The mall was very conveniently located, easily accessible by metro (and by foot, if you're staying in the Joliette area). I entered via an entrance to the food court and a security guard had to pass a wand over me and check my bag before I could continue on. The mall is pretty large and had a lot of the stores I was looking for, including Pull & Bear, Zara, and H&M (I had underpacked for my trip and needed to buy some inexpensive clothes). The stores were reasonably busy given it was a weeknight. I finished my visit by going up to the terrasse; there were clear signs in the mall pointing to the direction of the terrasse. There was a lovely view, especially since the weather was nice. Even if you're not interested in shopping, I would definitely pay the mall a visit to go up to the terrasse, as it's a nice (and free) view.

We paused and then were approached by security person. He proceeded to take the bag to a very busy cash register. He balled up the top first and aggressively rubbed it against a metal shelf. He did the same with the matching skirt. Then he proceeded to shove it back into the bag. I stopped him and wanted to see both pieces. He snagged both the top and the skirt, ruining a $240 outfit which was just purchased and wrapped with exquisite care. After speaking with the security man , he refused to help us. We went upstairs to look for a possible exchange. None were available so we had to fight to get a refund for the damaged goods. We waited at least 45 minutes and the 1 cashier who could do the credit. We will NEVER go there again due to the abundant amount of ineptitude and stupidity. It was so very disappointing to see my mom one minute so elated and then two seconds later subjected to such horrid treatment!!! I will make certain to speak honestly regarding the hideous service this department store rendered to my friends who travel and love to spend!

Getting the VAT paperwork was a breeze and I filled out the paperwork online. I am thrilled with my purchase and will remember my trip every time I use my special bag.

Marseille is the capital to the French province of Provence, famous for its natural beauty and rolling hills of lavender and thyme (north of the city). Hence there are many soaps, lotions, perfumes and such that smell of the divine relaxing fragrance of lavender but other delicious scents also abound; jasmine, gladiola and rose to name a few. I settled for some beautiful post cards as personal mementos while my companion loaded up on some unique 100% locally made linens for his dining room table. They were quite simple (less is more) and very beautiful. Just outside the shop in the late afternoon is a makeshift open air market with at least 10-20 vendors peddling wares that you may not need, but will find it difficult not to want!

At first glance the store is a bit intimidating. Sales people are dressed in black and accessorized with a short Longchamp scarf. Once I established that I was truly there to purchase something unique to France (and not there to gawk) the SA went into action. She pulled out a pink nylon long handled bag with a cat face embroidered on one side and Miaow on the other side. I hate cats but there was something about this bag that I liked. Plus the price was around 95 Euro and relatively inexpensive by U.S. Standards. As I perused the rest of the store, it dawned upon me that nearly half of the merchandise was on sale! Even better! Long story short, I ended up getting the cat bag and a bunch of fond memories! This is a great store with friendly and helpful SAs! Highly recommended!
