I recently popped in for some OTC cold medication and had no issue locating or picking it up, as the medicine aisles were well stocked and organized. However, I decided to grab a few snacks and some Gatorade while I was at it and you would have thought you just left one store and entered another. The food/drink area was minimally stocked with many empty spots and the items that were in place were haphazardly on the shelves. No one had clearly paid attention to this area of the store for a few shifts. Service was "meh" honestly. Due to the disorganization of the snacks, I asked for a price check on an item and was given attitude along with the price. I continued my check out and she didn't speak anything additional outside of my total. I do not expect above and beyond service, but come on... Overall, my experience at this location is mirror to many other Walgreens around the area, so I take it is more representative of the brand itself than the location. I at least know what to expect, but I do feel that my business is better served at the other pharmacy chain...

However, today's encounter was unacceptable. When I arrived, the drive-through window was closed, which resulted in one of the longest lines I have seen inside the store. After waiting patiently, I was finally assisted by an associate pharmacist, Isabel, who was reviewing my card information. After doing so, she instructed me to step out of line and return behind another gentleman who was originally behind me, rather than simply allowing me to remain at the counter or rejoin as the next customer. I politely asked the gentleman if he would mind allowing me to step back in front of him since I had already been at the counter. He graciously agreed. However, when I returned to the counter, the associate had not provided my prescription to the cashier. I explained that she had already quoted me the price and I was ready to pay. She then responded in a very sharp and dismissive tone, stating that she had "told" me to wait behind the other gentleman. I was taken aback. I calmly explained that I believed the prescription was ready, since I had already been given the total and the medication was visibly bagged and labeled. At that point, a manager intervened and reiterated--also in a curt tone--that it was not ready and that I would need to wait behind the gentleman as previously instructed. I then asked how long the wait would be, explaining that I had an appointment to attend. I was told it would be "about five minutes." I ultimately had to notify my client that I would be delayed because I was waiting for medication that appeared to be prepared and ready for purchase. The tone, lack of courtesy, and unnecessary rigidity in handling this situation were extremely disappointing. What could have been resolved in a matter of seconds became an uncomfortable and avoidable interaction. Customers should be treated with professionalism and respect, especially after waiting in a long line. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, as this experience did not reflect the level of service I have come to expect from this location.
