One thing I wish would change was how knowledgeable workers are on where things are located, guiding people and also exiting the venue tends to be a problem often due to traffic jamming since there's one main exit point. Overall I do like coming here for events, I prefer it over going to San Jose for sure.

Ok, here's a Throwback Thursday story…read more My first visit to this wonderful place was to see the New York Jets against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. November 17, 1968. The contest pitted "Broadway" Joe Namath against Daryle "The Mad Bomber" Lamonica. It was my first time attending an NFL game. It turned out to be a game that many say was the most memorable regular season NFL game ever. In the History of Sports, this game will forever be remembered as The Heidi Game. It's called The Heidi Game because the game ran much longer than expected and, in the Eastern US, NBC cut off their broadcast of the game to show a made-for-TV version of the children's classic, Heidi. When the East Coast broadcast was cut there was 1:01 left on the game clock, the Jets had just successfully kicked a field goal and went ahead by three. What happened next was almost too wild to be true. The Raiders scored two touchdowns in 9 seconds and subsequently ended up winning the game. Let that settle in for a minute. Fourteen points, in the span of nine seconds on the game clock. After each of those scores the Coliseum erupted in a frenzied outburst of emotion the likes of which I had never seen. I watched the game with my Dad from our end zone seats high up on the third deck. I was just a little kid, but that game left an indelible impression on me. Not just me. The Jets were in playoff contention (they ended up beating the Colts in Super Bowl III at the end of the season). So many outraged fans called the network to complain the switchboards were overloaded. (After this debacle, TV broadcast policy changed and subsequently games were shown to completion. A special secure telephone system was set up so Network executives could reliably reach local broadcasters to supervise broadcasts) The Heidi Game perfectly reflected the intense rivalry between the Raiders and the Jets. It was a rivalry that ran deep, and the contests were always savagely brutal. Just as an example, in a regular season game the year before the Heidi game, Raiders Defensive End Ben Davidson delivered a hit on Jets QB Joe Namath that broke his jaw and sent his helmet flying. After that game Namath taunted Davison, telling reporters he had been beaten up worse by women. Clearly, Joe Namath had ice water flowing in his veins. In addition to the famous Heidi game and so many more exciting Raiders games, I have been blessed to see so many other great events at the Oakland Alameda County Coliseum. I will never forget seeing Vida Blue throw 100 mile per hour fastballs in 1971. Or seeing Ray Charles headlining a show with Ike and Tina Turner as an opening act. Or seeing The Grateful Dead opening for The Who twice in 1976 Or seeing Led Zeppelin twice in 1977. Or seeing Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Peter Frampton, Dave Mason, Fleetwood Mac, Joe Walsh, Johnny and Edgar Winter, Bob Seger, Charlie Daniels, Status Quo, Jeff Beck, Journey, J Geils Band. Blue Oyster Cult, Sammy Hagar, The Eagles, Foreigner, Judas Priest, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Ted Nugent, Cheap Trick, Van Halen, UFO, Thin Lizzy, The Outlaws, Peter Tosh, Toots and Maytals, and probably a dozen or two other bands I will recall immediately after I finish writing this review. There are a hell of a lot of incredible, eminently memorable shows on that list. But I'm telling you, as memorable experiences go, the Heidi game topped all of them. Fourteen points in Nine Seconds on the game clock! It sucks so bad that the Raiders have fallen on dark times lo these many years now. But I don't give a damn. I'm a Raiders fan for life. Very easy to go in and out, not as strict as large volume places like the Memorial or the pavilion. Sometimes games are paid some are not, bot sure what is determined by this. A basic ticket stand and a stand of some merch and food; give you the basics. There are bathrooms available inside. Enjoy the art-deco architecture. It opened in 1932. and named after a mathematician professor George C. Edwards. One can really sit anywhere as nothing is assigned but on a hot sunny day go for the top or the press seating. It's all wide open. The views are splendid with the campanile, the Big C, and southside; truly a 180-degree view. Food and drinks are permitted and nobody said anything even though the rules were posted. Love coming back as an alumnus to support my alma mater.

I found tickets off Groupon and paid $16 for bleacher seating. It was $22 for arena seating but to be honest I was as close as I wanted to be. There were some incredible performances such as the motorcycle in cage, juggling and the acts like the illusions. The performance was totally age appropriate. I heard a family near me state that they thought there was going to be animals and I was surprised not to see any as well but the performance definitely made up for it. I could definitely tell that the performers and entertainers really worked their butts off to make this a great entertaining show. I didn't see any mistakes or mess ups. The entertainers are VERY talented and you can truly see that they love their job and take pride in their performances. FOOD: They do serve popcorn and cotton candy. The prices seemed a little steep for me but I expected that. Cotton Candy was $5 and the small popcorn is $6 and Hot Dogs for $6. They also have pictures that you can take with the performers which cost $15 and although this didn't seem like a big hit, I thought it was a great idea. The show started at 7:30PM and ended at 9PM with a 15 minute break at 8:20PM. I personally had a great time and would definitely do this again if I had the opportunity. The food is your typical game food and snacks, easy to eat like a hot dog, fries and nachos, and of course it is pricy.

My biggest complaint is with the design of the bleachers, don't drop anything or it's rolling all the way down. This problem is going to be worse for people with kids, I had to chase down water bottles and toys all game. Next time we're going to bring organizers to prevent this. My other issue was that the lights were out in all the bathrooms, not a big deal while the sun was still up, but a real issue after sunset!

The stadium is very clean, and the layout makes it easy to get around without feeling chaotic. Parking was smooth thanks to the nearby parking garage, which made arrival and departure stress free. The exterior of the stadium has a classic, almost Rome Coliseum-like vibe that gives it a grand, historic feel as you navigate around. Food wise, I decided to try the chicken tenders with a side of tater tots. The chicken tenders were decent, and the tater tots were too crunchy like it was overcooked. All in all, it's a nice stadium with good facilities, clean spaces, and a beautiful stadium exterior that stands out. It's worth a visit for games and special events, even if the concession food could use some improvement.

Oski's Village is open three hours before kickoff for every home game. It's been a minute since I've been to this Stadium, and I will say it's a beauty! I dig the local collabs with food and bev, awesome staff, and just nostalgic feels within the interior/exterior. And the marching band...the marching band! We def sat in the nosebleeds, but even the crowd is super cool and kiddo-friendly. There's just something about a hometown college team that you can't do anything but smile and root for..also, my college didn't have a football team so maybe that's a bias :)) All in all, Oski's Village made it quite the experience for everyone..appreciate game day inclusivity for young ones too! Core memories are housed in a private tour for a friend's bday, Green Day concert, Giants/women's soccer games and events, Fourth wing fan night, the Giants Half Marathon all in this iconic park. Sure, everything's super $$$ but the location, interior and food are worth the splurge. I learned the hard way that you can't just pay on the day. I ended up paying $50 at 72 Mission Rock Street, San Francisco, CA, which was a bit steep, but it's San Francisco, so that's to be expected. Concession prices were also pretty high. A sandwich was over $20, and my partner's beer was $22. Despite the cost and the parking hassle, the overall experience was fantastic. We were all the way up at the top (free tickets from work), but the view was still amazing. Eating peanuts and soaking in the live game was just so much better than watching on TV. As someone not super into sports, I learned so much and truly enjoyed it. I'm already looking forward to coming back for more games!

The merch stand could be in a better spot, but this is an old theater and that wasn't a thing back when it was built. I was amazed by the size of the stage once I got to the floor. From the outside I had no idea how tall it would be. The balcony is huge and for some shows would be a great view. I was on the barricade singing along to New Constellations and The Midnight. It sounded so good and I can't wait to come back for another show!
