I worked with him for a few hours…read moreon some acting headshots, which I absolutely needed to find very reasonably price and still top-of-the-line quality. On the professional level, the lighting, angles, backdrop, all the lenses and technical what-have-yous really make all the difference. The cameras he used were massive and looked quite heavy. I can't explain exactly how all the elements worked together in the studio, but when I saw the lighting and tone in the completed photos I knew that we had been making some magic during the session. The framing and angles were spot-on and lent my various likenesses to specific types of roles that a casting director might have in mind. Al's studio is very spacious and comfortable, and I felt uninhibited as we tried a lot of different poses and worked all around the space. The process itself was really great fun. If there's one thing an actor needs (like oxygen), it's DIRECTION. One inch outside of the strike box and I may have turned out like a deer in the headlights, because in those moments you have to make yourself very vulnerable. This guy knew how to bring the look out and the vibe of the shoot was very relaxed and comfortable. Speaking of comfortable, I was very much so in Albert's studio. He made me feel at home, and encouraged me to take a break and change outfits or just relax and talk for a bit to unwind after a particular shoot. It was a good way to keep the energy up. After I thought I was done, it turns out I WASN'T done, because Al knew there was just one more shot he could get, which turned into several great ones. Then we were done. When he sent me the photos I was impressed not just by the quality (very professional) but the quantity and range of different looks that he was able to get out of me. As an actor, that sort of extraction is as good as it gets. When time no doubt ages me some more, I will be back to work with a genuine pro for the next round.
