water area are up higher which creates a wading area. The two year old and I spent our time there. It was full of kids and parents, but not overcrowded. The four year old was in heaven because grass, pool water and salt water make him itchy--there's only recycled rainwater and AstroTurf. I also left my bag a good distance away and it was there when we got back. The kids area is in a bowl and it makes it easy to keep an eye on the kids. After playing in the water area for over an hour, we headed over to the rock wall where my cousins played no problem. I pulled on the tiles, but they didn't budge. There is a ropes course the four year old could do and the two year old with some assistance. The slide was so much fun and was big even for me at 27. The kids and I had a blast and will definitely be going back. The only reason I'm taking off one star is because quite a few things are made of materials that get hot in direct sunlight. They weren't scalding hot unless you leaned on them for a few seconds, so risk of a rub-up burn is low. read more

we just discovered this place a couple days ago, I knew they were building something down there, but wasn't sure what it was exactly. Well come to find out it is an awesome little park to take the kiddos to for FREE! Did I mention they have water that they can play in? and climbing walls, and cargo nets to climb on, and cool little sand boxes, and astro turf hills to climb up and down, oh yeah, and a tandem see-saw? Well they have all that and more! And it is all free, and the view of the city is amazing! read more

Was here the Sunday before a work meeting and there was a free jazz concert at Cumberland. Beautiful family-friendly venue! It is so lovely to sit in the grass and listen to the music near the river. Highly recommend a picnic blanket or chairs plus bug spray or wipes to keep the little ants from crawling up your pants. read more

We took our one year old daughter here on a Saturday afternoon and it almost seems like a hidden gem in Nashville. It was not overly crowded-maybe ten kids total were playing in the water. Our little one loved it. Plenty of parking-lots to do for both kids and adults. It is great addition to Nashville. I know we will be going back soon! read more

I think this park has potential but so far I've had two unfortunate experiences here. Two weeks ago I took my kids, only to find out that the park was closed for maintenance issues since someone had been injured. I didn't see this listed on their website, which I visited that morning. Evidently it was in the newspaper, but who reads the paper anymore? I took my 2 kids back yesterday and they had the water shut off for maintenance issues. People were showing up with their kids in their bathing suits only to have the same disappointment I had. There was no timetable on how long it would take them to fix the water but with a heat index near 100, I wasn't sticking around any longer to find out. I'm 0-2 in visits to this park and I'm not in any hurry to see if the third time would be a charm. read more
