My kids are older now, but we used to play here often pre-renovation. They did a beautiful job with the renovation. I come here twice a week to take a Nia dance class through the Park District of Oak Park. The space is perfect for the class. Always clean, well-ventilated, the water fountain works, all of the equipment is in good working order, and the teacher, Andrea, is the best!! Masks are required to come inside, and there is a Park District attendant at the door of the building to ensure that the mask requirement is complied with, which I really appreciate. Stevenson Park is a great place to take a class and a super spot to run around with the kids a bit! There is some free street parking along Lake, but make sure you follow the signs. I think only one side of the road (the south side) is free. I saw someone getting a ticket for parking on the north side of the road yesterday.

Just right next to the outdoor playground is a basketball court and a skate park which are kept in great condition. What surprised me most was the concrete ping pong table and the checkers/chess tables as an extra bonus for older visitors. If you're looking to escape from the cold weather the Cubhouse indoor playground offers warmth and a spacious playroom for $5 per child (adults are free).

Nice walking track but somewhat monotonous as it's 15 laps to a mile - it can get old fast unless there's an interesting game going on on the basketball court below. Clean and bright. Not sure how busy the fitness equipment gets since I haven't been in that space but I did see lots of people headed that way so it seems large enough. Nice addition to Oak Park if you live or work nearby.

Full disclosure, I've only used the gym, walking path, and fitness center at the Oak Park CRC. (I…read moreuse the fitness center most of all.) They've recently added machines to the fitness center which, while adds to the variety, also minimizes the space. There fitness center is quite small, clean, and has 3 sanitizing stations to spray down the equipment. There is also an attendee, or two, at the front entrance, and a couple of (muted) TVs. Unlike a conventional fitness center, there is no music played, so headphones are encouraged, and they don't have AC or fans. There are also small lockers available. The walking path is exactly as it sounds. It's a clean walking path, with a few lanes, and a large clock so you can keep track of time. There is also a sanitizing station there, a couple of mats (for stretching), and a punching bag. It smells a bit like rubber, but that's due to the path itself. The gym is divided into 2 spaces. It's a pretty standard gym offering volleyball, basketball, pickleball, open gym, etc. (There are schedules to notify you of what is available.) If you're looking for a typical fitness center experience, this is not the place for you. You should not expect it to compete with, or compare it to, Planet Fitness, LA Fitness, Xsport, etc. It's a community recreation center. I've found that my experience varies depending on how many people are there and, more specifically, on what machines. As I stated, space is limited in the fitness center. I wish they did have a few mounted fans, or AC, to move some air around.

It was affordable as opposed to some other places. It was perfect for a 12 year old boy's birthday party. They take care of ordering the pizza and are very easy to work with. In that time, she was moved from one age bracket to another ( because they couldn't retain players from 2009 and the majority of the girls left), had her team broken up into two teams ( the white and orange teams, when one had a game, the other missed practice & had no game), then brought them back together only to have SEVEN girls leave the team. Roma lacks in communication and transparency. They lost their boys premier team because they couldn't retain those players either. They advertise that each team will receive 2 practices per week, however, our last 8 game season, had THREE weeks where they only had one practice for the week with no make-ups. They do have an indoor facility but since they started using the indoor facility for rec, travel teams rarely get to utilize the inside when there is inclement weather. They also advertise that they have a winter season, and they do, but you will be playing the same two teams over & over. If you are looking for a club where your child will grow and develop, your money will be better spent somewhere else!
