While I understand that insurance limitations may impact billing, I explicitly offered to pay out of pocket for my prescriptions. Despite this, the pharmacist declined to dispense the medications. This is deeply concerning for several reasons: * These medications are medically necessary and prescribed by my provider. * I was willing to assume full financial responsibility. * This location is the only pharmacy in my community that reliably stocks these medications. Refusing to dispense a valid prescription--even when a patient is willing to pay out of pocket--creates a significant barrier to care and raises concerns about patient safety, access, and continuity of care. Access to prescribed medication should not be restricted in this manner.

They hung up on our doctor's office as they tried to correct. They lied to us about the prescription being ready the next day at 11 "we just say that if a prescription is on hold," we were told. They blamed our doctor and our insurer for their mistake and put us through two days and hours of effort to correc their mistake. Only after we got CVS corporate involved, which can actually get a real person to answer the phone as opposed to only VM's that customers are offered and have a low percentage of calls returned, did the rude, stubborn staff do what all of us had been asking. The most frustrating service and poor treatment. Will do everything possible to avoid and always go to Notre Dame Pharmacy. Our doctor's office is also advising against having prescriptions filled here because of numerous bad experiences.

After another frustrating experience with CVS I was reminded again of what a well-run, trustworthy,…read morecustomer-service-focused business that Notre Dame Pharmacy is. They have taken great care of our family for years and are nothing but efficient, supportive, there to answer questions, affordable, quick and reliable - all the things that CVS isn't. We will be sure that our doctors don't mistakenly send RXs to CVS again. The recent issue with CVS points to what a difference there is between community and corporate pharmacies. Notre Dame takes care of customers like family - the opposite of corporate CVS, which makes it nearly impossible to talk to someone by phone and in our case hung up on our doctor's office as they tried to explain the how to correct the mistake CVS pharmacy had made. I have no doubt Notre Dame would never employ such unprofessional, uncaring people. Can't recommend Notre Dame Pharmacy enough.

I went to PharMor because the Rite Aid down the block didn't carry peak flow meters (a home device used to monitor daily asthma). I knew this place existed and it carried medical supplies. That's how I met Sammi, Chief Pharmacist, of this particular PharMor Pharmacy (which is a Detroit owned independent pharmacy). Let me explain: despite living very close two both a CVS and a Rite Aid BOTH do not seem to have the meds I need in stock all the time. Which is shocking, or ought to be shocking. One day, I ran out of medications and I went down Woodward stopping at nearly every CVS/Rite Aid to get a perscription filled. The closest pharmacy that would consistently have the medications I needed? Yeah, the CVS on 13 mile and Woodward (so, about 13 miles from where I live). And CVS was charging me my first born to fill my scripts (more than $100). Side note: has anyone felt like they only build CVS and Rite Aids anymore? They are everywhere! One one every block, and more coming! I told Sammi this sad story. He looks a little shocked, but asks what meds I needed regularly that I couldn't find in Detroit. I told him and one by one, he shows me that yes, they actually really do carry my meds. I also lamented that I was in between insurances and I couldn't pay out of pocket $100+ despite the fact I needed my prescription refilled. Sammi said no problem, $30. My jaw dropped to the floor, folks. I thought he was totally pulling my leg. Teasing me to come in and get the script refilled by him. Sure enough a day later, and just as broke, I came back to have my prescription filled -- he was true to his word and charged me only $30. I seriously almost cried. I never ever had someone go out of their way at a pharmacy to help me out before. I have never been treated with so much respect from the pharmacy staff. I never thought I would go to an independent pharmacy! *AND* I never thought an independent pharmacy would be cheaper than CVS (it just never occurred to me that different places could charge a different amount for the same drug). The pros of going to PharMor over CVS or Rite Aid: - because of it's independence the pharmacist can and WILL find a way to make your prescriptions affordable - they have a great referral program (refer a friend, get $25 off) - they have almost any med you would need in stock - their generics aren't "crap" generics (there is a debating difference between generic manufacturers) - you are supporting a local business and what I thought was for sure dead: local pharmacies - you won't get told "oh, it'll be 15 minutes" and it ends up being a half an hour -- they will fill it in 10 minutes or less - although not 24 hours, they ARE open on Saturday (open, on a Saturday? In Detroit?! Whoa.) - you can email your pharmacist (just look them up on the website) I'm quite sure Sammi is just as good of a business man as he is a pharmacist -- because I'm hooked. No more long hauls up Woodward just to get my scripts filled. Salvation! There's more than the 1 location that I am writing about, there are quite a few surrounding the DMC -- and several more out in the suburbs: http://mypharmor.com/My_PharMor/Locations.html
