Meijer, in general, doesn't sit well with me, but this one is aiight. It's organized and clean, but someone needs to work with Meijer management on adopting new lighting, because the stores always feel bleak. One place that doesn't feel bleak in this store is the marketplace area. This is where you'll find groceries like fresh fruits and vegetables, bread, bakery goodies and grab-and-go meals. The lighting here is nice and warm, in case you were wondering. They have multiple self-checkout machines, so checkout was very quick and easy. The parking lot was also nice. read more

We've been shopping here at this location since 2011 once Sams Club on Washington street closed and the Walmart on E Washington street did a redesign and when you would ask any of the Walmart employees where something was located they acted as if they had an attitude so we took our dollars to Meijer and boy are we glad we did! Some of the employees are like family now because they see us more at least 3x a week. From Cyd one of favorite cashiers to Ms Rose & Ms Roberta our favorite greeters just to name a few and our always favorite pharmacy staff! After staying away from meijers for many months because of several problems they did not care about, the final straw then was when i was forced to do self check out, 3 items in my cart, but before i was able to get to the door after paying, i was stopped and the lady demanded my receipt to make certain i had not stolen anything. Today, i stopped by again, one item i picked up was hamberger 80/20 on special, 1.06 lbs per the label, when i arrived home i weighted the meat, only the meat, ot weighed slightly over 15 oz, almost 2 oz short. The African-American woman working the customer service counter is extremely rude and shouldn't be interacting with customers AT ALL! I came in just now to collect my Flashfood order following the directions given in the app. When I approached the counter to check-out, I smiled and said, "Hello, I'm checking out my Flashfood order!" To which she replied with a blank stare, "did you get that yourself?" I said "yes" and she responds, 'Well, you're not supposed to!" I explained to her that other stores allowed me to and I followed the instructions in the app. She continued repeating herself and stated that the fridge was supposed to be locked. Well, it wasn't! She asked for my name and bagged the food while telling her coworker that the fridge wasn't locked. She then pushed the bags towards me and walked off. No thank you... no have a nice day... nothing. That was trash customer service. She went directly to the fridge and locked it. Good for her... guarding the nearly expired food like it's her life's greatest work! I paid for it, why can't I retrieve it?! This location doesn't have to worry about seeing me ever again! So I don't get to get out to this Meijer very often but I always love it when I do because you never know what you're going to find in this store. It is pretty far from my house so typically I shop at Walmart or Kroger for my groceries. I have found every time that I go to this Meijer they have a good sale on a couple of meat items and this time it was pork butt for $0.99 a pound. It does seem that they are a little higher priced on consumable goods like paper towel and toilet paper. I like their selection of veggies much better than I like Walmart stop beginning the new year with a diet I was looking for veggies to help fill out the week. Easy to order on their app and of course they know your purchase habits so the items pop up for easy re ordering. Nice clean store with complimenting associates as well. I tried Meijer pickup. That was a big mistake. I arrived at the store to pick up my order during the reserved time slot. I was told my order was not ready and that I needed to go home and wait for an email! I told the woman that I was surprised that I had not gotten a confirmation that my order was ready, but I had planned to pick this up at this time because I was out that way for another appointment just before the pickup time. I explained that it was a long drive home. She yelled at me and blamed me for the problem! She said I should have called. However, when I called earlier, nobody answered! When I finally got my order after waiting a half hour, it contained substitutions that I did not want and would not use. I called customer service. I was told their application defaults to substituting whatever they want when something is out of stock. I told them that nobody told me there were substitutions in my order, and there was no opportunity to refuse what they chose. They said I should have been notified about the substitutions, but they thought I should have known I needed to go into my profile to change the setting that allowed them to substitute different items for what I ordered! They did not offer a refund, return, or apology. read more

I purchased approximately 900 dollars worth of gift cards on December 21st. I found out the funds had been stolen off one of the gift cards and used online. I contacted the store manager and informed them. I was told to contact the number on the back of the gift card. I contacted the store again and sent in a customer service email about my situation and I was told to bring my receipt and the gift card. I received a refund I am so glad to have the money back. I will never purchase another gift card. I don't know how the card was compromised. The gift cards are out in the open and if Meijer had not of owned up and refunded my money. would have been stuck. The visa company is being deceptive. They told me it will be 30 to 90 days for the investigation and they will contact me every ten days via email. I will never shop at this store again. Was in parking lot trying to leave the store and asked the employee who was gathering shopping carts if he could move them so we could leave. He responded "Can you drive?" Then I got out of the car and said , excuse me but we are your customers. Then he ran up to me and said, "You don't get out of your car and into my face. I'm 17!" I responded "and I'm 67, so?" Then he said , "I get it, you're old, nigga!" Then my partner got out of the car and said "who are you calling nigga?" Over the last 2 months, they've updated and CLEANED up the store significantly. Prior to that it was not that great - maybe short staffing because of COVID, but I hated going there. But now - I don't know if its the updates - which are very nice by the way, or a staff change but everyone has been super friendly and happy to help. They have new self-checkout kiosks that work well and there are many more of them than in the past. The carts are all disinfected when you come in, too. I hope the new look and helpfulness continue - it is really the only option in this area of town. The only negative is in the past, the pharmacy staff were slow and not particularly cheerful. Since Marsh went out of business, making Irvington a near food desert, this store has been my main go-to for grocery shopping. As grocery stores go, it has a good selection of food, as well as a dry-goods half that is effectively a decent substitute for a Wal-Mart or K-Mart. The butcher counter has reasonable prices on fresh cuts of meat (though of course it can't beat Aldi's prices there). The alcohol section has a pretty good selection of beers, wines, and liquors. There's even a decent foreign food aisle--it's no Cost Plus World Market, but you can usually find at least a few favorites there, such as Bamba peanut puffs. I didn't have too much luck with grocery delivery or pickup when I tried ordering them a few months back. I got delivery once, got pickup once, but most of the time I tried, there simply weren't any available time slots for the entire week. It's possible they may have improved their service in that regard now, but I haven't tried it lately. But the thing that really makes Meijer a cut above other grocery stores is its full-service mobile shopping app, which I keep on my Android phone. This app lets me use my phone's camera to scan the bar codes of goods as I load up my cart, and then scan a QR code at the self-checkout station to transfer my purchases. The attendant comes over to scan three items from my cart to verify the purchase, then I can pay for the goods there. I can bag my own groceries in reusable grocery bags as I shop, and only have to take a couple of minutes to check out and then I'm out the door. I can even buy booze that way; the self-check attendee just has to verify my ID, but they have to come over to confirm my purchase anyway. Of course, at the moment their self-checkouts can only accept credit card payments due to the COVID-caused cash shortage, so that may be a dealbreaker for some, but I use my debit card for preference anyway. The app also lets me shop remotely for pickup or delivery, or build a shopping list by scanning items or searching the grocery selection. It keeps track of my receipts from past trips, so I never have to worry about not being able to find the ticket when I need to return something. And, of course, it has my Meijer loyalty card account built right into it. I think it's a marvelous innovation, and lets me get out of the store FAST when I'm done with my shopping. I don't know about other Meijer stores, but Meijer's on East 96th Street in Fishers is pretty sad. the food quality is bad, and the prices are high. I bought some fresh greens, and they were totally infested with bugs. I called and spoke to the manager, and he was non-chalant about it. I really don't like to shop. When the experience is bad, it makes it just that much worse! Today, I just stopped in for some work gloves. The entire display was in disarray. I couldn't figure out which glove went with which tags. The nearby price scanner did not work. There was nobody around to help me out. I ended up taking several of them to the front counter and asked to price check all of them before I made a decision. I've been shopping at this Meijer for 20 years now. There have been seasons when we've had good service, and there have been seasons when it's been poorly run. I experienced something while I was in the store yesterday, and how a customer was trying to handle it (looked appropriate to me), and the management appeared to do a poor job of addressing it. A small, older woman was making her way through the self check out line, and another woman ran her cart up onto the older woman's feet. The older woman let the first incident go. But then the woman behind her did the same thing again. The older woman turned around and asked the woman behind her to please back up. I couldn't hear everything, but I did hear the aggressive woman tell the older woman she needed to move faster. The older woman turned away, and started to move forward. But the aggressive woman moved forward again and ran her cart into the older woman once more. A third time. The older woman finally had enough. She turned around and told the aggressive woman very directly to please back up, and give her space. After that, the older woman moved to a checkout station, but I did see later she was speaking to store management. It was clear she was telling them what happened. It looked like a store employ (in a plaid shirt) was giving the older woman a hard time. He looked uninterested and annoyed. I never saw anyone go over and speak to the aggressive woman, and she eventually left with a smirk on her face. I'm not sure how the situation ended because I left, but it was concerning. The older woman was just walking in line. This location is in an elevated crime area, so the store does need to take responsibility for the safety of it customers. read more

Ah the Cumberland Meijer. Well, it's a Meijer so it has pretty much everything you would need at decent prices. Their beer. wine and vegetable selection as improved over the years. I recommend not going directly after work as this seems to be when every person in the world goes shopping. Plenty of parking and easy to get in and out of (when washington st isn't under construction). Beware of seniors day as they like to walk 3 wide at .0002 mph. Meijer has had a bad rap for quite some time out on our side of town. It's truly a shame because it's not the stores fault. There are some apartments across the street that are low income and theft is high. Like all stores the employees are not allowed to touch them and they know it. There is a new manager who is trying to clean things up and put some measures in place to slow down the theft. It is improving and so is the condition of the store. I truly give it a two. Customer Service/ Cashiers are not friendly, non helpful. There are too many lines dedicated to checking out your own items with no belt, for your food and purchases to go down. One person runs 12+ lanes, and it is super busy in mornings, with no cashiers. It is becoming more and more like Walmart as far as help goes, when cashier's finally start showing up after Seven a.m. I usually spend 2-3 hundred there weekly. But as of yesterday I've officially had enough of the facility 6/12/23. Elderly lady Sylvia at 1:54 was the rudest person I've ever have cash me out. As she moved the spinner my way I grabbed my bag, she threw the biggest rant in front of all customers, she then proceeded to jump back and forth with my bags, never allowing me to pick another one up until I after I paid. She places all my groceries mismatch over flowing and tearing and shouted I hurt her hand when I grabbed the first bag. She was quite embarrassing and humiliating when I knew she was no where near the spindle she seemed to know she could get by with her devilish behavior because management never bothered to respond. This Meijer has gone downhill a lot since I was a kid. My biggest complaint is that majority of items don't seem to get restocked. I'm not sure if lack of staff prevents inventory upkeep, but I've been back on multiple occasions without discovering restock on several personal items. I did purchase somewhere else, but... the fact that I'll come back weeks later & check out of curiosity... just to discover something is STILL out of stock... is a little annoying. Another concern is the lack of organization throughout the store, as well as the sections completely missing in frozen foods. There's no frozen breakfast area that I've discovered. This Meijer could stand a revamp... and inventory management & maintenance in areas by employees... A big saving grace is random clearance areas with good finds. This Meijer is closest to our home so we tend to come here more often. The pharmacy has a convenient drive thru although sometimes awkward to get into. Store is usually clean & stockers are mindful of where they place pallets so as not to be in customer way. My fave time to come is before 10 am because that is when staff marks down the close dated fresh foods in bakery, produce and deli areas. read more
