While visiting the Carmel/Monterey area a month ago we wanted to take in some of the local scenery…read more Point Lobos State Natural Reserve came highly recommended, and it did not disappoint Located just 10 minutes outside of Carmel, this incredibly picturesque seascape is a must see while visiting. There are multiple trails through the Point, and each of them showcase stunning views of the sea and saw well as flora and fauna It was barely raining while we were there and it never dampened our spirits. The trails got a little slick, but nothing too dangerous. In fact, this is more of a seaside walking path than a physical intensive hike We saw many seals and otters on our hike. There was also a rest stop that had park rangers and an interactive exhibit that was very cool. You could feel the skin of a seal, otter, and even the baleen from a whale Some tips: If you haven't explored Carmel or Monterey you are just a short drive away There are many coastal hikes and scenic points/beaches to explore. We also enjoyed a more physical hike at the Pinnacles, but that is an hour or so away Cheers!!

It's so serene, scenic, natural, cool, and both the botanical plantlife as well as the animals (air, land, and ocean wildlife) you can find and view here are just so amazing. Being it's in the Monterey Bay, it's almost always cool when it's hot in the valley, so it's another great place to escape to. It's just a very nice and unique point in the bay and although you can spend the whole day here, or even several days, a couple of hours will also be very rewarding for a change of scenery for those of us who are urban dwellers who want to reconnect with God's natural wonders once in awhile. Overall, Point Lobos is an authentic, breathtaking, and calming place for those who enjoy seeing the ocean and taking in all the native plants, vegetations, and all the air, land, and sea creatures one can encounter or at least observe here.

He was at the meeting location early and explained surfing concepts on land, then guided us through practice on the sand. Then we got in the water and he helped each surfer catch numerous waves. Blue did not pressure anyone and even encouraged us to use the surf boards as body boards if we enjoyed it. The no pressure but strong guidance was the perfect combo for our group to thrive. Excellent gear and mentoring on how to get on and off the thick, warm wetsuits (which we loved in the cold Pacific surf). Highly highly recommend!

Noah was super helpful in the booking process where you put your name, height, weight, and sex. We were originally going to surf at Carmel beach but surfing conditions were rough there so we ended up at Del Monte Beach in Monterey. Prior to the lesson we were instructed where to meet, come in your bathing suit, and bring your own beach towels. As far as valuables go, they can lock it up in the truck or you can lock it in your car. I was weary but they had someone sitting in their truck so I felt safer. Wetsuits are provided and you don't really feel cold even in that Monterey water! The end of the lesson you can rinse off with warm water they provide which is nice! Kelly was our instructor and he was so patient and kind! They teach anyone from 4 y/o and up! I am in no way athletic and hella out of shape but I had a blast! At the end of the lesson, both of us were beat up by those waves but we stood up!!! It's a great workout that will leave you sore the next day! So I recommend not eating a big breakfast prior. My boyfriend is not a big fan of open water and the ocean but we both felt very safe! I highly recommend trying out surfing at least once in your life! Something to check off my bucket list. I can't imagine you could pick up surfing without instruction so I'm glad we did this!

If you want to get good, highly recommend doing a private lesson. We did a group lesson so we took turns in the water. The day we went was super windy and the waves were pretty crazy. The water was shallow though so we were still able to stand up (thank god). Getting the hang of it really takes some practice, but glad we had a great instructor to help us. So so fun!! Hi everyone I was at…read morea comedy evening at Sunny California in Capitola on 5/9, the store was newly opened. I brought a steel wine cup (included but in the color green) and it was unfortunately left behind. I contacted the store via the published phone number and left a message, used the contact me form online through their website, and also stopped in. I was told by the owner that his wife DID find the cup and stashed it somewhere. He asked me to leave my name and number and he would call me. He hasn't. I have since used the same methods (contact us form, left a voicemail, also have send an Instagram message) and once again stopped in to pick up my cup. I was told by the employee today that they had not found the cup. This seems small and you may be thinking I should let it go. Well, it was my husband's and he died in 2024. I used it at an event and it didn't get placed back in my bag, I was told it was found. I just want the cup returned to me, can you please help?

While visiting, we booked a lesson with Surf School Santa Cruz, and I'm so glad we did. From the moment we met our instructor, Ryan, he made us feel comfortable and excited to get out on the water. He stayed right by our side the entire time, offering encouragement and guidance that kept us motivated. Learning to surf with Ryan was such an incredible experience--he's not only an amazing teacher but also truly one of the best surfers out there. If you've ever thought about trying surfing, I can't recommend Surf School Santa Cruz (and Ryan!) enough.
