Ms. Emily has the biggest heart and is a complete natural at interacting with children so young. At the beginning of the session, when my daughter had just turned 2, she had a lot of trouble focusing on her teacher and following instructions - which I learned is completely okay. Over time, her ability to focus improved and she would look forward to her ballet and tap class every weekend. Her favorite part was when Ms. Emily would give a sticker or glitter at the end of class. I loved watching how happy she was in class and how much she talked about it afterwards. Sadly, due to the COVID situation, the studio has been closed for the last two months and our routine has been disrupted. We're really hopeful that the situation improves in Los Angeles and we can find a way to have the class back in a safe way. We can't wait to be back! P.S. Funny story.. I was SO excited to put my (then) 2 year old in a mommy & me ballet class that I read the class instructions very carefully... the dress code was fairly specific (a certain color leotard, tights, ballet slippers etc). So I thought the moms were supposed to dress up just like their daughters. First class ever, I showed up in full leotard and tights to dance with my girl! After that, I realized the moms come in regular clothes so I was careful to dress appropriately from then on. Just a tip for other moms enrolling in the mommy & me class!

With no prior dance experience, I found the environment supportive for individuals of all skill levels. I've completed three beginner series and felt my confidence and skills improve. I highly recommend taking the series more than once since the instructors try really hard to make each series different. There is so much to learn, so repetition is key! I also like that you get to dance with the instructors and get feedback, I don't believe other dance studios do this so this a huge plus. My instructors were David/Michelle and John/Sofia. AMAZING instructors, 10/10. Both partners are highly knowledgeable and explain technique in easy ways to understand. I enjoy the demo at the end of the class. Some great inspiration!! The instructors are extremely talented, kind, and do a great job managing both the young dancers and the parents. There are so many places you can enroll young girls for dance in West LA, but I think CCAB is a true ballet school; focusing on fundamentals and helping students who are really passionate about dance to grow! Michelle especially is an incredible business owner - she knows all of the students, all of the parents, manages two studios with two recitals twice a year and is extremely organized for all paperwork, billing, schedules, which we know isn't always the case for kid's activities.

We saw Sophie dance's old location while we were driving down Wilshire and it was history from there. My daughter tried out for their team and was very excited to join their family. She said she didn't feel the time while she was there. She actually begged to stay longer. Sophie dance isn't just a dance studio but they are a family. The staff there is very personable. They are not afraid to tell you the truth. Their teams are amazing. My daughter learned so much being part of their team. Unfortunately, this year they required more hours which we couldn't commit to but they will always be our first family. If your looking for something for your little dancer then I would definitely recommend this studio.

Hands down the finest dance class instruction I have ever experienced. I have taken classes in…read moretango, ballroom, swing, and salsa and I have never had the pleasure of working with an instructor who is so focussed on giving students such a solid foundation of technique. What Jose Espinoza teaches in a group setting is what most instructors save for private lessons. Not only that, but he actually follows a logical curriculum so that students progress incrementally from class to class. Each class begins with a review of what was learned in the previous class and then new elements are added in such a way as to build one skill upon another. As if this weren't enough of a reason to take these classes, Jose Espinoza is a master at putting his students at ease and making us all laugh while, in some magical way, still making it clear that what we are doing is a serious endeavor worthy of effort, concentration, and diligence. After being in the dance world off and on since 1985, I can safely say that there is no one out there who approches dance instruction the way that Jose does. And believe me, his approach is spectacularly effective.
