She is very attentive to her guests and that girl never stops moving! I took my mother here for her birthday. I've been twice, with my most recent visit being on Valentines 's Day in 2024 with my spouse. This was my mother's first time. They must have a new chef because the food was horrible. My mother's food came out with raw bacon and tough chicken. I asked for a filet cooked medium, butterflied, sweet potato soufflé and broccoli au gratin. My steak was unseasoned, overcooked and not butterflied. My sweet potato soufflé was burnt. I hadn't eaten all day so I managed to get as much down as I could to keep from starving. My mother sent her food back and didn't order anything else. The only thing that was good was my salad. The service from our waiter was pretty good however. Please bring back the old chef because the food is nothing like it was back in 2024. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Had a reservation at the steak house at 7:30. Waitress seemed nice but stated "she only worked there" and was gonna do the best she could to serve us. (Which seemed kinda weird to say to customers). We got our food at 9:30 without the salads that came with our meal. Asked for them and they brought them eventually and stated they would comp us for our appetizer (one appetizer that was fries green beans for $11) they also said they would give us a free desert because of the excessive wait for our food. We did not get free deserts, the restaurant was about to close. one of the staff/ waiters stated again that the manager was gonna comp part of our ticket but that she had just sat down to eat her steak (also kinda weird) by 10:00 we finally got our ticket only to realize we had been charged $40 for two martinis and martinis are priced at $14 a piece. Staff argued back and forth in front of us as to who was going to print the updated tickets. I told the waitress I had surgery the previous day and just really wanted to go home at this point and if someone, anyone in the restaurant could just give us a ticket so we could pay our bill and leave. From what we could gather, understaffed is an understatement and most staff seemed annoyed with either their duties or the customers. Needless to say, after eating at the steakhouse for several years, and coming to McClain/cypress pointe for several years, this may have been our last time. read more

They said the new owners make them sell meat past their expiration date and any meats that get dropped on the floor get washed off and sold. I've been twice now and while it is a very strange setup it is an excellent experience! My first visit was to have dinner with a large group of friends. We were there for the steak and mistakenly sat in the buffet restaurant not realizing there was more than one place to eat. The waitress offered to reseat us or we could stay where we were and order from either the steak house or use the buffet. My wife had the buffet and I had the steak. All of which was excellent. I can heartily recommend the food. I want to skip the foodstuff and move to the service. Excellent. We thought it would be funny to try to convince our wives that we had bought a WHOLE wheel of cheese and the let us borrow a couple to carry back to the table. It was a hell of a lot funnier to me and my partner than it was you our wives! Great service, great people, and a lot of fun! Update: we returned for the Easter event and had a blast! The animal kingdom is coming soon to Brandon! This place is not only a restaurant, they'll have a steakhouse, a butcher shop, petting zoo, safari, tavern, event center, chapel?! You name it, they got it! We came by a little after 2pm, they offer the regular menu starting at 10:30am to 10pm, but the buffet is until 2:30pm. One of the managers by the name of Chris came by and said if we'd like to do the buffet, they'll leave it on the line for us, how nice is that? After I saw all the veggies, I was instantly sold on the buffet. (Seafood offered on weekends) The buffet is $12 and that includes drinks, dessert and the salad bar. The options were minimal, but what we had were all good. My favorite thing on the buffet line was the pot roast! It was tender, it fell apart when I sank my fork into it, it was PERFECT. My unicorn plate consisted of pot roast, creamy lima beans and whipped yams!! Winner! Winner! Pot roast dinner! The fried pork chop and chicken was crispy, the breading and seasoning was just right. I can only imagine how delicious this would be fresh out of the fryer. Did I mention the desserts made in house?! The place is HUGE, great for big dinner parties. Absolutely kid friendly, it even got this adult giddy with all the animals and tavern. They also have an outdoor patio seating that looks over the safari. I think I'm going to have to fight some kids for a spot out in the patio . All in all our service was great, the food was delicious, and I will be back for their grand opening all Memorial weekend May 26th. This place has gotten worse every time we go there. What really did it this week was the fact they snuck in an 18% service charge because we had 6 people at the table. Of course they didn't tell you this until I went back to the register and asked for explanation of why breakfast for 2 adults and a 4 year old, plus only 1 drink cost $45. This is not a good restaurant that takes your order, delivers it etc when then you may expect an automatic surcharge. Even then, it is well documented and not charged without ever seeing it. Grease pit, food is burned, poor service--if you want to call bringing you a glass of water is service. Go somewhere else unless you are going to just to see the animals. Do not eat here. This venue gets 5 stars just because it is everything that it is! The buffet is really good - fried fish, fried chicken, well-seasoned veggies, cumback salad dressing on the salad bar, excellent pies and banana pudding for dessert. Yummy. Steakhouse is superb. The food is as good as I have had anywhere in Jackson, including Ely's and Shapleys. My favorite bartender, Robert, is unparalleled. The music in the bar can range from OK ( ? ) to Excellent ( Barry Leach. ) Picked up some steaks and pimento cheese from the Butcher Shop on the way out. When we said no we were asked if we wanted buffet. We did not , we wanted Steakhouse - we were directed to Tavern. While we could get the steakhouse menu in the Tavern, the wait staff acted as if we were an inconvenience. The food : the Seafood stack was not adequately described, therefore I can't say if it was good or bad, just different. Steak - overcooked and not seasoned. The lunch buffet has a great variety of salad options, good variety of vegetables- the Mac and Cheese is excellent! Meats on lunch buffet are always hand made - no pre-battered fish or chicken- other meats served are hand made, not from a package. My family and I love the buffet and farmers market here, usually come once a week. The buffet changes menus each night, my favorite is the ribs but they have country fixings through the week and seafood on the weekend. Hands down the best ribs in town. Great veggies to go with the proteins too. Their dessert bar is professional level pies and cakes -- like seriously delicious selections: I've had the chocolate pie, lemon meringue, strawberry cake, rainbow cake, hummingbird cake, chocolate delight, pecan bar pie, peach cobbler and coconut pie -- not all in one night of course but they usually have 4+ selections every evening and it's hard to pick a favorite. To die for good dessert, for serious. Tonight's was a 4 layer chocolate pie. Gorgeous & delicious! Once we are all full we usually take my 2 yr old for a walk by the animal pens, I think they've made it a tour now. Love this place. read more

The boiled shrimp was way too salty, etc. compared to another great buffet in this area, Mama Hamil's, McClain's simply does not measure up. And the food is more than double the price of Mama Hamil's. In fact, Mama Hamil's is rated the top buffet in this state. My wife and I frequently go to McClain Lodge for lunch. Overall I would say the lunch is a good value for the money. That being said, our experience with the Steak House has been less than stellar. My wife made reservations through McClain reservation web site but never received a conformation, even though the sight acknowledged it went through. After making repeated calls to attempt to confirm if our reservation had actually been booked, and giving the attendant that received our call our contact information, we never received a call back or email. The only comment we received from the people that we spoke with after repeated calls was that they were busy. This was at 2 PM and 3:30 PM on a Saturday afternoon. My wife has worked in the hospitality industry for 31 years. She understands this is really bad business and would be hesitant to recommend their steakhouse and reservation system! read more

McClain Lodge is truly the premier wedding venue in this area. Our daughter was married there June 15 and everything was perfect. Let's start with the setting - it's stunningly beautiful. We had the rehearsal and the reception in the same location and we rented the lodge and cabins for the wedding party to stay Friday night. Our out of town guests stayed in the cabins on Saturday night. The cabins were extremely nice. The food - oh my goodness the food at both the rehearsal dinner and the reception was simply superb. We had dozens of compliments from the guests about how good the food was. And the staff? They were just incredible. Every last detail was handled. They even made sure the AC was turned on in the guest cabins well before the guests arrive. And the out of town guests really appreciated having the breakfast buffet available in the restaurant Sunday morning before they departed. We have so many great memories of this occasion, and the folks at McClain went all out to ensure everything was just right. I give them the highest possible rating!! read more

I really don't know where to start, but here goes....I have to say this was only my second time to the buffet and the first time was great. This visit was a different story. The fried shrimp tasted like the boiled shrimp from the night before. The catfish was cooked in day old oil. I didn't eat the gumbo but my wife said it was scorched. And to top it all off, my wife had gone to r/r and I went back to line to try something that tasted decent. When I returned to my booth, one busboy was sitting in my seat and talking with others that were standing around my table. Told them I wasn't finished, not to mention the plate of crab legs that hadn't been touched. He tried to play it off as wanting to take plate I was finished with, problem was I wasn't finished.
