Had my cart in for service while I was out of state. The tech noticed a problem and Melissa called to ask if we wanted it taken care of. Since it was already there, we agreed. Our cart was dropped off to our RV and shortly thereafter the original issue reappeared. Turns out there appeared to be a misunderstanding as to the scope of work. It was written up correctly, but there was a breakdown between the front end and the back end. Once notified of the issue, Rick offered to pick the cart up to make it right, but we were leaving for the season and our storage company had already notified us they were picking up the cart the next day. Rick then authorized the refund to our credit card. Considering the Covid-19 scare that was prevalent at the time, the number of clients that were trying to get their carts fixed, mix-ups do happen. We have had our cart serviced by Custom Carts numerous times and have always had great service. We have complete faith in the company and will schedule the cart in for service upon our return. Rick, Melissa, and the others work hard to treat people fairly. Mistakes do happen, but under the circumstances, I'm more than satisfied at the outcome. read more

Watch out , Rick (owner) doesn't respond to phone calls. His employees won't tighten the lugs on your wheels. They will put the wrong battery in to scam you out of more money. When you call about the issues he will act like it's not his problem and treat it like you're the problem. He has a filthy mouth and no respect for his customers. We have spent $6k with this place only to have an issue with all work done. SCAM SCAM SCAM. He told me me to F*** Off when I brought up concerns. Read the other reviews. Rick does bad business. I'm not sure why there are negative reviews on here for Custom Golf Carts. Perhaps they are from his competition? Our experience was first rate. He picked our cart up Friday (free pick-up and delivery) and called me today. As expected, the batteries were in bad shape. Instead of telling us right away that we needed new batteries, Rick explained that we could use the cart as is, but it will have drastically shorter range. He talked me through the different battery, cost and warranty options. We decided on a plan and the cart was ready about an hour after we talked. I couldn't ask for more than that. Rick's showroom and shop are well laid out. He has a great selection of carts and from what I saw, very reasonable prices. Don't overlook them. Stop by and make your own decision. I won't talk about the shop since I was never in it but the service says everything. Website (Facebook), Google maps, and recorded message state they are open daily, except Sunday at 9 AM. I would NEVER recommend this ripoff place to anyone! Had a golf cart reconditioned and they painted the old top and charged 350.00 after 2 months the paint is coming off. Had a radio installed, never worked from the time it was delivered. Called several times only to get the run around. Now they say they will not do anything about it. I tried shopping at this dealer for the second time in the last 10 years and the owner tried the same "bait and switch" game with me - that he tried a few years ago. He priced a renovated golf cart at an attractive low price online, got me into the showroom, made numerous statements and promises regarding options and extras, the age of batteries, splitting the State Taxes, and other inducements, than when it came time to write up the contract - prices and amenities changed, and he blamed the lower advertised price as a mistake by one of his employees. He said I was trying to take advantage of him. All I did was repeat the promises he had verbalized to me, before we sat down to write u the deal. FROM OFFICE OF ATTORNEY GENERAL I called Custom Golf Carts of Spring Hill in November 2021 to fix my golf cart. I spoke to the owner, Rick Burger and he arranged a time for his driver to come and pick my golf cart up. He called a few days later and said it was the batteries. I didn't hear from him until January 5, 2022 when he call to tell me it was ready. He said that he had to order batteries and supposedly it took two months. I promptly paid him over the phone $1,049 via American Express. I asked when it could be delivered to me. He said he didn't know at the time because he only has one driver and he's very busy. I travel a lot checking on my businesses in other states and I don't live in Hernando County full time. I tried calling him a number of times and left messages for him to call me back and he called me a few times that I missed. A couple of times I made arrangements to pick up my golf cart and when I got to the business it was closed and no one answered the phone. We finally spoke yesterday June 9, 2022 and he told me that he won't return my golf cart until I pay him $2,000 for "storage". My girlfriend, Yvonne Goldman called to try and reason with Rick and he said he had to charge the storage fee. She asked him to email her an invoice showing where it states he can charge a storage fee. He said he'd email it in the morning. Yvonne checked her email on June 10, 2022 and there was nothing from Rick. She called him and Rick said he's send something over shortly. She told he she didn't want something handwritten but an invoice stating stating that he can charge a storage fee. He said he didn't have that. She told him that she was going to take this issue to the proper state agencies as well as the internet. His response was go ahead. So now he's getting formal complaints from the Florida Department of Consumer Affairs, the BBB and every internet site! STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS! RICK BURGER IS AN UNETHICAL RIP OFF! 4/22 Filed a complaint with the BBB. Burger never answered them. I filed a complaint with the Office of the Attorney General and they've guided me on how to handle the situation. Chris had to meet a Hernando County Sheriff at Burger's business to see if the cart was there or had been sold. His lovely daughter was there and wouldn't let us walk around. So know we are suing him for multiple counts. STAY AWAY FROM THIS LYING UNPROFESSIONAL SCAMMER! He represented he may have sold our golf cart without our knowledge or permission and failed to confirm that fact or offer us compensation or a replacement vehicle. We cannot proceed with a criminal action without confirmation of the status of the golf cart. Chronology: We, Yvonne Goldman & Chris Vellanti (Air Force veteran). In January 2022, Burger called and we paid $1,049 via AMX for batteries over the phone. We never received any paperwork, and since we had our credit card statement to prove we paid the invoice. Burger advised he could not return the golf cart because he was short staffed. We made several attempts to schedule to pick it up during business hours and no one answered the phone. Burger never contacted us again. We called him in June and Burger told us we owed a storage fee of $2,000 and he wouldn't release the golf cart. He had no paperwork stating this and he this. We then learned in another call to Burger that he "accidently" may have sold our golf cart. We had no knowledge, and never granted him permission to sell it. Avoid Custom Golf Carts behind Chili's. I hate to do this but I hate companies that rip people off even more. We bought a new cart in July. Paid $6500. Within a month the front tires started going significantly bald on the inside. We called them and they picked it up and they said there was something wrong with the king pin (I have no idea what that is) and they fixed it and they would put new tires on it. All was good until a few days ago I happened to be on the ground behind the cart and I noticed the back tires are completely bald on the inside. This cart is 6 months old and within the year warranty. I called them and they picked it up. I assumed something was wrong with the rear end suspension causing them to wear that way. They called today to tell us that they would replace the tires at cost but the tires wore that way because once a wear pattern is started the tires will continue to wear out how it has begun. They did not replace the worn tires with new tires as they told us they did, they simply rotated our tires and put the bad ones on the back and our good ones on the front and we were none the wiser. This cart was a month old at the time that they did this. . We are expected to pay $100 today for tires that were supposed to be replaced under warranty to begin with. When my husband expressed his frustration with the fact that we were lied to the owner Rick told him that he owns the company and doesn't have to do anything at all so we are on our own and he isn't working on it at all, they are bringing our cart back and hung up. Now we have paid $6500 for a cart.. still have 6 months of warranty that the company clearly isn't going to honor and they don't do honest work to begin with. Custom Golf Carts- Buyer Beware Last June 2020 I went to Custom Golf Carts , 3019 Commercial Way, Spring Hill Florida, 34606 to purchase a golf cart. I talked with the owner of the business Rick Burger. I picked out a golf cart with all the accessories that I wanted, EZGo cart, picked out the color, mirrors, seats, wheels, tires, etc.....Burger than asked me for a deposit of two thousand five hundred dollars which I gave him that day. Burger told me he would keep in touch with me, send pictures etc.. I told Burger I will be back to pick up the cart 1st week of January 2021. Days later I called the business ,no answer left message with my phone #, did this total of five times over a two months, no one ever answers the phone when I called and no call backs!!!?? Figured must be screening my calls??!! First week of January 2021 I showed up just like I told Burger I would. I Asked Burger how come you never called me like you said you would, he said I called you 10 times, (lie) told him I never received any calls from you. Well come to find out he wrote wrong # down on one sheet and the correct # on another sheet but also had the correct address on both sheets. I asked him well why didn't you send me a card asking me to call you, his exact words were" I'm not in business to track people down, I'm in business to sell golf carts"!!!!!!???Great customer service.......after $2500.00 deposit!!!! The phone # he supposedly called 10 times has never been In service , now you would think, well its never been in service , I will call it nine more times to see if anyone will answer, really???? So I asked Burger where's my golf cart? He said "I sold it"! I said even thou I gave you $2500.00 dollars you sold it?? He tried to tell me that I told him I would pick it up in October (lie) I told him I never said that! Then he said I didn't think you were coming back. really??? After I gave you $2500.00 dollars??!! Before I had even gone there some one told me not to do business with Burger they said he will lie to you , cheat you and rip you off!! Should have listened. To top it off he was rude, very defensive, no apology, he could of cared less, did not even try to make it right. Come to find out it was not a good deal any way. First time golf cart owner would learn the hard and costly way how important quality cables and cable connections are to battery life. My batteries would fail within 10 months of cart purchase. Rick concluded that I had a cable problem, not a battery probelm and replaced one cable and invoiced me for it. Over several weeks and no improvement of carts performance, and trying to get a satisfactory resolution with Rick Burger I would go to another vendor for evaluation. This vendor's technician immediately identified poor quality cable connections and was easily able to pull (2) cables from connections. I would learn be searching a major battery manufacturer how vital quality cables and cable connections are between battery(s), the load and charging system. That faulty connectors can lead to poor performance, affect battery life, or damage battery components. Rick claims his shop does not warranty batteries, even though his build invoice includes 2 year warranty. He wants to make this about customer not following a process involving several steps to determine battery failure to recieve manufacturer's warranty. I believe this failure would not have resulted if CGC had provided quality cables at original purchase. I would absorb the cost of batteries and cables at 10 months from original purchase. Rick B took our golf cart on a consignment sale.After several calls to Melissa B Ricks daughter she said she would look into it and have Rick call back. They never once called back to follow up. The golf cart has apparently vanished onto thin air. i did stop in to talk to Rick the owner to follow up after getting nowhere with phone calls. And all I got was some fancy lip service.I spoke with three other people who also have dealt with this company and all had a bad experience. He is not honest and if you choose to deal with this company BEWARE.Do yourself a favor and do your business elsewhere.This is not how the elderly should be treated. Not reputable. Does not update the cart (as he preaches) eg. 2015-2018. The work is only cosmetic (what you can See). He cannot use OEM parts because he is not an authorized dealer. This is very important when dealing with a used cart. So many problems with the cart. Had a chance to get my full refund through the credit I used. My wife said get the refund and I decided to give one (1) more chance. Big mistake, my wife was correct. Would rate at No stars. read more

We called Custom Golf Carts when our cart malfunctioned. We had purchased it from them initially. They picked it up and returned it the same day with an invoice for $159.75 for the installation of a new solenoid and labor. I paid the bill. The cart stayed in our garage overnight and was not driven. The next morning my husband hopped into the cart to go golfing and we experienced exactly the same problem as the previous day. When I called Rick, the owner, I will admit to being somewhat angry. But he was even more rude. When I asked for a refund he stated that there must be something else wrong with the cart, accusing me of somehow abusing it despite the fact it hadn't even been out of the garage and he was not going to refund our money and we were not longer clients of his and hung up. We had our older cart rebuilt by them, batteries, paint, new seats, new lights, directionals added basically rebuilt from the chassis up about 6 months ago. We have had a battery exploded (per them, not their fault), loose fuses and today some sort of electrical part under the seats go on fire! (Again not their issue) Per them, they do not replace wiring when they rebuild a cart. Poor customer service & not willing to work with customers once they have your money. We took a golf cart to them to sell for us (which was originally bought at Custom years before). I do not live in the state, so it was out-of-sight, out-of-mind, but when I'd visit the area, I'd stop in an inquire about the status of it. I was always told that it hadn't sold and they still had it. Time passes. Now another family member visits them for a status, bringing along the original paperwork, but Custom pleads that (big sigh) their old records had to be gone through, it was a long time ago (3yrs., max.) blah-blah-blah, any excuse to make us go away. Long story short, through multiple visits, multiple emails, scanned copies of the original paperwork on their letterhead (and in the wife's handwriting), we got absolutely nowhere. Even though we've given them copies of THEIR paperwork, they're trying to tell us we didn't bring it there. A third person has stepped in the help us handle this, with the exact results. Calls not returned, emails not answered, and argumentative when confronted face to face. If they sold it, we weren't notified or compensated. If it's on the lot, show us! If it's not, where is it??? Somehow it just vanished! Was it stolen? What? Not sure where to turn at this point, but maybe the Better Business Bureau would be a good place to go. Also, this is a crime against the elderly, as ultimately, my 88 year old mother is still waiting for an answer and for compensation. read more

Lier and a thief. Dropped a golf cart off on consignment a year ago, called a week in advance to let them know we would be picking it up on a Saturday. Upon arrival the owner had someone else cart outside to give me to pick up. When I informed him that wasn't the correct cart he stated he wasn't sure where it was and couldn't find it until Monday. He had sold three carts that week and maybe it was one of them, but he didn't know which ones he'd sold. After a 12 hour drive there, a uhaul rental to haul it back, and a 12 hour drive ahead of us to get home, I told him that was pretty messed up. He began threaten me and told me, "I wouldn't leave florida in the same state I came in." I left before doing something I would regret. Instead of at least offering reimbursement he offers to pay $3,000. Less than what it was worth. I would reccomend no one to go here and if I had a cart in consignment there I would attempt to pick it as soon as possible before he steals it as well. read more
