Rude staff. Make mistakes due to lack of listening. Incompetent and careless, unable and unwilling to help after they make mistakes themselves read more

I currently live in the States but recently needed to buy a new dryer, get it delivered and installed in my home in Co. Cork, and have the old faulty one taken away. I decided I'd buy high end one with a A+++ energy rating so it wasn't cheap. My niece handled the purchase in the Curry's Mahon Point store on the 7th of January 2021. The purchase went fine. I got text notification that the unit would be delivered on Tuesday the 19th. So far so good. On the 19th the delivery crew arrived and brought the new dryer into the house (the hallway by the front door to be exact). When the person living in the house asked them can they plug it in for her (it only requires plugging in) they refused the request and also refused to take the old unit away claiming this was an additional service that wasn't ordered at the time of purchase. BTW The person they were refusing is a heavily pregnant woman with a young child. Now, It's true my niece didn't request any "installation services" from Curry's when the machine was purchased. But here's some critical pieces of information: 1) The salesperson never once mentioned anything about needing to book extra services. If they had then my niece would've requested them. 2) According to currys.ie website extra services weren't required, it states: "For most large products we can take away your old appliance for you and for FREE when we deliver your new one." The 'FREE' is capitalised on their website. I didn't add that. https://www.currys.ie/ieen/terms-and-conditions-1044-theme.html#install 3) How about installation services? On curry's 'Installation Services' page where it describes the services you can book, it doesn't mention dryers. https://www.currys.ie/ieen/team-knowhow-installation-413-commercial.html I'm assuming this is because no actual 'installation' is required. So, now I need to sort this out. I attempted to call their Curry's customer services number (1890 818 575) but as that's an in-country lo-call number and I can't access it from outside Ireland.s I then emailed their customer services "customer.services@currys.ie" and requested them to contact me by phone or email to help resolve this issue - No reply. I then asked my niece could she call them as she's based in Ireland. An hour later I got the following texts from her. "I was on the call for 30 minutes. For some reason I was put through to the UK. The customer support person said the installation service wasn't paid but he said he got manager approval to put it the installation through for free. He transferred me, but he put me through to South Africa where I had to explain it all again. The new customer support person had no idea what I was talking about. Had to explain it all again. She said she was sending an email to the store in Cork and copying you on it" I didn't receive any email and have zero faith an email was actually sent to the store. I noticed the dryer receipt had the Curry's Mahon Store phone number on it so I phoned them directly. It was now about 4.30pm Irish time. I tried the number 5 times but the phone just kept ringing until it rang out - not even an answering machine picked up. At that point I called it a day. The following day, the 20th, I again phoned the store. It was still morning time in Ireland. I called a total of 10 times during the day but it just rang out every time. You don't believe me? Please, try calling them. Here's their number 021-4615800. I emailed their customer support again, and again no reply. I texted my niece to see if she could try their customer support helpline again for me. She sent me the following texts: "Oh my god, I've just talked to the rudest customer support person! She shouted at me saying NO YOU PAY FOR THE RECYCLING OF YOUR OLD MACHINE, and hung up on me!" "I'm onto another guy. He also hung up. These people are working from home and have absolutely no customer service skills. He kept saying u need to pay for the service so when I asked how much he hung up. I'm on again. I'm on hold. I literally begged him not to transfer me to Africa. Seems a little more hopeful. He said it's €25 . I said ok. I'm on hold. Praying he is booking it in U won't believe this . The call disconnected. I don't think I have the strength to ring again" "I'll try once more. I've been on the phone for over an hour and no one wants to help me. it disconnected again when she said she was transferring me" At that point, after two solid days of trying to contact Curry's to help resolve the issue, I called it quits. I finally had to arrange to pay a 3rd party 100 euro to collect the old dryer from my house and drop it at their store. It only took the person 5 minutes to set up the new machine and load the old one into their vehicle and take it away. It's not about the 100 euro I paid, or the 25 euro fee which I would've been happy to pay, it's the total lack of service. It's by far the worst customer service I've ever experienced. read more
This shop is located in one of the busiest "suburb" malls from outside of Cork city. Mahon Point has free parking and is always crowded like if everyone decided to go shopping at the same time. Currys & PC World are one of the several shops in the area and me and 2 friends decided to go in browsing for big screen TV's January deals. The only star awarded in this review goes to the layout, light, cleanliness and variety offered in this shop as it boasts lots of electronic products (but this can be seen in their website, which would probably offer a better shopping experience) in many of not so known such as Seiki or very known brands such as Apple and Sony. The thing is the customer service is completely non existent in this shop, and because of this the store loses any possibility of getting any other stars. Avoiding to bore the reader but summing it all up the only word that comes to mind is frustration. We saw a fair amount of devices and we wanted some more specific information regarding a few of the models but it was impossible to find someone, or better yet, it was impossible to find a helpful someone. We spotted 4 or 5 employees and when we went up to them they all gave excuses and left. Anything from "I will be with you in 5 minutes" (leading to their total disappearance) to "my shift has now just finished". It was unreal to keep on going in circles and waiting for the person that would never show up. The same thing happened to employees that were wearing shirts promoting specific brands only (working for a particular section of the shop). We spent about 1 hour and 30 min in the shop and most of the time, we were waiting while listening to loud pop happy and optimistic tunes. But we did not leave the place feeling as such. #yelpelite2016 read more

My husband bought a dishwasher from Currys in Mahon Point and it doesn't work. He spent hours trying to contact them on their 1890 number and kept getting messages saying all their operators were busy. When he eventually got through, he was given a code number and told to bring the machine back to the store, quoting the code number, and he would be given an exchange. He was also given the phone number for the Cork store but whenever he phoned it, it reverted to the 1890 number where all the operators were busy. I sent a message to Currys via Facebook and my husband received a call this morning. The representative told my husband that because we collected the machine from the stores in Cork, we have to bring it back to Cork for an exchange. We paid a plumber €70 to have the machine installed, we now have to pay another €70 to have it disconnected and another €70 to have the new one connected. That's a total of €210 plus petrol costs of €60 making a grand total of €270 for a dishwasher that cost €179.99. One would think that Currys could be a little more accommodating as it wasn't our fault that they sold us a faulty product. In my opinion, I think Currys realise that we may not be able to bring the appliance back to the store and they won't have to replace it, which means they have made themselves a tidy little profit and to hell with us. The moral of the story is, DON'T SHOP IN CURRYS. read more

Disaster order. You get a flurry of needless emails ahead of delivery. Supposed to be delivered on a working day. No other choice Got one call from driver and number does not take return calls. Had to call 1890 number eating time and money. They rebooked to another day without contacting me and having made no second attempt. Inflexible navel gazing company unfocused on customer service. Steer clear read more

Worst customer service I've ever experienced honestly. Spent 3 hours in store to no avail. Managers arguing with each other, rude, made me call head office from my own mobile for 45mins while they pointed fingers and transferred me to other numbers as no one had a clue how to resolve a simple matter. Terrible training. Shocking people skills. Rude manner. DO NOT BUY HERE! read more

Probably the worst customer experience I've had. Bought a TV and fridge off this store in January very slick sales people who charged me then an hour and a half with the help desk to actually order the items and to inform them of all the promises the sales people made. 6months later fridge dies losing nearly a litre of my wife's frozen breastmilk and to get any movement required 3 visits to the store totaling about 6hours before they finally replaced the fridge with a display model... Which is also broken. Customer service put my wife back to the menu rather than talk to her twice and now we have to go to the store again. I will never shop here again read more

I had to bring back a magimix food processor yesterday which was broken (had had it for a year). Without any fuss I got offered an replacement. I had geared myself up to having to give huge explanations and starting a big long argument about it - and it was all dealt with in less than 5 minutes. Fantastic!!!! I left the story as a very very happy customer. read more

Can't give no stars unfortunately. Had a number of items reserved including a 65 inch curved 4k tv coming to a total cost of 1900 euro. After receiving a call that the items were available earlier that day I went to the store to pay for the items and organise delivery (60min drive to store) . I was told that the model TV I reserved was sold out and only the display model was available. I was informed that the model had been on display for 8 months (This works out as 12hrs/day x 7days x 32weeks = 2688 hours usage or the equivalent of 2years usage for normal people). I was still interested as I had come a long way for it so I asked to speak to a the Manager to negotiate a price as the member of staff I was dealing with was going to speak with him anyway with every question I asked. The Manager (bald English guy) approached my wife and I with a stern look on his face and looked annoyed he had been dragged away from his very important job of standing in the corner talking to other members of staff. Long story short he informed me I had to pay full price for everything regardless of condition and would not even include delivery for free (40 euro). I also tried to get a warranty for the TV instead of a discount (350 euro for 5 years was the offer they had tried to sell me earlier) and no he would not do that either or anything similiar. I told him he could keep his items and left. Ended up getting the exact same TV and other items from Amazon for 1400 euros plus 35 euro delivery. I recommend only using Curry's to view items you are interested in and purchase elsewhere as they have little knowledge are rude and obviously no idea how to treat customers read more

Here's my email to their customer dept, no reply as yet "Hi, I've shopped at Currys-PC/World for a number of years and never had cause to make a complaint. This all changed last Saturday when myself and my girlfriend went to Curry's in Mahon Point, Cork, Ireland. I had been eyeing a particular piece of kit (Sony HT-CT660) for a number of weeks. It was out of stock immediately after Christmas. I phoned you stock checkers in the UK and was told to check it's availability each Thursday since that's when the system was updated. I checked diligently for a number of weeks and last week (Thurs/Fri) I was delighted to see it available again at a good price (Euro 319.99 - it was 50 euro off rrp). We made the journey to the other side of Cork, saw the item on the shelf, the shelf price still Euro 319.99. Myself and my girlfriend hauled it up the shelf, all excited. The Cashier at the till named the old price. I told him the sticker price - then he proceeded to go and check it. He went over then and physically removed the old price - so it had no price on it now. I checked on my smartphone and indeed the price had bounced back. But it's the removing of the old sticker price that wrankled with me - as if we had hallucinated the thing. Then we asked to see the manager and he offered his apologies profusely (he seemed well drilled in this exercise). He said he could give us 25 euro off or through some complex discounting process we could pay full price now and receive a voucher for 50euro the original discount - he'd see what he could do. He mentioned also that he's leaving the job next week - as in I'm not really that bothered and sick of the complaining customers, probably to try and build up some rapport regarding a common 'rage against the machine' that is Dixons retail - "you're not a happy customer, but look I'm not even a happy staff member". Anyway I was sick of his nonsense by this stage. Finally he went and conferred with a different colleague at the till and then said before he briskly walked off that "Sandra will look after you". She did look after us, no mention of any voucher just the original offer of 25 euro off. This leads me to believe the original story peddled by the manager was complete BS. I am telling people at work and friends to steer clear of your operation if possible in future. I certainly won't be darkening your door in future. I thought I'd let you so hopefully you have the foresight to rectify your processes and with luck not lose even more customers in the future. Regards, ____" read more
