Christine is a rare gem. She seems to understand intuitively how your particular body is, and what areas might need addressing on any given day. But she also asks questions at the beginning of a treatment, so she can get the full picture of how you're feeling and what you need. She is physically very strong, but can also sense when she needs to "tread lightly". I saw her every week when I was in my last trimester of pregnancy - she knew how to position me on the table so that even at my bulkiest, I was comfortable. And her treatments helped enormously with the joint pain, swelling, and sciatica I was having. Now that I have a small child, I find it hard to make time for myself. But when I finally do, and am reminded of how tremendously talented Christine is, I never regret it! Her studio is warm, quiet, and very conveniently located. I went in with lower back pain and an ankle injury. Christine asked a few questions and then went to work. The deep tissue massage really worked wonders for my pain and she also explained how the the two injuries were actually related and how I could reduce stress on the affected parts of my body. I am pleased to write an excellent review for my massage therapist, Christine Dallance. In the past I have viewed massages as a feel-good gift to myself that was not generally in the budget. Last year, I was having severe back problems. My hip joints ached so much that it was difficult to walk up steps; the pain in my lower back made it difficult to sit or stand for very long; and my neck, shoulders and upper back were very tight and painful. I had an MRI (which showed mild to severe degenerative disk disease). I was given an epidural cortisone shot which gave me some relief for about 2 weeks and referred to physical therapy at my HMO which did not help at all. I tentatively began a yoga practice and found this helpful, but not helpful enough. A student in my yoga class referred me to an acupuncturist - no change; another student referred me to her massage therapist, Christine Dallance. I delayed going, having little faith it would help, but finally did in desperation. I have had - and studied - many forms of bodywork, but none has had the effect that Christine has on my wellbeing. I was simply amazed - and continue to be amazed - at the quality of her work, its positive effect on me, and the variety of skills she is able to bring to her work. Christine is always respectful and intuitive and senses where the work is needed. The work on my hip joints released the muscle spasms that had been so painful. Christine may concentrate on certain areas, but she treats the whole person within each session, always asking where the work feels most needed. She constantly checks in during the massage to see how you are feeling. I had planned to go for only a few sessions and then perhaps once a month or so, but ended up going weekly for a long time because I could feel the value of her work in my body. Now I go every other week - I would go every week if I could afford it! - and it seems to be enough so far to maintain the benefits I have received. If you suffer from back, neck, joint or muscle pain and/or stiffness, I doubt you could find a more intuitive, skilled, compassionate practitioner than Christine Dallance. read more

Christine gave me the best massage I've ever had yesterday. I went to her because of a repetitive strain injury to my arms, and she had the perfect balance of deep, yet gentle, massage. I have had massages from perhaps half-dozen people over the years and Christine is the best! If I could give her six stars, I would. She is knowledgeable in several different techniques, from Acupressure and Tui-na, which is a manipulative massage therapy, to serious and quality deep-tissue massage. Christine inquires about particular issues you're having and focuses on those problem areas. But she is so intuitive that I mostly let her just follow her instinct. Christine offers either 60-minute or 90-minute massage and I'd recommend trying the 90-minute. She also has gift certificates available. In this period of economic downturn I'm having to cut out some perks, but Christine's massages would be the last thing I'd cut out. read more

Christine is an excellent massage therapist. It is always a good sign when your 60 minute massage is up, and you wish it could go another 30 minutes. In my experience, not every masseuse is a true intuitive healer, but Christine is, no question. I have now gone to her three times, and every time feels as relaxing as it does healing. After our first session, she was able to come up with an effective approach/massage style for my particular body and muscle tension issues, and I get the impression that this is her approach with all of her clients.
