The parking is street parking, but it's free! Thank goodness. I got parking right in front of the salon. The inside of the place feels very comfy and cozy. Angela knew exactly how to do my hair based on the picture I had, but also recommended a better way to make it look based on my haircut. She is also such a great people person. She really makes you feel comfortable and it was very relaxing talking to her. In the end, my hair ended up looking very beautiful. I was extremely impressed with her craft. It was my first time so I just picked the first available which was Carli at the Mahwah location. Carli was super friendly and outgoing. I got the basic haircut deal but that comes with the warm cream shave around the edges which is what I was looking for. It came out better than anything I've gotten at those other places. The lady that cut my hair scoffed when I asked for a buzz cut, again when I asked to go shorter, and a third time when I asked for my sideburns to go to the top of my ear and my neck to be cleaned up. She left a big patch of hair on my left sideburn, and the left side of my head has significantly less hair than the rest of my head. She was more worried about watching "the price is right" on tv than paying attention to the person in her chair and cutting their hair. I give a slight edge to Damien in the skills department but you really can't go wrong with either. The location is large, very clean, and because it's in a strip mall, parking is a breeze. I'm not sure how things worked prior to COVID but they're currently only taking reservations (no walk-ins) and do not have a website. You can book online if you go through a link on their Instagram page though. My criticism is that i've experienced a number of places in NYC that for $20-25 you get the same quality haircut but also a hot towel and are offered a beer or shot while you wait. They have neither and were charging $30 when I got my first two cuts there. Their prices are now up to $40. There's a ton of independent barbers around Bergen county (and NYC) with excellent reviews that are still charging $25 for a great haircut. I typically get my haircut every 4-6 weeks so I can't justify a $40 haircut, especially at an average no-thrills barbershop.
