They have never answered the phone for me. I've called 3 times and waited 15 mins all three times. Absolutely wild.

I've never had a problem with the pharmacy here and I always had my order ready when I called it in to see if it was there and ready.

I used East Side Prescription Shop for the first time today. I remember passing by it probably…read morethousands of times as a kid. My parents might have used it back then, but I don't remember. A prescription I needed urgently was called into another pharmacy this morning. Rather than ride there to pay and pick it up, I gave East Side Prescription Shop a call to see what could be arranged. The phone was answered right away by an actual person. The pharmacy tech was a nice man who entered my information into his computer, called the other pharmacy, and called me back in less than an hour. They had transferred my prescription and filled it. They even took my payment over the phone. This was something the other pharmacy was not willing to do. The tech told me that his delivery man was standing right there and that my medicine would be on the way shortly. I don't remember exactly how long it took to arrive, but it was here within 20-30 minutes from what I recall. Delivery was free and executed by a happy smiling man. It was nice to deal with kind people as sick as I feel. I didn't feel like another number in a long queue like I do at the currently available chain pharmacies. I have yet to see the inside, and I'm not sure if they have a drive-thru. The downside is that they are not open on Sunday and close by 2 PM on Saturday. So, this shop won't fit needs in the middle of the night or most of the weekend. But, I would certainly use this shop again because of the quick and kind service along with the delivery they offer. I'm not sure what the delivery area is, but what a relief to have that option where I am! They made me feel like I went back in time to when customers and patients mattered and when businesses were smaller and more comfortable.

I've been trying to be better about reviewing businesses that are actually in what I consider to be…read moremy neighborhood, though I'm actually a wee bit south of this Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market at what is really 56th & Emerson. I honestly thought I'd reviewed this Wal-Mart, but as I stopped by on Yelp to check out my previous review I realized that this now nearly 10-year-old location had not been reviewed. If you know the Neighborhood Market concept, you know what to expect. This is essentially a neighborhood grocery store, a replacement for the former O'Malia's that had long been in this spot. Trust me, I miss O'Malia's. When the Neighborhood Market first came in, I visited on a semi-regular basis. It was nice to have a grocery option actually in the neighborhood. I mean, sure, it was "Walmart," but I could tolerate it for low prices. This location offers a pharmacy (including drive-up), bakery, liquor, deli, and grocery. Yes, you can have Walmart items shipped to this location. It also allows you to avoid the Supercenter at 73rd and Keystone. As is true of most Walmart locations, accessible parking is somewhat plentiful and the doors are automatic. Since moving in, they've added some gating inside to handle crowd management and to discourage shoplifting (which, let's be honest, is fairly prevalent in this neighborhood. I admit it. I live in a fairly rough area). This Walmart is in a very transitional neighborhood - you're within minutes of both extremely rough areas and very nice areas. For the most part, we all peacefully co-exist. However, keep in mind that this is also the same corner where a Dollar General employee was shot to death and where a Speedway employee shot a shoplifter. However, it's also down the street from Cathedral High School, Fatima Retreat Center, and some pretty decent restaurants. Okay, this Walmart. I was eating dinner at a nearby restaurant and needed 4-5 items. I wheeled over to Walmart. I encountered arguing customers. I entered and snagged a cart - they don't have the smaller carts (easier for wheelchair users), but I do believe they have motorized carts. The aisles are reasonably spaced, though were fairly crowded between people and stocking. One employee dramatically moved a stocking cart around me and promptly dropped a couple items (he had plenty of room and was just being dramatic). Items here tend to be fairly fresh, though the store has always had a bit of a worn out feeling - even early on after it moved in. In the early days, you could get decent counter service and cash registers. I mean, sure, the cashiers were hit-or-miss, but there was service. Now, everything is self check-out (which I despise and which is NOT disability friendly). I mean, you have employees actually watching the check-out. Why not have one register open? Essentially, they're paying people to watch checkout like they're actually going to do anything if someone tries to steal. Plus, the employee who directs things seemed to have no clue what was actually going on. I was directed to a register that already had someone. I saw this happen more than once. Weird. That said, I suppose at least I provided myself friendly customer service. This was a weird, icky experience. The prices are pretty decent - I got a 12-pack of Celsius energy drinks for a bit over $17 - four to five dollars less than most places. That was nice. However, I can't imagine going out of my way for this experience as the facility wasn't wheelchair friendly, the employees weren't close to friendly, and there's a tension in this Walmart that is palpable. I might return to pick up an item or two, however, for me it's more than worth it to drive a bit further and check out Meijer or Target - and yes, despite modestly higher prices the more pleasing shopping atmosphere and vastly better customer service is worth it. This visit to Walmart reminded me why I very seldom go to Walmart anymore.
