We're visiting the quaint hamlet of Pulaski Tennessee on this late spring Saturday. Pulaski is home…read moreof the world renowned Sun Drop Festival, and also home to other unsavory happenings back in the 1800s, but we're beyond that I'm hoping. The happenings on this day were of a more civil nature and consisted of a number of fair vendors setting up shop around the historic town square. Reeves Drugstore is housed in a string of old brick buildings that also line the square. Its charm is old school from the get-go. When I opened their front door and stepped in, it was like stepping back into my childhood. Immediately, I thought, dang, we had one of these in our downtown. In fact, three! Newberrys, Thrifty, and Woolworth. All had lunch counters, and all served up tasty food offerings just like Reeves. Reeves also has an ice cream counter. $1.75 for a scoop! If you're lucky, you'll get the young lady who scooped up ours. She packs it into the base of the cone before putting a generous scoop on top. My Butter Pecan cone was solid. There were plenty of pecans mixed in. Some in every bite. We didn't need any drugs on this visit. We were pretty high from the Sun Drop soda, Sun Drop cake, freeze-dried gummy bears, and of course, ice cream. But if you're in need of some kind of pill, tincture, or sundry, you'll be in good hands at Reeves. Quick Tip: The folks who work at Reeves are honest, hard-working townspeople. Polite as can be. If you're in need of some sincere southern hospitality, they'll give it by the bushel. Please give them your business, and reward them with a smile.

If you are not in the need of a national chain for so-called convenience I would suggest using the locally owned small business "Reeves Drug Store" or give CVS a try. I had to transfer several prescriptions from my compounding pharmacy in Virginia and they took care of everything! That's was great, but wait there's more! After confirming it in stock, I told the pharmacist that I had to call my pharmacy and transfer it to sure save. He said "I can take care of that for you so you don't have to worry about it." So here's the thing. He didn't have to do that. He took it the extra step and completely exceeded my expectations. Arriving ten minutes before my appointment there was a loooong line at the pharmacy. The special garage door for COVID Vaccines was closed with signage indicating ask at the pharmacy desk for FREE take home tests. No thanks. I waited in the line behind six others who were there for a variety of things, most picking up prescriptions. Fifteen minutes later I made it to the front. There was a bit of confusion as to whether I needed additional paperwork (I competed it in the app). I was sent to have a seat and wait. Seven seats and they were all taken, so I stood. I have no problem with standing--I'm merely pointing out that they were oversubscribed. I was called back up and given...paperwork. Why would I spend time in the online system to "expedite" my visit..,only ti do it manually at the pharmacy? Furthermore, why would I fill out the same Vaccine Administration Record questionnaire for each shot? Then there was an employee shift change. Evidentially the app allowed me and some others to schedule at this awkward time. I waited for a full hour after my appointment. Each time there was an immunization the person administering it would lock up and disappear for a cigg break or something for 10 minutes. Must be unionized. I would have left, but they had my immunization record and I don't feel like recreating that. This place stinks to get in and out of, and frankly I avoid it because of that. I wouldn't be here tonight if they had not offered me an appointment. Bottom line--save yourself the frustration and an evening. Go to Walmart for your vaccines. Most certainly avoid this Walgreens.

I ask what time should I come by tomorrow. "I don't know." I get they are overworked but do better. Also it's the day before a holiday. Of course you're gonna be busy with people going out of town.
