Absolutely the most unprofessional and exasperating contractor I have ever hired. He was to cut…read moredown a multi trunked Chinese Chestnut tree at a tenant's house and after seeing it he was quick to give me a price and wanted to start right away on 8/21/20. That part was fine, however he was also quick to bug me for payment. I live 14 hours away so I mailed him a check per his request as the mail is slow and any other tree service would have been completely through and cleaned up in just a day or so. However he discovered that, as he had no bank account, he couldn't cash my check! (Seriously, what legitimate business has no bank account?!). At this point, it was several days later, as he had to wait for his "help" to be free from their "regular" jobs so he could continue cutting down the tree. So at this point he had cut part of the tree and left all the cuttings in my tenants yard. He then posted a $12/hr request on Facebook for help to remove it. Part of it did get removed I suppose and he said he would continue but wanted money wired overnight through Walmart. That was too expensive and was definitely a blessing in disguise as I sent a money order by regular mail. He should have been completely through by the time that arrived which was a week later. A mistake on my part obviously. His next trip to the property on the 8/31 resulted in him dropping limbs onto the main electrical wires running to the house. He did call the power company but didn't bother to call me. 4 hours later Buchanan Electrical had my tenant up and running again. Kudos to them for great service but it scared Josh (as I can only guess he is uninsured by his actions) so much so that he "disappeared" for a week, and I was left with the bill. He wouldn't answer my calls or texts but when I had friends and family call him that week he was quick to pick up. He finally told me he had phone problems that week. Really? I guess just phone problems with my number. He then said he would finish cleaning up the epic mess of tree branches and debris. So another week goes by and he won't respond. Now it's Friday 9/11 and this week's excuse is that he is in NC with a sick mother. My tenants had their son call him (unrecognizable number) and he answered and agreed to meet him shortly there after to do a quote for him. We were all saddened that he would use the excuse of a sick mother to get out of his commitment. I had to hire another person to clean up Josh's tree debris. The debris he was paid to remove and found excuse after excuse to not follow through. My husband and I will have to finish cutting the stump down at some point on our next trip to Virginia. This is the stump Josh said he would cut down but would have to rent a larger saw in which to do so as his was only 16". Wow. Really? What a pathetic excuse for a "tree care service" and what a horrible experience. - Pen Miller.
