Found this spot while looking for seafood in this area. Upon entering, it took the staff about 3 minutes to finally greet us. My date and I opted to sit outside. The outdoor seating was very open but still had a very intimate feeling to it. Our server was friendly but a tad slow on service. I had the ribeye steak and my date ordered a shrimp po boy. My steak came with 1 side and a salad. I asked if I could substitute my salad for another side and was told it's not possible. (Not a huge deal, really). When my food arrived, the steak looked great but i've learned never to judge a book by its cover. The fries were definitely the highlight of my plate. The ribeye was undercooked and still raw in the center but that wasn't the worst part. The worst part was the seasoning of the steak. It tasted like it was just soaked it in soy sauce and that's it. Although I have know about Cuz's for a long time, this was actually my first visit to their location in Downtown Bay St. Louis along the historic beach. The basics: the location is fantastic with plenty of amenities aLl around, Cuz's is an open layout with plenty of table, booth, high-top, and bar seating (also pleasant outdoor seating). We were quickly seated and attended to by pleasant, polite, knowledgeable, and attentive staff. The menu is full of attractive and delicious local fare (seafood and Cajun fare). Being once a local, I found the menu easy to navigate. I chose a roast beef po-boy which I have not had in a very long time. One word- perfect! It was exactly what I remembered one to be, complete with gravy. My mom has the Shrimp and crab bisque and was very pleased (although she had hoped it had a slight more pepper). If you are looking for a pleasant atmosphere, good food, a cold beverage, I s strongly suggest this place. I would give it 5 stars but it can be a bit loud, most likely due to its open layout. We had an abnormally long wait (45 minutes) at lunch in a restaurant that was not busy. We had a child with us, so the wait was not easy. The waiter eventually told us they had a large to go order and were backed up, then began bringing out our order piecemeal. The boiled shrimp were overly salty and near impossible to peel, other than that the food was good. The were no apologies for the wait or anything. This place is family owned and operated. Cuz, the owner, comes around the dining room and makes sure everyone is happy. His wife and family also does the same. Looking for a light dinner so went to a recently new addition to Old Towne but a long time restaurant in the Bay. They operated for years on Hwy 603 in the Bay. Have enjoyed poboys and seafood here before and there food was as good as it had been during previous visits. My son had the roast beef poboy and I enjoyed the shrimp remoulade. Food was good. All I can say is that both our plates were empty when we left. Ronnie was our waitress and she welcomed us with a smile. She was attentive and did a great job. My husband and I decided to have a 4th of July weekend in Gulfport MS . About a year ago my husband co worker suggested that we try Trapani . Are goal was to go there so when we left on Friday afternoon we had a towards Trapani . I was very excited and when we got there we stood very patiently waiting there were tables available nobody's said can we help you nothing so my husband after 10 minutes just standing there said let's go they are other places to go. We had passed while walking to Trapani a restaurant called cuz they looked extremely busy but we still decided to go. We made a fabulous decision we immediately were seated and are waiter was so sweet we ordered the Royal red shrimp. I am from Louisiana and let me tell you those shrimp were phenomenal I highly recommend that if you go to Mississippi and you go to cuz get the Royal red. Had lunch at Cuz's today. Everything was really good except for my burger. The flavor was good but I asked for medium rare and what I got was well done and burned on both sides. My friend and I came here from New Orleans and got crawfish, bisque, and the red fish dip. Crawfish were good.. I could have used a little more salt and spice, but hey I'm from New Orleans so I'm a little spoiled. Would order again. The dip was delicious with some lemon and hot sauce! I could have just eaten that on a salad! Yummy! The bisque, however, tasted more like a gritty shrimp alfredo sauce than a soup. Honestly, not worth it. We came in from out of town so do some sightseeing and wanted to grab some dinner. We chose this place because the line seemed shorter than the other restaurants in the area. We now understand why. We got our name taken and the hostess told us it would about a 30 minute wait. Instead, we wait about an hour and a half for a table. During that wait, the rain started pretty badly and they offered to move a table under the overhang. While the gesture was accepted, unfortunately we were moved right next to where the rain was running off of the roof, as there is no gutter system. We kept waiting, and waiting, and even started to look at other places to eat. Finally we get a table and menus. We ordered drinks, 2 beers and a "signature cocktail", a blueberry lemon drop martini. All were room temperature, very unpleasant. Our waitress came to take our order and gave us a play by play of every move she was making. She was also very upfront about messing up the drinks, putting in our appetizer wrong, and putting our entrees in wrong as well. We asked for tartar sauce for our seafood, and she brought out ranch dressing instead. She asked if everything was okay, we gave have hearted head nods because frankly, we were just ready to leave. We got 3 appetizers, very small portions for the price, and they all came out about 5 minutes apart from each other. We finally get entrees, only half of the order is ready and she has to go back and wait for the rest to be made. Again, she put the food in wrong so some of the meals that were ordered, came out in a way we weren't expecting. Only 2 of us were done eating when she came and dropped off the bill, after the accepted payment, she was done waiting on us. Meanwhile, the rest of us are still trying to finish eating. We finish and decide we're just ready to leave. All in all, the prices were NOT worth it for the food and service. Also, one last thing to add, across the small room we were seated in, was an employee sitting at a table, eating Taco Bell, and staring at us the entire time. It was very uncomfortable and very rude. I travel a lot for work and fun and I've eaten at world class restaurants around the globe, our waitress Jennifer was as good as any waitstaff I've ever had anywhere. She was knowledgeable about their menu, specials, beers, etc. She anticipated everything we might need, she was fast, attentive, genuinely engaged and best of all, pleasant. Wish they could clone her and make her my waitress in every restaurant I go in. Yeah, she was that good. Sit inside or on the patio, order anything you want (everything we got was good). A friend & I came a few weeks ago & it was delicious. We had raw, chargrilled oysters & frickles. It was so good I brought a friend on Good Friday to have chargrilled oysters. Again great!! I brought my husband to have the chargrilled oysters on Saturday. I was embarrassed, humiliated, & felt awful for driving 43 mi. one way for this experience. The chargrilled oysters were HORRIBLE!! Burnt beyond nasty. Tried to eat one it was so badly overcooked. Husband tried, bless his heart, we sent 1/2 back, chef did no better & had put one overcooked one in with the few replacements we received. Not even a whole new tray. Which tells me they do not care!!! Oh the French bread served with the oysters was great the first 2 times. How do you screw up the bread? No butter not grilled just plain warmed bread. Done with Cuzs!!! Too many other places to get better ones like Keg & Barrel in Ocean Springs. The couple next to us were from LA & family has oyster business. They were disgusted at our tray & the length of time to get their food, which they ordered before us. I doubt they or any of us will be back. read more
