DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE ( son Josh and David Ward ) ! They were contracted to do our entire interior Topsail Beach house and complete the framing and paint our crescent window . UN supervised walls were not painted in rooms , halls and doors. I honestly don't know exactly WHAT they painted. David never did the window as per contract. we received all kinds of excuses , death in family , surgery , workers not around etc... and he wanted payment promising to finish the work that was contracted. WE are the fools that paid him , because NOW he and his son are ghosting us, not returning phone calls etc. HE is a thief ! DO NOT USE THEM at all ! unfortunately I HAD to give one star to post this but ideally I'd give a -5 next up ..suing his ass !! NEVER NEVER use them ! read more

We had them paint our beach house last year. Within 6 months we had paint peeling off the front and back sides of the house. I called David Ward about the problem he blamed it on the hurricane even though the paint started peeling months before. Now we have twice the work to repair all the panels that have paint issues. When they were finished ask them to come back and paint behind some flowers that was against the house that they didn't bother to move to paint behind them. David Ward 910-470-5146 and Josh Ward 910-470-5147 should not be considered professional painters. We recently hired them to paint the interior of our beach house in Topsail Beach, NC after seeing them doing lots of work in the area. They were nice enough to provide a free estimate, which we thought at the time was a fair price, but once the job was scheduled we started to become skeptical. The work begun and we were unable to supervise the job while they were painting, so we trusted them to do a professional job moving what needed to be moved and clean up when they were done. Well, we were quoted a price that would include removal of wallpaper and 2 coats of paint and ceilings painted throughout the house. We received several pictures of progress, which seemed ok, but you really couldn't see much and since it wasn't finished, we figured they still had to do finishing touches and clean up. Once we were told the job was done, David hounded us for final payment before we could do a walk through. David also told us we would need a clean up of the house done to make it ready for a renter that was coming in for the following week. We contacted the management company and asked them to do a walkthrough for us, and they said it looked ok, but needs a full clean up and that things were not put back where they once were, like paintings and furniture. We got several more calls from David demanding payment because he needed the money to go on a family vacation, he promised to do any work necessary once we were able to see it ourselves. Reluctantly trusting David, we sent the final payment, but he continued to hound us saying he never got it, even though we sent the payment. A week later, we did the walkthrough only to find out that all of the window blinds on the first floor had missing or broken valances, which wasn't the case before they started the job, and they were only a couple of years old. There were also broken picture frames and missing items. The painting done in all of the rooms where wallpaper was removed was terrible. They left several 2 inch holes in the wall and gaps between sheetrock along with lots of wallpaper still on the wall and they just tried to paint over it and pieces were hanging out behind the mirror, lights and vanity. There was paint spray on antiques and drippings on just about everything in the house. They even spilled paint in and on our coffee maker and just left it.There was little professionalism in this job, and was much worse then what i could have done myself. We spent a week cleaning up the mess that was left. David finally agreed to meet with us to walkthrough and said he would be back in a day to help fix things. David is not answering the phone, nor has he called us back, and he never showed up for the repairs. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! read more

I called David & Josh and they came by to give me an estimate in painting my exterior in Surf City. It was not the lowest bid but it was fair. I had 1 lower bid that did not give me any confidence they had a clue about painting. David and Josh said they do the work themselves and are on site all the time. I hired them and I am pleased with their work. They show up when they say they will. They use quality paint and sealers. They prep surfaces well and do not take short cuts. They left the area clean. My house is very high and large but it was no problem for them. They finished within the time they said they would finish. Finally, they are amiable guys that are happy to answer questions with straight answers. Good tradesmen are hard to find, especially on Topsail. D&J are obviously proud of their work and have grown their business on referrals. I highly recommend D&J for your next paint project. read more
