I visited Curry's in St Helens Ravenhead Retail Park recently with my 85 year old grandmother. I was hoping to find a helpful assistant who could answer my queries around teletext. I was extremely disappointed to be dealt with by no less than 3 members of staff each of whom had limited knowledge about the questions. We wanted to be able to see the remote controls to see if my Gran would be able to see the numbers, we requested to see 3 different remotes and it took half an hour to find one, the others never materialised. One of the shop assistants repeatedly called me dear, even after I gave him my name and asked him to stop calling me dear. They were unable to show us any of the televisions hooked up to an actually aerial so that we could see the subtitles, and even though we couldn't check that the product met our requirements before purchase, the returns policy only applied to breakages.
Even after we decided to purchase the TV anyway, we were told that it was out of stock and only TVs with stickers on saying take home today were available. Which turned out to be 7 models in the whole store. At no point did anyone offer to check other stores in the area and when we my Gran suggested we go somewhere else the response was everywhere else is the same.
I was wholly disappointed that such a big store offered such poor information and customer service. read more
