Staff was friendly - even during odd hours of the night - "You have no toiletries?" (Clearly she knew we were tourists.) We explained the whole missing bags thing to clear that up. They had everything we needed - clothes included - because who knows how long before our bags get delivered! Prices were reasonable - none of the tourists rates some places charge. What made it better is that it was only a couple of blocks away from our hotel. We returned a couple more times during the week for more basic stuff - mostly snacks, water and other rehydrating drinks. What I mostly appreciated is how conveniently located it is. In the situation we were in, we were grateful for it being where it is!

It was heavenly. 12+ years later, the menu only said "fish" poboy sandwich. If you're a catfish purist like myself, that's a red flag, so I went with the fried chicken. My wife ordered the Philly cheesesteak sandwich despite the geographical incongruity. Both were outstanding, and I can't recommend the kitchen enough.

On our road trip back from NYC to LA, the only place we stopped at in New Orleans was this spot again. It can't top the time we got it fresh, but if there's anywhere you have to stop by in New Orleans, I gotta say it's this unassuming gas station with the most gas fried chicken.

I also got Chobani drinkable yogurt, a container of fresh fruit chunks, 2 bags of chips, 2 candy bars, 2 snack cakes and a bag of Tate's chocolate chip cookies - total was $54. The woman working there let me pile my stuff on a section of the counter as I explored the store. We had a pleasant conversation as she rang up my items. She mentioned they had just opened another store and named off all the locations. My fruit container was really good, perfectly ripe - 3 kinds of melon, grapes and strawberries. During the first week of January, my lifelong friend visited Plush Appeal to purchase Mardi Gras decor for her out of state home. We are natives of New Orleans and were raised with the proper etiquette and respect for ourselves, others and community. We are proud graduates of an affluent Catholic high school and our class of women has made quite a positive impact in this world collectively. With that said, as my friend was shopping she interacted with one of the sales associates and had a lovely conversation. This particular sales associate then left the area. Within minutes two other sales associates approached my friend, accused her of stealing, and when my friend attempted to clear her name and prove her innocence, these women refused. They stated she was on camera and despite my friend asking multiple times for proof and to view the cameras, she was again refused her request. Apparently, two large men were then instructed to escort her out to which she stated she felt extremely uncomfortable. Several of her friends have reached out to the store. Ms. Vee was so nice! CeeCee though ... the manager... when I called to ask for clarification she became nasty and hung up. Long story short, nothing was stolen. If that were the case why not call the police or show the video? Most importantly to note are the differences in skin tones. My friend is an upper class African American female who was seemingly targeted for the color of her skin. Take your business elsewhere!
