[Out-of-Towner Review] I'm pretty sure TT told me about Cupid's Booksthop I had a moment to stop by, so I happily did! Little did I know this area was soo cute and heavily trafficked! Parking was a nightmare, but it was worth it. But the Manayunk neighborhood is adorable! So, they claim they are the "city's first brick-and-mortar romance bookstore." But I did find another that also claims this too! Regardless, I'm ALWAYS going to go to a #romancebookstore! I also happens to walk in during an #authorevent, where Lily Larkspur was signing "Merry Meet Again. Lily said if Hallmark movies were my jam, the.n I'd like her book, so obviously I got it. Signed, and all I honestly don't need any more books (WEIRD to say), so i browsed for a good, long while. But finally, I settled on a book with the edges sprayed in a soccer ball pattern -- the girly tomboy in me loves a book about my fave sport The bookstore, all 600 square feet, is extremely packed full of all romance genres that are very visibly labeled. They also have adorable merch, clothing, and tons of romance trinkets. But BY FAR are the Cockmark (bookmarks) that are so unassuming Also, just down the street is the brand new Thrillerdeplia, a horror and thriller bookstore! I didn't have a chance to swing by, but I'm adding it to my "to do" list! Philly has a limited selection findependent bookstores but Cupid is worth a visit! read more

I was really excited to find such a cute bookstore, but the customer service was terrible. The store was basically empty & I was the only person not greeted or spoken too. It was blatant. I just left because why would I spend my money somewhere my dollar clearly isn't valued. Really disappointing. read more

Cupid's Bookshop in Manayunk is the cozy, heart-filled escape every romance reader deserves. From the moment you walk in, you're wrapped in charm from the romantic decor and clever signage to the life-sized Fabio cutout. The store is beautifully organized by genre, making it easy to find your next read. I loved seeing new releases side-by-side with beloved classics. The blind date with a book was clever! You'll find something to love here. There are comfy reading nooks, friendly and enthusiastic staff. The merch is so cute- so many stickers, tees, totes, mugs, and more. It's the kind of place where you'll come for one book and leave with a whole bag (make good use of those tote bags). Decent pricing allows for that, too. Also, they also host author signings that make it more than a store, a community. I followed their journey on Instagram from bare walls to grand opening. Watching them build this space with so much love was inspiring. Now that it's open, can't wait to go back and fall in love with my next read. read more

What a cute little book shop! Sections are by sub genre, of course. There are also lots of little extras, like bookmarks, and stickers, and little pillows. There's a section of old mass market romances with the awesome Harlequin covers! They're only five dollars. Love them! I got two. Will I read them? Probably not. read more

I was really excited to check this place out, then left severely disappointed. I know 2 stars may seem harsh, but hear me out on why I was really upset with my experience here. When you first walk in, they have a few charms, book marks, and items trinkets for sale. Among these items are a few pride items (pride flag branded items mostly). This got me excited! As a queer person, I was really hoping to find some LGBTQ romance books. So I start looking around. My friend shows me that they have one book with a lesbian love story in the featured section, but we couldn't find anything else! Until... we go to the back corner. In the back corner, past the clearance, past the sale books, and right next to the employees only door (so if it's opened the section is blocked!) , is the LGBQT section. Literally the absolute furthest it could be from the door, safely hidden in the back corner. When I first walked in I was excited by the pride items since I thought that the store might be a place that celebrates queer stories. However, we almost didn't find the section at all! Hopefully for pride month they can step up the game and make the section more easily accessible indefinitely! read more

I went today. It was a cute little bookstore that sold bookish gifts too! Everything was organized and they even sold vintage romance novels. I was happy to see there was diversity in the selection. I will be back to support this indie bookstore with more time on my hands. read more

This place is such a gem! The minute I walked in, I was greeted with a warm hello from the owner. The store layout is great, spacious and easy to navigate. I quickly found the LGBTQ+ section and had a couple of questions, which Tina answered thoughtfully and with genuine care without being pushy. Tina mentioned they had just celebrated a very successful opening and that more titles are on the way, which made me even more excited to come back soon and see what's new. This is now my safe haven for romance books. The stickers and other fun goodies were a delightful bonus, perfect for my non-reading friends, so there's truly something for everyone here. read more
