After over three months of requesting an invoice, proof of the work completed, and a refund for unused money, I had to involve legal counsel just to obtain the invoice. She included items in it I did not agree to have her do and for which she did not provide a professional report or meaningful explanation. Months after I had requested an invoice and stopped any inquiry about the case, she mentioned a 'file,' which at that point clearly would have had no value. After over two months of not providing the invoice, she included statements in an email that I am certain I never made and attributed them to me. Based on those statements, she then concluded she was worried about my mental health. When my lawyer contacted her about the invoice and asked if she had legal representation--she responded she didn't have one--she chose not to pursue getting a restraining order against me. I think this can be seen as an attempt to damage a client's reputation, no matter how baseless and entirely preposterous the statements are. Later, she asked my lawyer if they had looked me up. I was uncomfortable with how my personal information was handled and felt it was far from how I expected it to be used. If others encounter similar concerns, they may consider contacting the appropriate licensing authorities.
